I recommend it to anyone that wants a peaceful drive through NC. I was wanting to stop at this old country store like the last time I took this route, but when I arrived, they are closed on Wednesday. And there was really no other place to stop and eat. Continue on 301 south till the next small town. Stopped at the next small town and saw a corner deli I thought I would try but they wouldn't be open for another twenty minutes. Dang, onward again and glad I did. Driving down 301 again I had to do a turn-a-bout after seeing the burger shack. It is connected to a mini-mart but I not fear. As I walked in and made it thru the foyer and into the counter area I could see this was another bona fide burger joint. Neil was happy the deli was closed. I ordered the cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and onion and fries, crinkle cut. The burger came out with the lettuce and tomato on the bottom to keep the bun fresh and the onion on top. They know what they are doing. Your not getting this at the big three burger chains. Not sure what else I can say but I believe I have been blessed by the roadside food shack gods on this road-trip. But (BIG but), it is a very small place next to a gas station /convenience store and it is frequented by LOTS of locals and is run by 3 nice older ladies. It took us over an hour to get 2 cheeseburgers and an order of tots. Also- they only take CASH. If you have the time and cash on hand, it's a decent burger and hot dog place, but not worth the it if you're just passing by or have only an hour for lunch.
