Local establishment. Owner closed his prime rib place, The Brass Lantern. This place only open until 2 pm, daily, and closed on Sundays. Busy Saturday morning, a meal before running my errands. They no longer serve, egg whites, poached or hard boiled eggs. Mostly known for country ham, pancakes and waffles. I opted for eggs easy, or what server called "light", pancakes and smoked sausage. I sat at "2-top" (yes, I waited tables in my younger days) it was loaded with everything. Napkins, jelly, salt, pepper, sugar, bowl of creamers, ketchup and syrup. Good thing was just me when my food arrived. Lemon, with your water or tea, is a packet of lemon juice. They offer Coke products and tea. Eggs were perfect, pancakes thin, but flavorful, a big dollop of whipped butter. Syrup on table, not labeled but tasted decadent. They prefer exact change when paying cash. This is a great place to eat! It has been on my bucket list for decades; I'm 79 years old. I have lived in Florida for the past 25 years, and I drove back home to Pennsylvania many times. The timing never seemed to line up with stopping and eating, until last month, February 2025. I wasn't disappointed, I was amazed. Everybody from our waitress, to the lady bussing tables were observed doing their job with upmost competence, something you don't often see in today's world. As always, please "consider the source" when looking at poor reviews. The establishment has been around for dozens of years because the service is fast and friendly, the food is good and filling. If it wasn't, they'd have closed long ago. There's a line of a dozen people waiting every weekend morn because the food and service is bad? Geez. I'd recommend the country ham breakfast -- we even went 10 minutes down the road to purchase ham from the same place the restaurant does -- and wife loved her omelette. If you want an $11 omelette that is big enough to justify $11, go somewhere else. This is $6.50 and a portion that makes more sense. My sister and niece stopped for a take-out breakfast order here this morning and, given the generally positive reviews, are ambivalent about their experience. My sister ordered a BLT--it was delivered without the tomato and the bread was not toasted. My niece also ordered a toasted sandwich and, again, the bread was not toasted. Ten minutes after they left the restaurant, my niece spilled some coffee in her lap and it was so excessively hot they had to stop and put ice on it: fortuitously, they had ordered a cup of ice with their meals and my sister had a ziploc bag in the glove compartment. We wonder if the coffee had been heated in a microwave for it to still have been that hot. 2.5 hours later she's still cycling ice compresses on her leg. In contrast, the breakfast platter they brought to my mother was excellent. She loved the biscuit, scrambled eggs, and grits. She even said the ham was the best she'd ever had! We'll probably keep it on the list of potential take-out brunch options, but will stick to the more typical breakfast items and skip the sandwiches in the future. read more

After seeing the signs up and down I-95, I was finally rolling through on a day other than Sunday (Closed on Sundays!). The restaurant is quite clean, boasting the 98% rating from the local health department. I prefer counter seating, as I can watch the food being cooked, but there are also tables available. The waitress was quick to recognize my coffee deficiency, and got a cup ready promptly. The first thing that caught my eye was the "no swearing" sign. After some of the other places I'd been to on my travels recently, this was quite refreshing. After my first sip, and a few minutes to look at the menu, I got several items to make the combo I usually get at a National Chain with a similar sign. I was far from disappointed, with the eggs and grits cooked exactly how I like them. The waffle was also pleasing to the eye and palate. The hash browns were also just right, not too soft or crispy. 2 refills on the coffee, and I was satisfied. Easy access to the restaurant from I-95, but getting back takes a spin around the block. Looking for breakfast but needed it to go or take out because we were traveling with a dog. No outdoor seating, but we love local dives so we grabbed a menu and ordered take out. You know it has to be good here when the parking lot is packed and lots of happy people are walking out of the place. Country Ham and Egg sandwich was satisfying. Its a bit salty, but thats what good country ham is all about. If you are up for a good Southern not good for you breakfast, this place is for you. In addition to the sandwich, we also tried a Pecan Waffle. Waffles are a must here, and the pecan one was amazing. Not too sweet, but the gobs of fresh butter and syrup will make up for the sweetness. Wish we could have dined in, but glad they were able to hook us up with a take out option. I am very stingy giving 5, but today Triangle Waffle deserved it. The place was packed and found a seat for 4 of us in a corner of the place. From the minute we sat down, Pat (she) greeted us with a warm inviting smile. Her smile was infectious and she has such a wonderful personality. She brought us waters and I had a coffee, freshly brewed. Ask her for an opinion of breakfast, she was honest about which one would be delicious. She hit the mark. I ordered 2 eggs, grits, homemade buscuit and Kielbasa. It was all delicious, and I did not leave anything on my plate. All that and a really good price. Even as we paid at the counter, the nice lady was so sweet. I gave Pat a very nice tip. I would have given her more, I did give her a 33% tip. She was very appreciative and asked God to bless us and be safe. If you ever are close to Dunn, NC, you have to stop at Triangle Waffle. Good food and friendly service!!!! We've been passing the sign on I-95 for this place for years, but since we usually travel from the beach on Sundays, a visit wasn't an option. Well, this year we stayed a day later... I was looking for an alternative to the Waffle House, which I abandoned because of their despicable political affiliations. Why my partner thought this was a viable alternative, I'll never know. The biscuits were just so-so, and my waffle sogged under a heavy ladling of frozen strawberries and a ton of whipped cream. But we left full and happy. The place clearly attracts a crowd of believers, as one might expect, with patrons praying quietly at their tables. Our waitress wished us a blessed day, which is hard to take offense to. The marquee proudly proclaims "GODS NOT DEAD." But hey--from the billboards on the highway to the "No profanity--Jesus is Lord" sign in the kitchen to the menus advising you to "attend the church of your choice," you pretty much know what to expect from the get. My family and I stopped in here to get breakfast while we were on the road to Charleston, SC. We saw that the restaurant was full (which is usually a good sign in the north) and we were expecting some good breakfast good. There were four adults and two children, and there wasn't one table to accommodate us all so two adults sat at one table and the other two sat with the two children. This wasn't horrible but it was weird when the waitresses told us that we had different waitresses and would have separate checks. None of this bothered us, but it was kind of weird. Anyway, between the four adults we got two Hobo specials (sausage mixed into scrambled eggs with a side of pancakes), kielbasa and eggs, and country ham steak with one egg. The sausage and eggs had zero flavor. It was surprising because it wasn't even salty, it literally tasted like eggs with unseasoned ground beef mixed in. The pancakes were very gummy, like they were made with cornstarch. The kind of pancakes that soak up all of the syrup and then still need more syrup on top. I tasted my sister's ham steak and it was very good. They only had American cheese, and my sister got American cheese added to her (ONE) egg, and it was an additional charge of $1.50. This just seems excessive. Not that $1.50 is cost prohibitive, but it literally just seems like an excessive amount of money for a processed cheese slice. We were very underwhelmed with the food, to say the least. When you travel from the South from NJ/NY you expect some really good cooking. This place did not deliver at all. read more

Not being from the south, I walked in here and thought ok, this is food. Let's get this over with. It won't be anything special. Chose a basic breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. Party chose waffles and omelet and hash browns. Turned out to be amazing food that I did not expect. The biscuits are homemade fresh daily as the waitress said. They are super moist and even the egg in the sandwich is amazing. Damn good breakfast sandwich. Rest of the food was amazing as well. Everyone loved this place and the waitress was so friendly too.
