I had a terrible experience at this nail salon. From the moment I walked in, no one greeted me or acknowledged me. The tech who worked on my nails rushed the entire time and was yanking my hands around like she was annoyed to even be doing the service. She argued with me about what I wanted, even though I clearly showed her a picture for inspiration. I repeated multiple times that I wanted a square shape, and I also told her that I didn't like how my nails were turning out. Instead of fixing it, she just said, "You don't like it? Oh, okay," laughed, and even called another coworker over like it was a joke. The attitude, lack of care, and unprofessional behavior were unacceptable. I left unhappy and with nails that look nothing like what I asked for. I won't be returning, and I don't recommend this place to anyone. I also ASKED FOR a soak off and she denied and used a nail tip to take off my acrylic nails... read more

I love that you don't need an appointment! They do a good job and are quick about. The manicurist are friendly and nice they mind their own business and don't try to force a conversation which is nice when you just want to relax. They have a bunch of great color selections but if you want a specific color you can bring it in and they are more than happy to use that. I usually just get a solid coat but Ive had them do designs and they were pretty good. They have some basic designs but if you show them a picture of a design they do a pretty good job replicating complex designs. Overall its a very convenient place to get a good pedicure read more

Everyone knows me as the nail salon Gypsy lol. I go to all of them just to post the review. My mother and I took my daughter and niece here on a Saturday and I have taken the girls to multiple salons and this salon is the most kid friendly. The girls were allowed to wait on the pedi chairs for their techs and the tech treated them as little humans. Had conversations with them and took their time. I got a gel mani and gel polish change and Jenny was fabulous. When I was trying to pick my "nude" color she opened like 6 and painted them on for me to reference. She wasn't upset about it either. My mom comes here all the time and everyone is so nice. Will def come again for another girls day read more

Upon entry into Trina's I was a little shocked, thought they only sold beauty products. But I called right before I came to see if their is a available pedicure appointment last minute. The guy who answered was very polite and invited me to come whenever I was free. The location is prime, lots of parking in the mall area. The inside is very clean and cool. The last nail salons I went to I left with my back wet from perspiration. Lots of chairs available and nail technicians to service your needs. The service is awesome, the ladies work very well. I enjoyed the care on my feet, was too rough and no pain at all while removing excess skin and deep nail issues. Very welcoming and I felt like the customer service care is on point. Had a shocking, yet great experience and will be coming back again for a pedicure read more

I've been here before, figured I'd give this place another try after covid... Gel nail polish was pretty at first. But on the way home I noticed that the gel nail polish had pockets or bubbles under the top layer. It started to lift at the edges of the nail and notice it was powdery or wet underneath?? Gave them a call and they said they would redo, if I went back in. So they did a few nails, the more noticeable ones... Maybe she should've redone the entire thing. My girl was really cool and nice tho... maybe bad quality nail polish?? read more

Best deal for a cheap pedicure. No appointment needed. I have never waited more than 5 minutes to get in here. This place is only a few minutes from my house. There's lots of free parking and it's next to yummy restaurants. As soon as you walk in, there's usually someone greeting and asking what you are looking for. I point to my toes and I'm led back to where the nail salon is. They put you up in a massage chair where you soak your feet in some nice warm blue water before they start cleaning your toes (cuticle push back, trim off dead skin, scrub bottoms of feet). Then you get a nice calf massage with Tiger Balm (heavenly) before your toes get painted. The girls here don't speak much English, but they know enough to know what you want. Takes about 20-25 minutes for a basic pedicure and only costs $20 (plus tax and tip). They take credit cards. Always great service and pleasant people working. There is also a beauty supply store here, but I have not ventured in these parts. read more

Trina Beauty - French pedi - Cosmetics & Beauty Supply Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

This might be one of the best beauty supply stores on Oahu with a bonus secret nail salon in back! This review is only for the beauty supply portion. I came here just to buy a gift certificate to give to a friend who loves the pedicures but I ended up with a huge heavy bag full of shampoo, conditioner, nail supplies, and other little treasures. You don't need a hairstylist/aestitician license to shop here, which is great since I don't have one. This place sells real hair wigs (not synthetic), great for people undergoing chemo (or just for a quick hairstyle change), hair extensions, eyelashes, professional hair color products, hair care tools (flat irons, dryers...), nail products (polish, tools, nippers, cuticle sticks etc.), and every single shampoo, conditioner, gel, hairspray and shine in a bottle you can imagine. Their prices are cheaper than buying retail from the salons at Kahala Mall or even at the "supply" places at Ala Moana. It's not as extensive as Rainbow Beauty Supply but I like it better. It's a bit of a drive to Aiea for me, but I will be doing this drive again the next time I need products. Customer service was great - Alex was really helpful with product selection. Next time I want a piece of that secret nail salon in the back! I recognized some of the girls there since they used to work at Smiley! read more

I enjoyed my visit here at Trina's. We were able to come and walk in an hour before closing. I liked how we had the whole place to ourselves for awhile. We went in for a male cleaning for mani/pedi and I just got a pedi. The ladies were super nice and cute. They had set everything up really quick for us and helped with anything we had questions about. The ladies were too funny about trying to offer my fiancé color and clear coat and etc! It was his first time getting a cleaning and he enjoyed the pamper very much! Men can get pampering too, y'all! I loved how they cleaned my toes and pushed back my cuticles. I think this place was quite affordable because it is a low-key place hidden behind all the beauty supplies. It's a nice ghetto place for the simple cleaning and painting. This is a place that doesn't use plastic to cover their spa things but it was for my feet, people be barefoot at the club. I also like getting my hair and nail supplies here. They have alot of different items. Stop by, check it out. read more

It's sad that one of the only places on the island that carries products for Black hair doesn't even like dealing with Black people. Very rarely do the employees here even speak when you walk in the door and they make you feel as if they are somehow doing you a favor by even selling to you. No customer should ever get the impression that their presence isn't wanted in a store, yet this is how feel every single time I have entered this establishment. A common "How are you today?" is lost on this place and I always speak and say, "Hello, how are you?" Instead, there is absolute silence as they ring my products up with no eye contact and no "thank you have a great day", accompanied by a look of restrained disgust. Which makes no sense because I'm an attractive, intelligent Black woman who ALWAYS smells great lol, so what's REALLY up with the scrunched nose?On top of that, they requested that I pay them 15 cents if I wanted a bag for my purchases. My husband and I just moved back to the island, so if that is the case now, fair enough. But when I asked why he wanted to charge me for a bag, the man behind the counter said in an unwarranted argumentative tone (as if to say 'how dare you even question that'), "You pay for a bag in the grocery store, don't you?" Wow, just wow. I will not ever be coming back to this store unless there is an absolute diva emergency where this is LITERALLY the only place standing. And even then I'll just wait on Amazon prime shipping., thank you very much. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. This place doesn't deserve my time or money, so I'll make sure that they don't get either. read more

Was looking for colored hair extensions for my granddaughter to use to add color to her braids and decided to checkout Trina's Beauty. They offer wall to wall hair!! The guy assisting was great, he knew his merchandise and was able to show me what I was looking for. The price was great and I also got a discount. The only problem I had was there was no space. They jammed pack everything in this small store which also has a nail salon. I had a hard time fitting in the aisles to look at the products. They hard every type of hair you could imagine. The good thing is you don't need a beauty license to purchase things like most Beauty supply stores. So they offers customers an option beyond purchasing these types of products from hair salons which can be quite expensive. Plus their prices were very reasonable. read more

I have been coming here for years upon years. And I always came to see jenny. If she's not here, I leave. If she has a wait, I wait. She remembers my style and what I like done and in the order I want it done. She never does anything without asking and always has my best interest in mind. I've been going to this place for as long as I can remember. I believe the prices here are reasonable as far as getting me a pedi (pedicure *toes*). 22$ for a reg paint job with a bit of a calf/foot massage. $27 for a fade paint job (which is like a French tip but its faded to clear...it's really pretty) w/the calf/foot massage. THIS IS MY GO TO place for me to get pedicures. They take care and do not over charge and that's my kind of language, if you know what I'm talking about. I have not done my nails (manicure speaking*hands*) because (I think) they're rather expensive. I feel that the old owners were very reasonable with doing manicures or it may have been because I was an old customer or returning customer, they were. It just seems like a lot of places now OVER charge or play like you're getting what you asked for and then flip it around on you (I'm not saying that Trina's do that. Check out my review on the nail shop in vegas). It IS a crowded place because the isles are rather small so if it is a FULL HOUSE in there, good luck, however, might I point out that there was a point in time where Trina's was the only place accessible with weave, wigs, various hairstyling products, a built-in nail salon as well as a waxing station. Not to mention rent for a space is expensive, especially for a place in a shopping center. I just wanted to point this out because in the past 10 years (if you're not from here please keep your comments to yourself), things have changed rapidly at a speed that some places are unrecognizable. Trina's could use an upgrade but I get a great nostalgia from here. I bring my cousins here to buy weaves and they've claimed it to be a bit pricey but seeing as it's one of the only places on island to get hair, they have no choice. I, myself bought bundles of weave for myself and it was on sale at the time what should've been 300$ came out to like $120 includ. The hair styling gel. I'm rating it a 3 because it's a great place but after reading some reviews I am reminded that I have been watched here before and because there is a language barrier between the nail techs and customers there's room for miscommunication which leads to discomfort sometimes. read more

This was my first time coming here and I had a really bad experience. The employees saw me and my sister walk in and they started to follow us everywhere we went. The place was very cramped and there was also a small nail salon in the back, they also were giving us the stares. I definitely did not feel welcomed here. Then after we were looking at some hair wigs, one of the lady's were somewhat talking to us in a harsh tone. It felt like they were trying to kick us out of the store. Came in looking at beauty supplies and I hear a bunch of Vietnamese women speaking. I'm also Vietnamese but don't look like it so they don't think I understand. At first they compared to who they thought might be someone else. And then they started saying mean things, after I walked away not really thinking to much about it. After right when I was about to leave a lady and her son came in. Before she came in she called this lady "fat" and said "obviously it's her you can see her through the door". Awful!!!! I can't believe that this place is still in business. (They sell predominantly Black Hair Care and Beauty Supplies but they seem to have a visceral hatred and mistrust of Black People.) I hope that every African American and anyone else who would like to join me in Boycotting Trina Beauty. I had stopped going there years ago because I noticed how they were seeming to profile Black People when they walked into the store; they would jump up and start walking down the aisles; it was so blatantly obvious because when non Black People came in they hardly moved unless someone asked them a question. As I said, "I hadn't been there in years until June 23/2021 My Hair Dresser had ask me to go by and pick up the hair she would need for a Quick Weave she was putting on my head for my trip. I went in picked up the hair and a couple of other items, (and yes, when I came around the corner someone was standing there pretending to adjust supplies.) but I digress. I purchased the the items got my receipt and when I walked outside in the sunlight I could tell that I had picked up the wrong color. I came right back in with my receipt and the hair and explained that I had picked out the wrong color. I tried to explain to the guy behind the counter and said, "once I got outside I realized that this is the wrong color I would like to exchange for the correct one." "NO EXCHANGE OR REFUND!!" (Very Loudly.) I said, you saw that I just paid and here is my receipt; I walked out and I saw that the color was not what I wanted. "YOU BOUGHT IT! I TOLD YOU, NO EXCHANGE!! NO REFUND!! I said okay, "I will never shop here again." And he basically turned his back and ignored me and I walked out. Never Ever Ever, will I give my business to someone who treats me like dirt! My review is mostly for the nail salon side. I was referred by my aunt to check out Tiffany who does great nails at this place so I called and scheduled. They informed me she does her own schedule so have to text her number which was new to me. Contacted her and set my appointment. The parking is kinda tight at the location so try to go couple minutes early to wait for parking. When I entered I understand what all the Yelp comments were referring to as in hot mess. It wasn't so much messy but cluttered idk how anyone can look for hair products. I ask the front desk if the salon for nails was els where because it looked like a hair product only store. The workers were all eating on a table in the back and told me to go to the left side in the back. I swear if I didn't see for myself I wouldn't actually believe their was a nail salon it's literally hidden. The nail tech Tiffany sat me and my daughter to the back side so we could be away from other clients. I got a gel pedicure and manicure with set. I ask for something simple but naturally let Tiffany work her magic. I'm really impressed with her free hand designs. She's very talented and thoughtful to paint my daughters nail because she was whining for nails to. Thanks Tiffany definitely go book with her you won't be disappointed. read more

I came in yesterday and as I was getting my nails done I witnessed a very rude encounter with a mancurist. A old lady walked in and asked who they have available to do nails this worker Jenny named all workers except one, this Thai lady (I think her name is Tongsoo not sure). It seemed very rude and cruel that she introduced everyone but the one lady. It seems that Jenny has a vendetta against this poor lady. I come to this location often and Tongsoo is nothing but the kindest, sweetest worker there. She takes care of her customers and her work is always beautiful. If you guys come to this location, do not book with Jenny. She is always rude and her work is sloppy. I would recommend Tongsoo or Taylor. read more

Always liked this place, but got a bad bacterial infection in my foot called cellulitis from the water. Found out that in California they put plastic liners in the tubs for each new customer so you're not exposed to the germs of everyone else. Eight hours after my pedicure I had to rush to the ER because my foot turned red and I had an intense raw pain. Doc confirmed it was cellulitis and prescribed two antibiotics, 5 pills/day. I like the ladies that work here, but they need to take extra steps to keep the place clean. That turned into a $400 pedicure with my ER bill, after insurance (thank god for insurance). read more

I'm so sad to write this review. I've gone to this salon for years; however, this time was the worst experience. I was harassed about getting gel nails, which I don't want and never get. The older nail tech got mad at me and took forever to do my toes and when it came time to do my nails, no one was around. Then I got some baloney story about covid. I didn't tip any one. This place is across the street of Aiea shopping center. Interesting place. Its a beauty supply store, specializing in African American hair products, run by Vietnamese with a nail salon in the back. I have never bought any products and have only gotten my nails done. Everyone is very nice and prices are reasonable. There are a lot of chairs, so I have never had to wait. The workers don't speak a lot of English, so make sure you clearly tell them what you want or they just do it however they want. The pedicures are well worth it. I did not go in here to purchase any beauty products. I came here to get a pedicure. My first impression of this place was, Oh Crap. I was coming with a friend that as a local so I bit my tongue. The entrance is extremely cramped with narrow aisles of just about any beauty, salon style product you could possibly imagine. If you continue through the store you come to a back room where the mani and pedis are done. There is NO flair to this place and a far stretch from soothing. I trudged on. I was seated in a chair and my tub was filled. I was a little concerned with the cleanliness but it was drained and had fresh water added. You only live once. My tech was Audrey. If I closed my eyes and turned on the provided massage located on the chair everything was perfect. I would say the best I have ever had. I don't go to have my toes all dolled up. I get pedis because I want the a message and well groomed feet. In California they are not allowed to remove skin; so that calloused skin on top of my second two stays forever in existence. In Hawaii, they can! Audrey cleaned my feet up very well (they can even scrape your heel should you need it) and spent an ample amount of time on the massage part. Massaging each calf for a good length of time. If you are expecting zen like music, in an aroma therapy filled room with soothing emotionally balanced colored walls, this probably is not your bag. I would most certainly come back...and the price is just right too! read more
