IMPORTANT NOTE: These photos are from pre-Covid 19. But my review is based on our 3 year old starting in January, and returning for a Summer childcare program. Firstly, Ms. Diana from the Junior Dragons class ROCKS!!! My 3 year old just loves this class and she is learning so much in such a fun manner! Thank you to Delphi for adhering to strict Covid-19 protocols to keep our children safe yet still offer them a normal experience. Our 3 year old didn't miss out on any fun this summer and is excited to return in the Fall! I can see that the parents are also very respectful and cooperative with the new rules, and that makes everyone happy and relieved. You've been very accomodating during hard times and I know everyone is grateful! I've spoken to many Delphi parents who feel the same way. Looking forward to returning after the break! See you soon!

Great school that customizes their program to each child. Also focus on application vs just memorizing stuff.

All of our kids love the campus and the teachers. The curriculum is challenging but the school is always finding new ways to make learning fun. VCS encourage family unity and there are many social events for families. We feel like VCS is our second home and we have made many friends there, friends that we actually like to hang out with outside of school. As a parent I am always worried if the curriculum isn't challenging enough so when other kids come to Village I ask the parents if their children find the work too easy or more challenging. I have yet to hear of one parent tell me it is easier than their previous school. The teachers and staff alike truly care about these kids and love God. It is evident the moment you set foot on campus. VCS promotes college at an early age and will guide your children through the entire process and hold their hand every step of the way. They focus on what the children like and what they want to study. VCS is a wonderful school and we are so thankful our children have the opportunity to attend.

It's great that it includes both middle and high school with a relatively small number of students, so everyone knows each other. The program is highly rigorous and challenging (all students in the program are studying at highly advanced levels for science and math). The homework load can be overwhelming at times but there is a terrific support network to ensure that students stay on track. Our son has made great friends and loves his teachers. The academics are top notch. For the second consecutive year, The Science Academy was the number one school in the state of California with the highest scores among grades 6 through 8 in English, math and the English and math combination. For kids who love math and science and are up for the challenge, this is one of the best school options in LA.

If I remember correctly, we had three tracks, A, B, and C to accomodate all of them. Generally, it was pointless since about only half showed up for class at any given day. Our graduating class had around 600 students. You do the math. Because there are four grades, there should be around 1,000 students per grade. That means of the 1,000 students who started 9th grade, only 600 made it this far. Before No Child Left Behind, LAUSD would wink-and-nod at this failure since failing schools tend to be cash cows. The bathroom was the filthiest thing you're ever going to see ever in your life. There is not enough trips around Africa that will dissuade you that, yep, the hole in the ground dug for you in an open-air abbatoir by Mbuke will ever be as filthy as the urine-soaked walls of the Poly High men's bathroom. "This use to be white" wasn't just something you say about Michael Jackson, you can also say that about the fecal-encrusted walls. Don't get me wrong, I have great memories of this place. The Thai-owned wanna-be American diner across the street was a frequent hangout. The teachers are mostly good, but I was in the magnet program. If you are a go-getter, the resources are going to be there for you. Teachers like self-starters so even there are classes that are not available, they'd take you in and do the paperwork to give you the appropriate credit. For example, there was only one French 3 student in the entire school. Qui? Moi. But the Mme. Vamosiu took the time to give me her never-used French 3 materials, left me alone, and taught the rest of the class in the only language they understand in a French class: Spanish. Let's say that you are a billionaire's son and you are well aware of that when you started school here. After graduation, Poly will make you feel that pulled yourself up from your own bootstraps.
