Sherrys Bakery has been here since I was a teen ager and I just turned 68. It's one of those "home town" places that everyone here has grown up with and of course, home town people support their own. The food and service is fast. The dining area is plain & Exactly the Same as it was for the past 38 years. My hubby loves their double cheeseburgers and hotdogs. I like the chicken salad. Our grand girls like the sweets behind the glass, where they can pick out & point to the exact one they want. That makes it better. No need to dress up. Go just as you are. read more

I have heard about the in place many times but I live about an hour away. I was in the area and I had to stop. I got 6 donuts to bring home. They were all very good and the worker was very kind. Believe me when I say I am an expert on bakery cakes and I can honestly say the graduation cake Sherry's made for my grandson's party was the BEST bakery cake I have ever eaten!!! I have not been there, but my daughter says it smells so good when you walk in! It's probably a good thing it's about an hour from me, or I would be a daily customer! Not being a local, maybe I just don't understand the nostalgia. It's located in the heart of downtown Dunn, NC and with 35 reviews, which seems to be a lot of reviews for any one place in this area. So, they got fans. The decor is dated, but not the dirty kind of dated. There is actually two parts of the business. One is the bakery counter and the other, is the grill. My husband inquired about a bologna sandwich, but he was told the cut is thin and the "Red brand" and that most people don't like it. We appreciated the honesty and stuck with appeasing our sweet tooth. I ordered the chocolate covered, cream filled donut. Honestly, I've had much better. The cream in the middle was minimum and was only in the center of the donut. My husband insisted that his donut didn't taste fresh. Maybe we each ordered the wrong thing, so I won't ding them too much. Just not a place that I'd go out of my way or walk two miles to get to again. read more

My wife had a yearning for a jelly donut yesterday, but wanted one that was better than Dunkin or Krispy Kreme. I saw a story about Sherry's Bakery in a local magazine in a doctor's office no less. They don't have a large selection of donuts but what they do have is delicious. She got her jelly donut loaded with jelly. One bite through five all had jelly. My Bavarian custard long John and donut were the same. Of course they have cakes and other stuff as well. There's also a dining area. They make all of our kids' birthday cakes. A bit pricey cuz while it has a cake kit it's not the really done up ones. The key is, the cakes are actually fresh and delicious. Their creme filled donuts are really good. So is the pound cake, choc. Ten layer, pineapple, red velvet,coconut and cupcakes. I have had better red velvet though, although it's good. Cheeseburgers have too much gristle. Stick with the cakes and donuts. The oatmeal pies everyone raves about taste weird. Maybe it's the spices. Just not that amazing. Best bakery around! Donuts are some of the best around! Great food and great prices. Lunch was good and priced fairly.

We usually stop in Dunn when driving 95, but this was our first time getting anything from Sherrys. Our girls were restless in the car with their baby brother crying for hours, so we promised them a special treat. Chocolate cupcakes for them were a welcome treat and they were swiftly devoured. I had one as well and it honestly did not wow me at all...it tasted like a box mix cupcake and jar frosting, which isn't necessarily bad, but I always hope for something a little more skilled from a bakery. My husband had an apple jack, which he enjoyed. Seems like the doughnuts are the real winner here, so next time we will be sure to eat those! We just did a grab and go due to Covid-19, but the interior doesn't make it seem like the kind of place you'd want to linger in. Disclaimer: we only hit the dessert counter, so I can't day anything about the breakfast or lunch experience. The cafe is huge...plenty of places to sit. The dessert counter is on the left side, and man is there plenty to choose from. They are known for their donuts, but I honestly didn't get the hype. The cakes along the wall looked really good, but where it's at for me is the oatmeal cookie sandwich. Holy moly...this is not little Debbie. This is amazing, homemade, delicious. Sherry's has been making my mom's birthday cake for the last decade or so. None of us live in Dunn, but one of the family makes the drive to pick up her cake every year. We just celebrated her birthday yesterday, and that ten-layer chocolate cake was just as good, if not somehow better, that it was the last time. It is cake perfection. The cake itself is perfectly moist and flavorful, with a delightfully airy crumb. I pick up just the slightest hint of lemon towards the end of the bite, as the cake just melts away. The icing is perfect accompaniment to the cake. Not too thick, but smooth, chocolaty, and light at the same time. It is what brings the cake together. I'd make the trip more often if I could. I love their apple fritters. It's worth making stop if your in the area, and as I type this I remind myself that I too should stop by more often. read more
