I'm really happy with Trigen Appliance Repair. It had been difficult finding someone who could help service a gas range ignition issue for my tenants at my property in Seattle. Many vendors I reached out to were either simply not responsive or unable to work on the gas range type that I have at my property. After spending so much time researching vendors who may be able to help... I was really happy to have found Trigen Appliance Repaaur. My interaction with Thomas from Trigen from the get go, however, was a completely opposite experience from other vendors I interact with. Thomas was super responsive via any communications mode I had with him, be it yelp messaging, text or phone. I pretty much get a response (and not just canned responses..but rather..customized answers that were specific to my issues) from Thomas within 10-15 minutes. What I liked about Thomas from Trigen is..I think he genuinely cares and is passionate about the work that he does. He isn't all about money..and genuinely wants to help you resolve your issues. In a specific case, when I described my issue to him, he even suggested trying to diagnose something that may allow me to fix the issue without him even coming to service, which was a really nice attitude he had about his line of work. During the fixing process and because of me being a landlord living far away from my property, he updated me the progress and recommendations throughout the steps. Heck, he didn't mind fronting his own money first to obtain a part needed to fix my gas range either. I really appreciate Thomas' help and would wholeheartedly refer or use his service again in the future. read more

Please look at most recent reviews. This is the worst customer service I have ever received. I was reluctant to post my review but after seeing the way he responds to people who are critical of his work I decided to post because his service and treatment of customers seems pretty aweful. This images say it all. Here is a summary though: Poor Customer Service - Tried scheduling an appointment through Yelp. Thomas has me send him $120 through PayPal for the part he thought would be needed without actually coming out and diagnosing the problem himself. - Said the ordered part would take 7 - 9 days to arrive and he would should up and do the repair on the day of arrival. - On day 10, I texted and asked for an update. He said that because of Covid there is another 7 - 9 day delay. He could have shared that information ahead of time. - I waited another 11 days with no response. I asked for an update. He said that the part isn't here yet and he would just send me my money back. - So two times he missed the window of when he was supposed to be by with the fix and didn't make any effort to communicate. Then, finally just says that he isn't going to do the job at all. We waited on his service for 3 weeks without a washing machine then had to start at the beginning with another company. - I asked to get my money back. He said he had to wait to get refunded. So 21 days after I first paid him, he quits on the job, then tells me I need to wait longer for my money. 5-10 business days before he will refund me. - Unbelievably, 11 days go by. I have to ask about my money. - I had to send him picture after picture of our texts reminding him who I am, that he quit the job and even then he says another 3 - 5 business day's for him to return the product and get refunded. Finally, I show him where he already said 5-10 days. - He finally paid me back, with an extra 10 for the "inconvenience" - He then has the nerve to ask me to write a review for him providing what he suggest that I write. So I called Seattle Appliance Repair. - They came out the next day. - Diagnosed the problem. - Ordered part - they said 3-4 business days and made repair. read more

Based on the many good reviews I read here on Yelp, I called TriGen to fix my 4-yr. old Whirlpool dishwasher because it wasn't draining properly. Tom was super busy that day, but worked us in. I respect that in a business, the desire to serve the customer asap! He ordered the pump and the other needed part, and the very next evening - after a long day of doing other jobs all over town- swung by to install everything. I even told him it could wait a day or a few, because he mentioned his heavily-booked schedule that day & ETA. He insisted, 'Hey you need it done to wash dishes, and I'm gonna get it done for you!" Again, I respect the heck out of his work ethic, so TriGen gets Three-Thumbs Up, an A+, and 5 stars from my wife and I. I first contacted Thomas through Yelp messaging along with some other vendors. Thomas was the only one that actually tried to help me solve my issue through messaging and tried to save me money. After trying some things from YouTube and his suggestions, I couldn't get it done so I asked for a quote since this was a rental and he was willing to give one. I just appreciated him being up front and honest and he stuck to that. Just for that, I would recommend you hire him and I'd hire him again for my next appliance issue. After we moved forward on going with him versus other vendors, Thomas came in and fixed our Frigidaire dishwasher which wasn't draining at all. He came in and replaced the drain pump. Thomas is really dedicated to his craft, after the install of the new pump, it still wasn't draining to his satisfaction so he stayed a bit longer than expected until it drained just like it was before it needed repair. I love that he defends his work with a 2 year warranty for parts and labor - feels like he knows his work is good and he plans on not having to come back. I appreciate that confidence and commitment to his customers! It's hard to find vendors with such dedication to integrity, and as a customer, can't really ask for more since we are never the experts! We're living in a house for the first time after living in apartments for a 16 years and leaving everything up to the apartment management. Now it's down to us when things go awry -- and go awry they did. The newish LG washer and dryer with all the bells & whistles that we bought used on Facebook a few months ago flooded the laundry room! We mopped everything up, thinking it was a fluke and that I'd overloaded the machine, but when it happened again, I knew we were out of our depth. Faced with a pile of dirty laundry and no clean towels for the week, I worried about how I was going to find someone to come out on a holiday weekend. Tri Gen was the first ad I saw on Yelp and I called to see if he'd come to Tacoma. It was out of his range, but he told me if I couldn't find anyone to give him a call back. Just as I was despairing at finding anyone else on Yelp that was open on Saturday, Tom texted and told me he'd come on down for an extra $20 for the longer drive. I agreed to the price since it was out of his range and we definitely needed help, and he was at our house within 2 hours! We exchanged a few informational texts by phone, he quoted me a fair price, and when he arrived, he got to work right away after asking only a few more questions. After another 30 minutes or so of work, Tom explained at length in language we could understand what had happened and what he had done to fix it, and how it would not happen again because of what he had done. He guaranteed his work for 2 years and wrote us a receipt after accepting payment by PayPal. He was super friendly, positive, and even gave us recommendations when asked for a better brand of washer to buy on our next go-round. I would recommend Tri Gen in a heartbeat! read more

Tom provides excellent service. He was responsive, made surE we diagnosed the issue correctly, came ready with the parts, and repaired my oven bake igniter the samee day I reached out to him. He took before and after video of the igniter heating up, so I know he repaired the oven successfully. He also offered a 2 year warranty. My tenant said Tom was excellent. Before leaving, Tom said he thought the refrigerator was working harder than it should, so he cleaned the condesor coils for free! I will definitely call him the next time an appliance needs service. P/S: after cleaning the refrigerator condenser coils, Tom also recommended I get a surge protector for the fridge so that the expensive motherboard doesn't get fried during a power outage, and he even sent me a link to the correect item on Lowes. read more

LOOK AT THE MOST RECENT REVIEWS I called Tom in mid October regarding oven repair, he asked for the error, I provided it and he was sure it was the temperature sensor. He had me prepay for the part, did some promotion of his other real estate related business, without asking if I had any interest, I followed up with him 4 days in a row and each day he said he would come by, on the 5th day he finally did. Turns out the sensor wasn't the issue. Ok, no problem, mistakes happen. He then said it was the board, asked me to prepay for that ($340) and then, as you can see in the text exchanges below, he kept delaying and delaying and delaying of course that was only with me following up, he never proactively communicated. After 6 weeks he offered a refund, I said yes please refund it and he said he would. A few days later he said he had to wait to receive a refund from the parts house. Then the excuses continued for another month with him insisting he would pay it back as a matter of integrity. I rested the refund on Venmo, which is where I paid him, he rejected the request. This guy has issues. Poor communication, no integrity, poor skills, and is not doing his father or grandfather (the other two gens of TriGen) proud. Do not use him. His comment below is funny, First he told me he was refunded then changed the story. I have sent multiple payment requests and reminders via Venmo, I added a screenshot below showing the request send on January 6th, which i have sent reminders for, so he has my info. DON'T GIVE ANY MONEY UPFRONT!!! He had me pay him Paypal Friends and Family. Took my $90 and still hasn't refunded me the money saying his parts supplier is backed up. Continually says he'll refund me but never does. He says he'll pay me back but I've yet to see anything over a month later. Plus, still have a non-functional fridge. Given the other reviews, he's taking customers money as loans and has no intention of getting parts. read more

Tom deserves negative stars. He insisted on spending 7 hrs to fix my old dish washer when he should have just advised us to replace it. He watched Youtube videos during the appointment because " he just wanted to know for him own knowledge" while charging me by the hour. I asked him to stop the "fixing" since it was going no where and he kept saying it would just take a little longer. In the end my dish washer still didn't work and he tried to charge me $800 for his labor. We ended up paying him $500 just to make him go away and got a new dish washer for $480. A total disaster and waste of my time and money. Also, he drilled into my quartz countertop to secure the dishwasher. The screws fell right out and I am left with a damaged countertop. I didn't even want to pursue damage because this guy has some serious issues. I am compelled to warn other people about this extremely horrendous experience. read more

I came home to a dead fridge with warm food inside. Ugh! Tom was quick to reply to my request when I reached out in the evening after work. He quickly put me at ease and was able to provide accurate potential costs for the various potential issues. Tom broke down the quotes clearly, which gained my trust. He let me know that the part store was closed, so we made an appointment for first thing in the morning. He picked up the part and was soon at my front door. He was very professional and explained the repair and costs again before quickly getting to work. It never felt like a sales pitch or sketchy, which I've definitely gotten from small shops before. The repair didn't take long and he even helped me clean the coils, tighten the handles, and installed a surge protector before leaving. He made sure that I got the best cost on the part and even returned the old part for a discount to me. You can tell that Tom is passionate about his work and wants you to understand the issues as well. He values customer service and his relationship with you. I would highly recommend Tom and TriGen if your refrigerator or other appliances are having any issues! I'll keep this brief. Tom gets two stars because he fixed my fridge within the budget he stated over the phone. Unfortunately, he missed the first two deadlines he gave for his arrival, arriving about five hours after he initially said he would, without a call or text until the three-hours-late mark. I'll take responsibility for him having missed the third deadline, as I transposed two digits on my house number when I gave it to him. Once he got here, he refused to wear a mask, and within thirty seconds of being in my house was going on at length about how COVID-19 isn't real, and people are idiots for wearing masks. He literally argued with me about it, and wouldn't drop it until I flat out had to raise my voice and tell him to shut up. If you're in and out of people's houses all day, then potentially exposing them to disease by refusing to take precautionary measures is beyond irresponsible, as well as being criminal currently. Also, the kid swears constantly. That's fine if you're with your friends, but when you're supposed to be a professional? In somebody else's house? Two stars for technical expertise and being willing to troubleshoot over the phone with me. Negative three stars for a thoroughly unprofessional and disrespectful demeanor, as well as dangerously irresponsible behavior. I had high hopes given the 5 star reviews but my experience was terrible. First off when I made the initial call which was on a Saturday, to have our stove diagnosed at our rental condo he said he had availability the following Monday between 12-2pm. He asked me to text him the address and a brief description of the problem, which I did after we spoke. So Monday comes along and he he hasn't showed up yet, it's almost 2pm. I call him 3 times no answer. He finally calls back and explains to me that he had some customers appointments and that he's a one man show and sometimes stuff happens. Well a courtesy phone call or a text would have been nice!? And so now he says he can be there before 4pm and asks me to text him the address AGAIN. 3pm rolls around and I get this text from him: Tom -"So it's 3 o'clock right now and I have two customers that both want me to be there before four and there's no way I'm gonna be able to do both by four so I'm going to come to you first. By 4pm I receive a lengthy text message from him which goes as follows: Tom- "You're going to hate me for this but unfortunately I have to go where the moneys at today and I have three jobs that are refrigerators that just went shopping and filled them up and they literally just came in within the last hour and I really want to save their refrigerators as a bonus I'm actually going to be getting paid whereas I'm just coming to troubleshoot your range which I could easily do tomorrow so I'm gonna have to make an executive decision to go where I'm needed most and see you tomorrow If you hate me and want to write bad reviews about me that's OK I understand it was kind of a dick move but as a business owner I got to make choices When a family calls me telling me they just filled up their fridge from Costco and it crapped out I kind of feel for them the other family has a one-year-old and infant" ----So basically this guy Tom of Trigen will tell you he can help you and even make time but won't commit if there's more money to be made else where SMH. In addition, Tom provides a 2 year warranty on parts and labor which is almost unheard of. Scheduling is a bit tricky as it required a bit of follow up on my part. Communication is key. Only a week before Christmas and my refrigerator/freezer wasn't keeping its temperature. I was told by a previous "so-called" professional that I needed a new compressor. I called Tom and asked if he can replace my compressor and he said, " I don't replace compressors." I said, "OK thank you" and hung up the phone. Not long after that he called me back and asked me, "how do you know you need a new compressor?" I told him the story and he was appalled that the "so-called professional" didn't even pull out the refrigerator to take a look. Of course this is my first time dealing with a refrigerator issue so I really didn't know any better. Long story short, Tom was on his way within two hours. He drove an hour to get to my house on a Friday night. Within about 20 minutes he had fixed my refrigerator but wanted to wait a little while to make sure the compressor was regulating the temperature. While we were waiting he took a look at my dryer. (for free!) This took about 20 minutes, then he checked the refrigerator temperature and what do you know the refrigerator/freezer temperature had dropped dramatically! I was quite surprised to say the least. At this point I was a huge skeptic that my very old refrigerator was going to be fixed. Not only did Tom go above and beyond he kindly wore a surgical mask that I provided him. I have a weak immune system so I need to be extra cautious and Tom was more than willing to accommodate my request. Huge points! Tom really knows his stuff. This is a great business Tom responded quickly. Identified the problem in short order. Explained how he would fix it. Didn't try to "upsell", just repaired the refrigerator. While he was here, I mentioned some spilled tea in the refrigerator that settled in a spot I couldn't clean. I asked if there was a way to get to it. Tom took the drawers and flashing apart. I was able to give the refer a complete cleaning. Looks like new! Thinking this was amazing help, I took the liberty to mention that my oven temperature didn't register accurately. While Tom didn't repair the brand of oven, he told me about a screaming deal on Amazon for a infrared temperature gun that I could point at the oven and food to see the temperature. Wow what's stroke of luck calling Tom based on his reviews and family history! He came in like a cyclone asking me questions about my repair. Turns out I was addressing the symptom of the coils freezing up, not the underlying cause. When I noticed my fridge temperature spiking late Thursday night, I figured it was time to escalate and not burn hours more trying to handle it on my own. Looked up appliance repair places on Friday morning and called Tom. He answered right away and made a great first impression. Based on my description, he made a preliminary diagnosis (which turned out to be accurate) and we lined up a time for him to come by THAT AFTERNOON. More than anything, that was the clincher. He could have come by even earlier, but I needed to stay at work a bit longer. He showed up a little late due to Friday afternoon traffic, but 1/2 hour is nothing compared to the usual 4+ hour windows for service people. In about an hour he'd confirmed his diagnosis, thawed the coils, replaced the malfunctioning part, and put everything back in order. I even learned a few things during the process. Great experience. Send a quote request at 1:30am since my refrigerator died because of power outage. Tom answered within 10 min with a quote and time when he come to see it. Great work! The ice maker in my refrigerator/freezer was broken and I sold my house so I needed it fixed fast! It turned out to be a nightmare job because the parts listed by the maker didn't match what was actually inside the fridge! Short story: Tom is a legend. He was fast, super diligent, honest, smart, and he saved me thousands. Five stars for sure. Long story: I knew something was wrong when the freezer was just barely below freezing this morning. Tom came out on the SAME DAY and diligently investigated several potential causes of my problem. He tried replacing a couple parts and also set me up with his Dad who could replace the condenser if needed. In the end, after about and hour of troubleshooting, he found a tiny little spot on the motherboard that had burned, soldered a small repair, reinstalled everything, and voila ... a working refrigerator. This guy rocks, and he saved me a ton of money as I didn't have to buy a new fridge or replace the condenser.
