Each of their experiences has been different, but one thing has stayed consistent: their confidence has grown and they've learned how to advocate for themselves. I remember when my oldest started as a freshman. He was nervous and trying to figure out where he fit in. He's part of the LGBTQ community, and as a mom you hope your child will be accepted for who they are. At VAAS, he was. The diversity here is real, and you can feel it every day. He joined the dance team, got involved in theater, and eventually became president of several clubs. Watching him grow into a confident leader showed me how much this school was helping him develop as a person, not just as a student. My other two children were excited to attend after seeing his experience, and I've watched the same kind of growth happen with them. They all have different personalities and interests, but they've each learned to speak up for themselves and take ownership of their future. As a parent, that means everything. What makes VAAS special is the smaller environment and the relationships with teachers and staff. Students are known by name, and the teachers genuinely care. I've had teachers reach out not just about concerns, but to share progress and ideas for growth. It shows they're truly invested. Both of my children who graduated from VAAS have now graduated from college, one from UC Irvine and the other from the University of Hawaii, and my youngest has already been accepted into college. That tells me VAAS really prepared them for what came next. One of my favorite experiences as a parent has been Digital Portfolio Night, where students present their own work and reflect on their growth. Seeing that confidence firsthand is something special. VAAS is more than just a school. It's a supportive community that prepares students for life after high school, and I would absolutely recommend it to other families.

My own experience there was concerning; my son informed me that he had to pay for lunch, despite the school's previous claims that breakfast and lunch were provided at no cost. Additionally, I found the staff, particularly the principal, to be unprofessional and unkind. After reporting an incident, I felt that my concerns were dismissed, and I was subjected to disrespectful remarks about myself and my child. It is crucial for the school to improve its communication skills and address parental concerns more effectively. Overall, my experience was disappointing and distressing. She often shares that, from her personal experience, she has not witnessed any bullying, and that students are respectful toward one another--especially toward students with autism. As a parent of a young boy with special needs, it means a great deal to know there is a place where children feel accepted, supported, and included. The teachers we have had interactions with are kind, dedicated, and genuinely supportive of their students' growth. The school also offers a wide variety of after-school activities and academic programs that help students thrive. For example, they have a Highly Accelerated Math Program, and students even have the opportunity to take early college courses through LA Mission College to begin earning college credits. The music department is exceptional. They consistently participate in competitions, and Mr. R does an incredible job teaching jazz, mariachi, orchestra, band, and strings. It's impressive how much he accomplishes, all while maintaining such a positive and encouraging attitude. My daughter especially enjoys his class. Additionally, the robotics team is outstanding--they placed in the top 10 at the LAUSD Finals Championship last year. The robotics teacher is very supportive and inspiring to the students. Overall, I have had a very positive experience with the school and no complaints. I highly recommend Frost Middle School to any family looking for a supportive and enriching environment for their child.

Our daughter in now in her last semester of her Masters Degree and we're extremely thankful of the investment we decided to make 20 years go and continue to make to this day. Our son is now a junior at Heritage Christian School and has three semesters until he graduates high school. We're getting close to saying goodbye to our tuition payments but we'll continue to invest our time and monies into this school because we've seen the hearts and dedication of the staff members (teachers, coaches, facility & administration) day in and day out. Heritage isn't a perfect school that's why I gave it a 4 star review. Every person, family, organization and company can always improve. If we're not improving then we're either being stagnant or backsliding. So, yes Heritage can improve and there's room for growth. As I look back over the years they've improved in several areas; teaching, facilities, honors, AP classes, athletics, robotics, computer science. HCS has definitely improved, become competitive and is now thriving in those areas as well as others. Every staff member has a different story and "they" just like "we" are uniquely made. Both my wife and I are so thankful for all the staff members love for Christ. Don't get us wrong there are some (teachers/staff members) that our kids weren't to fond of, but that's life. There's never going to be a place where (they or we) are going to connect with everyone. HCS is a place where you can be confident that your kids will be loved, nurtured, safe, challenged and given the chance to grow and thrive in their academics and their relationship with Christ. *HCS is having an (open house/campus preview) on Sat. 2/8/19 from (10am - 1pm). One thing that you also need to watch out for are the people that they allow in this school. at this point, it's not even a christian school. my son says every time he walks passed anyone, he hears bad words. now I don't know what their parents allow them to say or do but I do know for a fact that a "christian school" should not be permitting their students to say cuss words. another thing you should think twice about are the feminine boys. Yes Feminine boys. again I know this school is "christian" and all but please watch out or think twice before you send your kid/kids here because my son claims that there are feminine boys that dress weirdly and other shyt like that. another thing is discipline. The discipline is so bad here. My son said that one day in science that someone stabbed a kid with a pen and only got detention. sad. also you need to watch out for substances. this part has gotten so bad to the point where kids were bringing vapes to school and security had to bring out the dogs. the kids who were caught with this vape and shot only got suspended. and unless you want your kid/kids to get into fights. then send em here. I am not proud with the way that they are running this shytty "christian school" --- John B.

I have been complaining for the last few years about my daughter being tormented and bullied yet nothing absolutely nothing was done. Earlier this year my daughter was physically assaulted by another student which I brought to Mrs Lie's attention and again NOTHING WAS DONE. This school year I came to find out the office had new administrators which I thought "oh yes, hopefully new and positive outcomes" but NO, once again my daughter was assaulted by another student. I went in the office to speak to the new principal mrs Duran about the ongoing bullying issues just to find that there had been NO record of any of the incidents my daughter had endured at Granada Elementary in the past. I requested administrators to involve the school police to take report as the school hadn't been doing so, but mrs Duran assured me she would take care of the problem and get back to me, NEVER DID! A week later as i was picking up my kids I can tell my daughter had been crying as her eyes were swollen, puffy & red. When I asked her what was wrong she literally broke down in my arms crying telling me a student had been bullying her since lunch time. Every administrative staff that day failed my daughter to check in on her or even ask what was going on. Nobody called me. After many years of bullying and nothing being done by the school I decided to change schools for my kids. Unfortunately there was no room for my kindergartener at the new school so just decided to move my daughter( after all she was the one suffering at Granada) well come to my surprise the same week my daughter was transferred out of Granada , the school decides to make these outrages disgusting untrue claims to hurt me and my family talking about "they have concerns for my son", yet didn't have any concerns for my daughter enduring bullying at Granada Elementary year after year! They are truly disgusting and need to be reported to the department of Education which I will do!
