HIs friends are all grounded, lovely humans who treat one another with consideration and respect. The teachers are dedicated professionals who make learning engaging and foster strong relationships with students. I can't recommend the school more highly for the way it has helped our chikd grow as a learner and member of the community.

The evil I experienced at this school in 1990 was breathtaking, and by today's standards would have lead to this school's closure with all the social media video to back up my assertions. I almost committed su***de that year. "We let the children work out their problems themselves" was the mantra. No relief. No protection. Just the infliction of pure cruelty .... while the "adults" stood by and watched. Tho they ALWAYS stepped in to punish me when I tried to fight back. "The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats it's most vulnerable members." -Mahatma Ghandi. This quote follows me - haunts me to this day, BECAUSE of Buckley School. They taught me a very valuable lesson in this life: to not trust anyone.

If you don't like your job then don't do . Especially working in kids area you should be very careful about your word. You don't seem happy with your job at all . All answer or question you asked me it came out with your bad attitude tone that I can strongly felt it . I've met a lot of black ppl and they all are nice but you are different . You racist and treat other ppl poorly . I'm not happy with this school officer she shouldn't work in school area if she likes to say that s word . Very dissapointed and bad experienced with this school .

I did not have a nice experience speaking to the principal as she was rude, condescending, and downright disrespectful with the way she spoke to me. I don't understand how a principal can feel like she has the right to speak with such a distasteful attitude and make me or anyone else feel like a criminal or like they are doing something wrong. As someone who works in LAUSD, you should be kind and approachable and most importantly, understanding especially to people coming in for the first time.

This experience has been extremely disappointing and disturbing. The way bullying is handled at…read morethis school is unacceptable. When my child reported being slapped by another student, the school staff dismissed it as "a game the kids are playing." Explaining physical assault as normal behavior is not only irresponsible -- it sends a dangerous message to both children and parents. When a child comes forward saying they were hurt by other students, it deserves to be taken seriously, not minimized or excused. If this is considered "normal" by the staff, then this school has a serious problem with student safety and accountability. I have lost all trust in the administration's ability to protect children. I am counting down the days until the school year ends so I can transfer my child. I will also be formally escalating this issue to the school district. No child should feel unsafe at school, and no parent should be made to feel powerless when advocating for their child.

There are two main things that I believe make Riverside Drive Charter a great elementary school:…read morethe dedicated teachers and the new Principal, Ms. Haynes. The teachers at Riverside are AMAZING. They are passionate, smart, and kind and there is very little turnover - all the teachers seem to want to come here and never leave. At every school I'm sure there are some good and some bad, but most of the teachers I've had experience with at Riverside are devoted to their students and love their jobs. From an educator's perspective, Ms. Haynes is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of education and knows what needs to be done to make this school the best that it can be - including coming up with a plan to increase test scores without "teaching to the test". This happens to be important to me (higher test scores while still making learning fun,) so it thrills me to see that she is very involved and enthusiastic about Riverside's potential. From a parent's perspective, Ms. Haynes is down to earth, very friendly and approachable, and can relate to having elementary school aged children. I think she is a great leader and will start to really help take this school from a school the parents appreciate into a 10/10 powerhouse. There are several programs I personally love about Riverside including the awesome drama program; the learning garden with all the flowers, veggies, and chickens; the large library; the new computer lab; the annual Science Fair and Art Night and Literacy Night; and more. I also appreciate that I can be involved with the school through Governance council and all the committees the school has for parents to join if they want. And as a personal plus - I've met many incredible, dedicated parents through this school, some of whom are now my best friends. Last year (2016-17) the school went through a lot of changes and I'm not gonna lie - it was discouraging at the time. But, I'm so glad we stuck through it! I really think Riverside is a special neighborhood school with tons of potential to just keep getting better.

I've had to reach out to the staff several times in order to get any responses which is kinda ridiculous. I've also noticed that they treat you different if you're not white. I've had multiple instances where I've witnessed it and have also experienced it. For example....Earlier this month I was picking up my son from school with my puppy. I had seen other parents walk in with their dogs before so I decided to bring mine along for the first time. As I got to the pick up gate I picked my puppy up and was walking behind another woman with her dog (who was light skinned) and out of nowhere I hear someone shouting. At first I had no idea this person was talking to me but the shouting got louder so I turned around. This teacher named PAT FOURNIER comes running, gets right in my face and starts shouting "Dogs are not allowed on the school grounds, you need to leave" . Mind you this is not only an adult but a teacher that is teaching our future generations. I asked that he stopped shouting and speak to me like a normal human being and he continued to shout. The yelling was completely unnecessary and disrespectful. He could have easily pat me on the shoulder and said "the dog is not allowed". I am a full grown adult who understands rules and I would have gladly walked out. The other woman that had walked in was left to go in without any repercussions. Racist much??? To make matters worse.... I called the front office to file a complaint. They said they would pass the message along to the principal who would be calling me back regarding the matter. It's been two weeks and nothing. When will I get a call Principal Kassebaum?
