Cindy was very pleasant on the phone and told me to come on in that day. There was a considerable wait and I observed another lady who didn't want to wait. Clearly she had decided to come in that day also. Let's just be real: you really can't complain about a wait OR not being serviced when it comes to same-day services. With the Saints win, I was feeling festive and wanted to celebrate with Black and Gold. It was not busy at all, I didn't have to wait. Straight away, I noticed that there weren't as many polish shades offered compared to other nail salons BUT, they had gold so I was fine. She instructed me to sit while she went to the back to get a bucket of warm water. That should've been my first clue. It wasn't the typical massage chair with attached foot soaker. In fact, the chair wasn't even massaging. She proceeded to soak my feet in semi warm water. Next, she removed the old polish but didn't exactly do a thorough job of it. Brace yourself for the worst part. Cuticles. If you have to say ouch out loud more than once, you should just stop right there and don't let them go further. Ladies and gents, this was PAINFUL. Thankfully I didn't bleed but it was enough trauma to teach me not to go here anymore. Way, way, WAY too harsh on my sensitive toesies! Just when I thought the painful part was done, she started digging under the nail, trimming the nails too short, then trying to file the edge of nail except it was scraping my skin. Ug! This wasn't the pampering I was wanting, it was torture. The entire time, she was speaking to her coworker and for all I know, they were talking bad but oh well. They won't see me again. I came in for a pedicure as unfortunately Diamond Nails where I usually go was busy. First, they really don't speak English so it is very hard to communicate. And then they won't let me touch anything. I couldn't adjust the seat (so I felt very squashed) or the massage buttons for some weird reason and obviously didn't get that I was asking why because she was either ignoring my question or she didn't understand. Then when she started doing my toes it was very different than other salons, didn't soak my feet right away and then hardly buffed/scrubbed (idk what you call that) my heels. She buffed/scrubbed it very briefly and when I asked if that was it and if she can scrub longer, she shook her head no and proceeded with other things so obviously didn't again, understand my question. Also, she kept messing up the polish. I didn't even feel like this was a real pedicure and I felt really uncomfortable and getting a pedicure should be relaxing and it was not. The original plan was to take my mom to Supercuts this morning, but when I saw on Yelp that L'Amour Salon was right next door and had this amazing deal, I took her there instead. The 1 star isn't because of the haircut. My mom was satisfied with it. The 1 star is because L'Amour would not honor their own promo on their Yelp page. The ad promotes $12 haircuts for seniors over 65 with ID. The stylist charged $26 and some change, and when I asked about it she just smiled and shook her head no. I informed her that their promo was the reason I came, paid the bill and left a $5 tip...which sucks because I LOVE tipping generously to service workers and local businesses. I know we're in the middle of COVID and businesses are suffering for it. But please take the promo down, it's incredibly dishonest. read more

We came in needing mani/pedis for my wedding, and my pedi service was amazing! My MIL felt her pedi service was rushed though, and that her technician wasn't attentive to what she specifically asked for. I was in need of an eyebrow wax and I wanted to get it done near the airport and kill time so that I didn't have to be stuck in a traffic during a rush hour. I walked in and they immediately took me in and worked on my eyebrows. They came out somewhat different as I thought...rather shorter on the ends. I needed a haircut. L'Amour Salon recently opened in the Salt Lake Shopping Center. I conduct a lot of my business at the Salt Lake Shopping Center. So, I decided to give them a shot. Just before doing so, I stopped in at TSB to say "howdy" to the enchanting young ladies who work there. They were oddly excited to hear I was going to try out the new salon and insisted I come back so they could see my new haircut. There was a short wait while the two haircutresses finished up with two young spiky haired punks. But in no time, I was in the chair and being asked how I wanted my hair. This is always awkward for me. I don't know how to describe what kind of haircut I want. I usually answer something like this: "I don't know... something like it is now but shorter... you're a professional, do what you think is best." This usually works for me and it did today, but once it earned me an unwanted flat-top. Shortly after she started, I did get a bit nervous about putting my trust into this place because another young punk came in and asked to have his giant mohawk cleaned up. Suddenly I was remembering my unwanted flat-top! No worries, I got a nice clean conservative haircut just like I wanted. She took her time and paid close attention to detail. I was happy with her work. But now for the real test: I popped back in to the bank to show off my new quaff. They all seemed dually impressed. Okay, for the real real test: when I got home my lovely wife was pleased with my new haircut as well. So for $16 + tax + tip (Let's call it $20) a fellow can get a conservative, punked-out, or probably an anywhere in between haircut from L'Amour Salon in Salt Lake. I don't generally like leaving more reviews of small businesses, however, the haircut I received at this place was less than ideal. I wanted a trim, to get off any dead ends, and some face framing. Now I have no issue with the trim I was given and they are more than happy to listen to what you want. Unfortunately, how they decided to frame the face pieces just makes the whole haircut unwearable. I have never been to a salon where they cut the entirety of the top of my hair to "frame" it. It may be because they don't often work with hair as fine as mine but unfortunately it came out super choppy and almost "mullet-esque". She just kept cutting, to the point where the back looks okay but the front is like 4-5" shorter. If you have thick hair this might work for you but I just can't recommend this place. As well, the wash was cold. I was trying to have fresh hair for the holidays and I don't think I'll even be able to wear it down. read more

Okay... I tried to take it easy on anyone in the service department nowadays, but I won't be back. I walked in asking if they do leg waxing because their front door had a sign that said waxing and I didn't know if they only did face or whole body. They took me back quickly and had me sit down at a freaking shampoo bowl which immediately had me wondering how the heck they were going to wax the back of my legs. But hey, it's covid times. Maybe it's easier to clean the shampoo bowl than it is to clean the bed. ‍ Two ladies came back and each one took a leg and went to work. First worrisome thing, hygiene. You don't double dip application sticks in the same wax bowl. These ladies used the same two sticks, obviously intended for facial waxing, over and over and over again throughout the whole session. As they finished the front of my legs, they started pulling gently on my legs to get me to adjust so they can get to the back of my leg. Go figure. several times I was stuck in really awkward positions while they attempted to reach the back of my leg. But again, we made it work. And again, maybe it is easier to clean the shampoo seat than the bed. But as one of the ladies began to wrap up, I looked down and noticed she missed a bunch of spots so I pointed them out to her assuming that maybe with the lighting, she couldn't see the hairs. When she decided she was done, she tried to clean my legs with what looked like aloe on a cotton ball. The other lady on my left leg was a lot more thorough but even she missed several spots. At the end, they wanted to charge me $52 for an incomplete job. I always tip big for service workers, but this was ridiculous and I couldn't bring myself to. If I had more time, I would have stuck around longer and had them finish the job. But just from the looks of the place, this was the standard of service I was going to get. You get what you pay for, ladies. As for me? I'll stick with the European Wax salon in Pearl City. Their focus is this stuff, and they'll even tackle your legs with tweezers and make sure your legs are super smooth before you walk out of there. Once again, if body waxing isn't your specialty, please don't advertise it. read more

I've been to this salon previously for a pedicure and found the women all very nice, so when we were looking for a waxing place we were not too against calling to get pricing.... Called and asked how much they charge for an arm waxing. The woman on the phone said $18. I was a little surprised at that low amount and asked if it was for a full or partial arm wax she said $18 for a full arm. I clarified again and said is that per arm? Nope $18 for a full arm no appointment necessary.. We had called a few waxing salons so this was an awesome deal - or so we thought... We get there and put our name on the list and the woman comes out and asks me if I'm ready to get my eyebrows done and I explain that it's not for me or my eyebrows, it's for my husband and his arms.. So we walk back to the "waxing chair". Another woman asks what service we would like and we explain again a full arm wax. She starts cutting my husbands arm hair with a pair of kitchen scissors and then started waxing. The cloth strips were being used over and over until they were no longer sticking to the wax on his arm, and the applicator was being used over and over... This should have all been a sign of bad news... That is not hygienic or good practice at all!!! After the first arm was about 90% done my husband shows the woman a few patches of hair that she missed.. There were several other employees that kept walking back to the waxing area and one stopped and said "it looks fine".. The woman got tweezers and started tweezing several hairs until my husband asked if she could just please wax the area again.. Didn't happen. She got to he next arm and same thing happened... I walked over and showed her the hairs still on his arms. She re-waxed some of the areas, but ignored most.. This happened a couple of times. When they were done my husbands arms had hives on them with large patches of hair, still visible; one arm was done almost up to his shoulder, the other only up to his elbow.. Again pointed this out and also was ignored. We got up to pay and she said $52.00, I question that and explain that when we called they said $18.. Another women spoke up and said no I told you that was for underarms.. Not wanting to argue - as my husband is in pain with hives - I pay, meanwhile, he asked if they could please remove a lump of wax that was left on the back of his arm. After we got to the car we called another waxing salon to get this hack job fixed, and made an appointment for 2 hours later. By this time my husbands arms are bright red and he has welts on his skin.. We washed the products off at the nearest bathroom and the redness and swelling finally subsided. Never will we go to L'Amore Salon again.. This was the most unprofessional and horrible waxing I've ever encountered!!! If it were possible to give zero stars we would have..... Busy but they got me in. However I always felt on edge about being there. It's not my scene. And they didn't make me feel at ease throughout the entire process. I left graciously but not happily. 1) too quiet -- I'm a bold, fun woman and I felt like I walked on sacred ground with my shoes on. 2) greeted -- in their own way, I was greeted fine, but they seemed stressed by all their clients. Every employee was working, concentrating on their clients. The girl closest to me helped me. Said she could get me in in 15min. They did. 3) communication -- I like people who speak English so I know that they know what I want. I had to ask numerous times what the girl was doing to my hair. I showed her the photos I wanted done and I didn't know if she was actually going to match them or not. I like bold cuts; I went from long (long to me) to short. I like super short. Hen she started texturing my hair with the scissors had to ask her if that's how long she was going to make it. Cuz I wanted at least another inch and a half off. When I told her this again, she started cutting again. So it took her a long time to do my short hairstyle. I loved the back. Loved that she honored my wishes that she did understand, but the entire time I was unsure of her and myself. I've been through so many hairdressers. I move a lot. I can't find and keep one that matches me. When I do find them, they leave instead. And I'm stuck without someone who knows me. Sigh. Loyalty is hard to find. Despite the uneasiness, she did do her job. But the styling was limited. She told me I'm able to be very versatile with my haircut. So I hoped my own artistic expertise would help my hair become what I wanted it to look like. Because I saw the potential, but with their products, it couldn't be how I like it. Edgy and punkish but clean feeling. Product -- limited, I mean they didn't have texturizing whip like I use. She didn't know what Redken was. They had hair spray, mousse, gel, and pomade. All of which make my hair sticky. So I opted for the hair spray. Skill -- she seemed to allow my 'natural hair part' to remain in the center. People who do not take control of my hair and manipulate in their own way will always see my hair center-parted. That was a red flag for me. And really put me on edge. I've never met a stylist who didn't know about the rotation of hAir and how it's simple to change the direction in which hair parts. You follow the flow of the hair. It only goes center part when I do t do anything with my hair. I can have it manipulated in so many ways, you just have to have the security I. Yourself to know you can make the change. Don't let my hair boss you around, you boss my hair around. It was a personality test for me; the first stylist who didn't take control of my hair. Hmm... Price -- Very reasonable, considering my last haircut cost me almost as much as a car payment. $26 for a cut. They didn't ask to see my ID though I did have a military ID on me and we discussed my family's military life though I'm now a veteran, not active. But it'd be nice if they checked ID, and had the option of giving a tip through my debit card, cuz I don't carry cash on me often. I only had a couple dollars in change. So I feel bad I couldn't tip more. It's just courtesy. Cleanliness -- Very clean. I liked the teamwork of the place. I didn't feel dirty when I walked in. Overall -- busy but not hectic, too quiet, but good for mature kids and adults. Not good for people who want to laugh and be loud and have a relationship with their stylist. Unless they want a cultured relationship with their stylist. It's just not my cup of tea. And talking to co-workers in another language always puts me on edge. At my old work it was a rule to always speak in the Common Tongue because a couple of the ladies I worked with we're talking smack about my comrades to their face. Someone who spoke the language overheard them and told their supervisor. So I never know what other people are saying. But I always have a laugh about it cuz it reminds me of The Dictator by Sacha during the helicopter scene. Lost in translation. So funny. (Wow. Totally off topic.) Aftercare -- so I got home and showered to get the extra hair off my back. I should have trusted the stylist. It was what I asked for. I used Redken 04 and a blow dryer. I could style it any way I wished. It also looked great down as is. My hair easily switched it's parting to the side like I made it. So I styled it how I use do for the time being and it looks great. I just wish the stylist had the confidence to be as bold and daring. I'm not knocking people who go with the flow, but the customer should feel comfortable in that chair. I never did. Always nervous. Always questioning. Not an awful experience but not the best I've had. I'm just happy it worked out in the end, and she did a good job. I do t have to get it recut unless I want it colored and highlighted. I may return. I may not. My options are limited. read more

These people are VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. So I came in with my 2 year old for a haircut, they asked if he'd sit still/ or cry while getting his hair cut. I told them that he might and told them let's see how it goes. So I sat my son on the seat and as soon as he heard the electric shaver he was starting to whine... immediately the lady told me that she wouldn't be able to do his hair, I told her can I at least have 5 mins to calm him down and to make him comfortable by showing him the electric shaver isn't scary. she just said "No" in a rude way (even tho the salon was empty)..We left immediately. The second night my husband wanted to try his luck with our son and see if he'd feel more comfortable with his dad by him side while getting his hair cut. So my husband gets out of work at 5:30, and on google this salon says they close at 7. So my husband comes home and picks up our son and goes straight to this place before they close, he arrived there at 6:05 and when he came in they told him that their already preparing to close and won't accept customers now... How can they prepare to close when they still have 55 minutes left (The sign out their door even says they close at 7) plus my son is hair isn't that long and I doubt it'll take more than 5-10 mins. So they told my husband to come back tmw around 6 (the same time he came that day, he said he'll give them a last shot), he comes back the second day around 6:10 and guess what.. he finds the salon closed. I just don't get who in the hell would reject customers and treat them unprofessionally, when you're preferring them over any other salon on the island. So my husband just takes him next door to super cuts, yes it's 8$ extra than what Lamour salon takes, but at least they were professional and even knew how to calm and make my son comfortable with their professional ways. I usually take my son for a haircut, pretty good price 13 bucks, considering that he hate getting his haircut and I have to sit in the chair with him hold him down and try to keep his head straight. The ladies here take it all in stride and know him lol. I decided to come and get a cut one day out of the blue since I was shopping in the Lake. Cindy the stylist was awesome. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and that is exactly what I got. Price was only 40 bucks for a wash, cut, and blowout. My usual place charges about 60. Went to this place twice in one day. Went to get my brows and lip waxed here for the first time. I hadn't gotten a face wax in a while and was nervous it would hurt. Anyway, it was a little awkward to have a random woman sitting under a dryer for her highlights as I was getting a wax. Cindy did my waxing and she was really good. Especially with detailing with a tweezer! Least painful tweezer experience in my life! Not too shabby for 20 dollars. :) Later on, my momma and I decided we should try out getting a pedicure. We really hate our feet so we were a bit ashamed when we walked in there with hammajang slippers and busted up feet. The two ladies didn't really give a damn. That's what made my mom much more comfortable. She and her lady chatted up the whole time, The woman I had, I think, couldn't understand too much English.
