I called Bold & Short, and Vitalii was at our house about an hour and a half later. He diagnosed a failed heating element and had the dryer fixed and running in under an hour. The total came to $382, including parts, labor, and tax. That's very reasonable given how quickly it was done. He also took the time to answer our questions about whether to repair or replace, and gave us a straightforward, no-pressure take on heat pump dryers versus standard electric. He could easily have steered us toward a bigger job, but he didn't. Fast response, quick repair, fair price, and honest advice. We'll definitely call them again and would recommend them to anyone in the area.

I contacted Ben's Appliance about my leaking refrigerator and communicated with Elizabeth via text,…read morephotos, and several phone calls to diagnose the issue. I was given a tentative diagnosis and an estimated cost via text. When Ben came to do the repair, I was not home, but my mother was present. After the work was completed, my mother called to inform me of the total cost, which was double the estimate I was provided. I asked to speak with Ben to ask for clarification. As soon as I expressed my concern, Ben became highly agitated and began yelling, claiming the higher cost was due to taking everything apart. I had to ask him to stop shouting at me because I was simply trying to understand the charges, not to avoid payment. I also told him that I felt he should have discussed and explained what the problem was and the cost before the repair began, especially given the significant deviation from the estimate. When I told him what I was quoted, he said it was wrong and that he would "chastize" her later. After we hung up, he continued yelling at my mother in our home, then slammed the door after being paid. Once I reviewed the receipt, I noticed the reason the price was different was due to a "service fee". Not the additional labor cost to take everything apart, as Ben mentioned. Elizabeth was actually in the ballpark with the cost for the "repair". She just failed to mention the fee for them to come out. I called Elizabeth to provide feedback and to ask why this fee wasn't disclosed upfront. She said it wasn't mentioned because I "never asked." I guess I wasn't specific enough when I asked how much it would cost for them to come out and fix it. She then put me on speaker, and Ben again became defensive, yelling, and calling me a clown before abruptly ending the call. I understand that estimates can change, but fixed fees should be disclosed and discussed upfront. Treating a PAYING customer disrespectfully when requesting clarification is entirely unacceptable. I caution anyone considering Ben's Appliance.

They don't guarantee their work or stand by their service. Called in a different repair man for the dishwasher and he said that there was actually a leak. He removed the entire dishwasher and said that we actually needed a replacement.

At the visit, the technician (George) quickly gave an estimate of roughly 2K which I said I need to think about it. Then when I was ready to move forward they told me the quote was already provided and they could not apply the discount. This is so ridiculous bait&switch marketing. At no point they told me the discount needed to be applied at the initial visit. Seeing the bad reviews they have, I wouldn't be surprised they would find some other ways to deny the discount even if I told them during inspection. I was attracted by the discount initially without checking. Now seeing all the bad reviews, I wouldn't have confidence in them at all.

Gave me a cost to repair that was well beyond my budget and they fully understood. Would be cheaper to purchase a new machine. I think Appliance ER's diagnostic fee ($110) added value, and with a little additional work I was able to fix the issue myself.

Not to mention he was much more expensive than another repair we had used this same company for which took much much more time and more parts. we were happy with the care and cost of the previous repair (done by an actual appliance ER employee). Trying to get a fix is like pulling teeth and even when getting insurance information for a claim we are getting incorrect information and "not enough" or not correct information per the insurance company. With all of this said, make sure you have documentation of your condition of appliance before time and ask for an estimate ahead of time being that apparently it can vary WILDLY!
