Excellent and compassionate service! I took my uncle, who is in poor health with very limited mobility, to Triangle Visions for his eye care. Natalie was incredibly patient and creative in working with his limitations. It is unfortunately rare to find medical professionals who are as caring towards disabled patients as Natalie was for us. She helped us through each challenge with a smile and an encouraging word. The entire staff at Triangle Visions is so friendly, from the security guard and receptionists to the optometrist herself, but Natalie deserves special recognition for making our appointment a positive experience. read more

Things have changed quite a bit there, for the worse, and although I decided I'd give them some time to get settled with new staff and new location, that time has passed and they have not improved. I like these people, I've been going here for over 20 years. Since they got bigger and more impersonal they have consistently delivered on one thing. THEY ABSOLUTELY CANNOT REFILL A PRESCRIPTION TO SAVE THEIR LIVES! I have no idea why such a simple function is impossible for them to perform. You can use their web site "text" function, which is a third party provider who has no ability to renew a prescription even though they say they'll "send it through". You can call the office, but if they are busy it goes through to a third party provider who ALSO cannot get them to refill a prescription. Even if you get to talk to someone if the office - nope, take your info, no prescription refill. The only way I've managed to avoid going blind for the past 2-3 years is I e-mail my doctor's personal e-mail address and she takes care of it (literally within minutes). It's INCREDIBLE that they can't achieve this simple function. So nice people, but if you're going to need a prescription find somewhere else, that is NOT a service they feel they can provide for you. read more

It is 9:44 a.m., and I have yet to be seen by the Optometrist for my 9:00 am appt. I usually schedule a morning appt so that I can get in and get out on time. This is very disappointing because I have to be at work for an important meeting. Equipment was dirty, which I pointed out, and the technician cleaned it. The office person tried to overcharge me, and I pointed that out. You have to be on guard when you come to Triangle Vision now. It used to be a great place when Dr. Clark and Dr. G owned it. Triangle vision has been our provider for 30 years, they were like family to me. I was shocked to find out that last fall the practice was bought out by a new corporation. I am concerned they are down to only one doctor at the Durham location. In addition, with this change they don't take the same insurances the use to take. In looking at reviews, fancy new office but now lacking the excellent service they are known for. A word to the wise, if you have an appointment call and see if they take your insurance and if your regular doctor is still there. I looked and found a different provider/location in chapel hill; that practice has Dr. B who was formerly at Triangle Vision. read more

I ordered contacts that Dr. Boykin had previously told me were a 2-3 day lead time. Triangle Vision took $240 from my credit card (4/19), then shutdown without prior notice to change locations. This change was a week, then 10 days, then 2 weeks, now unknown. I have called repeatedly, but end up at an an 'appointment center' that cannot answer questions about orders. I have requested to be contacted 2-3 times, but still nothing. I have no idea if my contacts were ordered (only 'the office' knows and they are not contactable). I am rather agitated that they effectively have no phone service, took my money, and refuse to contact me about the contacts that I ordered. Nobody seems to care at Triangle Vision.... In the past, they have been really good, but this experience is crazy. 5/10 Update: I went to the facility to pickup my contacts (they never called) and was greeted by 4 people at the counter who had no idea where to look. They eventually found my contacts in a drawer. I expressed my frustration with the terrible customer experience (they disappeared for almost 3 weeks and had no working phone to this moment) - I got blanks stares and a "Have a Nice Day". No concept of customer service. I will NOT be back there - terrible. read more

The doctor is wonderful. The office staff is helpful. But the call center is terrible. You can no longer call directly to the office. All calls go through a call center that is clearly not in the USA. They don't speak very good English and are not very helpful. The optometrist is kind and thorough, but when it's time to purchase your glasses, the remaining staff completely ignore you. I stood in the store for 45 minutes trying to get help to just purchase a complete set of glasses (I had already decided on my frames), but because there is only one person in that section the remaining staff (at the desk, in the file room, assisting the optometrist) ignores you. I eventually just left and order my glasses elsewhere. Very strange. read more

I got confirmation from them that the issue is with the office itself ("Yes we are in-network but we do not accept from your insurance.") and NOT with my insurance nor my vision coverage. Staffed is nice, helpful and professional. Everyone had on mask and temperatures are taken upon arrival. No long wait. They didn't have a lot of frames so it's not so overwhelming. Some frames are a bit overpriced but I was able to stick within my budget. This Company is unprofessional, disrespectful, uncaring for their patients. I had an appointment to come in on Monday had to cancel because I was out of town. I did call them and left a message. I rescheduled the appointment. My appointment was for 230pm. I left early because of the bad weather and accidents. I called them while I was on my way to let them know. When I walked in the door it was 245pm and they were waiting on others. I waited in line by the time they waited on me it was 248pm and I was told they will not see me because I was late. I told her I wasn't late and you will see me. I'm not going back home after I did everything I could to get there for my appointment. We argued and she told me to leave. I told her I will be filling complaints. I came back and got my medical records and left. Today in the mail I get a certified letter from them saying they will no longer offer me services and for 30 days emergencies only. Are you kidding me? Twice you refused to see me gave poor service and now you want to make it look like I'm the bad guy here NOT Funny thing I already located another eye doctor who is head above shoulders over these classless clowns. I and my family went here for over 10 years. The service was good, but there was a lot of turnover in staff. Apparently their business practices changed and things went downhill fast. The last time I went there they undercharged me $20 at checkout. Next time I heard from them a clerk from their central office left me a message saying their were turning my "unpaid bill" over to a collection agency, and I couldn't get the results from my very expensive test until I had paid in full. This company has billed my insurance for thousands over the years, but they thought it appropriate to threaten me for an "unpaid bill" that I didn't know about. I haven't been back since. read more

Exam went well and Doctors are great!!! The service went out the window when I order my glasses. I order 4 pair of glasses and was told that they would be back in 2 weeks. And I was told we will call and text when your order is in. 2 pair of my glasses are in, never got a call nor text. I called and was told my other 2 pairs would be in the next day. I called the next day and was told that they might be in due to lunches and staff meetings no one has check to see if they had been delivered yet. Spoke with the so-called office manager. That was a waste of time. I would have thought she would have followup, didn't even offer to check to see if they were there. I just want my glasses that I paid 1700.00 for and they will never have to worry about me being a patient again or even recommending the practice. read more

I called to make an appointment for my boyfriend and I and they were able to get us in their office the next day! Got our insurance information over the phone so the whole "check-in" process at their office was a breeze. The staff here were very attentive to my BF and I and really kind! I never felt rushed or judged in any way. All in all my appointment was fairly quick which I really appreciated! Dr. Lyerly saw both my BF and I and we both agree she's great! She's super sweet and makes you feel comfortable! She took the time to explain things to me and even offered me advice on how to get the most out of my insurance regarding glasses vs. contact lens. Following the exam both my BF and I picked out our glasses there. The selection is not enormous but still big enough that I had quite a hard time figuring out which frames I wanted! Staff did not rush me in any way despite the fact that I took a really long time and basically went through their entire inventory. Truly I was all over the place and had their frames all over too but they didn't give me any complaints. Many of their frames do run above $100, so if you're looking for cheaper options they not have the best selection for you. They did give me an estimated wait time of 2 weeks to have my glasses ready, which is longer than I'd like to wait. read more

The receptionist was nice, the staff seemed nice. The only issue.....I waited quite a bit to be called back to do the preliminary test before seeing the optometrist. I was there over an hour before seeing the optometrist. Once she came in we spoke for about 10 minutes. Nothing wrong with my eyes, but it was a little drawn out. There was one person waiting with me. After he left another patient joined me so I assumed they were not busy. The location is super convenient for me so I will go back. I had heard good things about this practice in the past, but I cannot recommend them at all after my experience. At my appointment today, I found that the clinical staff were mostly fine as far as the actual exam went. The entire practice has a single problem, however: they focused on upselling items and procedures that were beyond what my vision insurance would cover. On top of that, they did not take a measurement that would allow me to get my actual glasses. When I inquired about that, I was told that if I wanted to have the measurement taken, it would be an extra $25. Needless to say, I will be finding another place for my eye care in the future. read more

Dr. Glupker is extremely friendly and thorough. I've been going to this location for about 10 years. It seems that they've fired most of their good employees and their service has taken a HUGE nose dive! When it came time for me to choose a pair of frames, the frame specialist acted as though I was bothering her and didn't want to be bothered with me. She pulled out 1 frame and was like "this is all we have for you". I gladly took my prescription and business to Lens Crafters at South Pointe. The bigger stores have more selection and more flexible hours anyway. My advice, don't waste your time.. This place as poor service and you'll wait 30 mins past your appointment time, on average, to be seen.... read more

There's not a "site" for their newest location off of Creedmoor Rd in N. Raleigh, so I figured I would post my review here. This was my first time at TVO, as my other optometrist had moved locations. Dr. Brett Miller is the optometrist at the Creedmoor Rd location and was nothing but friendly and upbeat my whole exam. She reassured me about some concerns that I was having and adjusted my prescription slightly as necessary. She left me feeling confident that I could come back again and get it fixed if I had a problem. I will say that some of the items normally performed by my old doc were done by the assistants here. Not a problem, just different. They ordered my contacts and were very understanding about my asking for a glasses prescription (some docs don't like this as this means less $$ to them). My contacts came in in a timely manner and were shipped directly to my house. I had a great experience and have been recommending this location to my friends. read more

Great eye doctors, poor staff and poor selection for eye glasses.

I hate having to write this review but I feel my experience is something ALL customers at Triangle Visions Optometry need to be aware of. I went in for my yearly eye exam with the intentions of purchasing new frames. My interactions with Dr Wells and his assistant were, truthfully, great. My issues and concerns stem from my interaction from their optical sales representative, whose name I will leave out, out of respect. The day of my visit I went in having an idea of the frames I wanted, as they were an updated version of the frames I currently have. Unfortunately, they didn't have the frames I wanted, but luckily I did my research and knew that not only did they carry the brand of frames I was looking for, but I knew the fames name. I asked the associate if they would be able to order the frames which he stated they would be able to. During my interaction he suggested the lenses I should purchase and the coatings I should have applied to them, which was expected. I agreed to the items they offered/suggested and I asked questions concerning other options. All in all pretty standard. Near the end of our interaction, prior to and after paying he advised me of the warranty that I had on my lenses and frames. Pretty much everything was covered minus if they were lost or stolen. After paying I went on with my day. When I got home I looked over my bill and noticed my first concern. Having done my research on the frames prior to going in, I knew the amount the frames should cost. The price amount was not only priced on the brands own website, but on EVERY other website that carried those frames including Lenscrafters. The price for the frames were $143. However, I was charged $220. Now I know sometimes there can be mark ups, but a $77 dollar difference is pretty excessive. My next concern was a warranty charge of $25. I was NEVER asked if I wanted a warranty, I was only told that I do have one and what it did and didn't cover. I can only assume that the representative either forgot to offer me the warranty, assumed he offered it, or shady billing practices. Considering I was a first time customer and this is my first impression; I would assume that my billing issues stem from shady billing practices. Triangle Visions did take advantage of me as a new customer. To be transparent about my experience I did call them when I noticed my bill and they did state they would correct it for me without any argument on their end, but at this point I feel like they're not only a deceitful office/ company but also an office/ company that doesn't believe in their own Core Values, which are listed on their website: Trust & Integrity By doing the right thing, we will earn the trust and respect of the employees, patients and communities we serve. Not only have they shown they can't be trusted but they surely don't have my respect. read more

I have been a patient of Triangle Visions Optometry for 20 years (that's right, since 1996) so my review is a little biased since I love Dr. Clark so much! The wait is never long and while you do wait, there is a Keurig coffee station with complimentary coffee and tea as well as peppermints and twizzlers! The staff is always a cracker jack team of the nicest people that Dr. Clark could have only hand picked and the actual appointment with him always goes smoothly. Dr. Clark is always honest, professional and friendly and I love hearing updates on his family when I ask about them. I just can't say enough positive things about this team but if I had to point out anything negative, it would be that I only get this much attention yearly! I have taken my son here and one of my sisters came here when she needed a second opinion and Dr. Clark diagnosed her within one appointment! Told you I was biased.... read more

Really nice people, and the doctor didn't mind taking extra time with me, due to all 206 of my questions to weigh my options, try different lenses, etc. There was a mix up and my appointment was inadvertently scheduled for one of the other offices. Yet, when I showed up at the Durham office, Deanna and Darrielle were very accommodating, finding a way to make room for me, so I didn't have to reschedule. Good job on that! Dr. Lyerly is fantastic - so much so that I followed her to Triangle. This was my first trip to this location and I was so thrilled at the service from the second I walked in the door. Check in was quick, efficient and friendly. My appointment was smooth and all staff was very knowledgable. Dr. Lyerly is an incredible doctor- knowledgable, informative, and kind. You feel well taken care of and never rushed. I really feel lucky a friend referred her to me years ago. Following my eye exam, I found two wonderful pairs of glasses with help from their knowledgable staff and ordered my contacts for the year. The staff did a great job explaining my insurance and informing me how to best use it for maximum savings. What I loved most is that I didn't feel like just a number to them- I felt like my experience mattered. I'm very pleased and can't wait to pick up my new glasses! read more

When I moved to NC last year I went to Triangle vision and had a great experience. And because I am a computer scientist who is approaching 50 - my eyes worsen quite rapidly. I was eager to have my second appointment with them --- BOY-OH-BOY was I disappointed. My appointment was scheduled as the last appointment of the day. The Doctor I had seen before - was no longer at this location... so I was seeing a new one. I did not mind the 10 minute wait in the waiting room - because - again I was the last person of the day - so I knew things can get behind. I didn't mind the 15 minute wait in the exam room - because I was able to relax and play games on my phone -- I actually did a 10 minute meditation. - The shock came during the actual exam -- which was - mind you less than 5 minutes total. She never spoke with me about my dry eyes -- which I was told last year was the most severe case they had seen... She never spoke to me about my habits, concerns, astigmatism, optic nerve - NOTHING. She showed me literally - THREE options of "this one - --or this one" (Hand to god - only 3!!) bumped my prescription up one level per eye and walked out. That entire eye exam was quicker than writing this feedback! When I stepped out and started to shop for frames - it was clear they were waiting to go home. - This was not my fault -- I hadn't even had a legitimate exam. I ended up going to different Triangle visions to pick out my frames a few days later - and when the glasses came (over 1000 dollars later between regular and sunglasses) I still can't see the instrumentation in my car OR my computer at work because the prescription is not correct -- MAJOR disappointment. And now my Insurance has been used for an eye exam that did not correct my vision (It really didn't even take place - I don't think- I never saw anything CLEARLY) - I can't stress enough - after years of eye exams - how inappropriate this exam was. I felt as though the optometrist had no idea how to complete an eye exam. And somehow I was getting a skimpy exam because of their poor scheduling or inabilities... The office staff is pleasant and the selection of frames is good -- but DON'T pay to get your eyes checked - it doesn't happen. read more

I really tried to come here twice now, both of the times it failed. First time, I made an appt and I told them I needed a full exam -- they asked me when my last exam was and I told them it was done a month ago, but not under my vision insurance so you don't need to worry about my eye exam getting covered. They fought with me about how my insurance will not cover it despite me telling them it will. They nagged me about getting my ssn and I told them that's unnecessary as you can just look up my insurance with the info I have provided. They argued with me again. (This is all over the phone by the way prior to me even walking in) So anyhow-- I was like screw it-- I don't want to come in to a place who is giving me such a hard time in just getting an appt-- Then I went to another optometrist only to find out that that person Is leaving the practice a week later-- I did not want that as I wanted to see the same person throughout my contacts fitting--- So then I called this place up again to make an appt and then I called them again a week before my appointment to confirm my appt and they said oh u don't have an appt - stood on the phone for 1 hour trying to figure it out. Then I gave up! Found an appt out of state where I'd be for the holidays bc it was already dec 15th and I needed to use my insurance before the end of the year. Thanks for screwing me over guys! But wait get this: Then 5 days later someone calls to confirm My appt -- and I'm like what? I called and spoke to 2 different people and I was told I don't have an appt and all of the sudden 2 days before I fly out, I have an appt?!! I moved to the area 1.5 years ago and needed to find a new eye doctor for a general check-up. I saw the two reviews here and decided to go because of the good reviews. Pros: Takes a lot of different insurance plans Cons: Disorganized doctor, long wait, expensive frames My first appointment was on a Monday. They dilated my eyes and could not get an accurate reading for my glasses so I was told to come back in a couple days (supposedly the dilation solution was too strong). I came back just to get my prescription checked, which ended up taking at the most 10 minutes. I waited in the office (which did not seem that busy) for 50 minutes before I was seen by the doctor. After I was seen by the doctor, I asked the front desk if I could have a copy of my prescription, and the doctor hadn't entered it in the system so they could not give it to me. He was with another patient and they told me to leave because they didn't know how long I was going to have to wait. Even during the appointment I got the impression he was really disorganized, but not entering my prescription sealed the deal. I will not be returning. read more

Long story short, if you actually need contacts, don't come to TVO. You won't be able to get any. If you want details on my experience, read on! I came in for a routine annual eye examination with a contact fitting. I was unhappy with my last optometrist because of a poor contact fitting and ordering experience, so I looked at reviews online and decided to try out TVO. I actually had a good appointment at TVO. I was admitted on time, and the office was very nice and equipped with lots of equipment that I'd never seen before, suggesting that they keep their technology up to date (more so than other offices I've been to in the past). I felt Dr. Graves was very thorough during the eye examination and diagnosed a pre-existing latticing problem that I had. She answered my questions thoroughly. She modified my contact and eyeglass prescription slightly, and told me that she'd order in a sample for me to test out. I was worried about being able to use the balance of my flex spending account to make my annual contact purchase. I was also on my last pair of biweekly contacts, because I'm very diligent about changing them on time, so I really needed contacts soon. I informed Dr. Graves of my concerns, and she said not to worry. She told me that the contacts should arrive in a couple of days, before the holidays, and I could complete my annual order in this calendar year. This exam was performed on Friday morning, 12/12/2014. This is where my experience began to sour. I asked at the front desk about my sample contacts and whether or not I'd need to schedule an additional appointment to make a large contact order. I was told there that I'd be contacted when the samples arrived, and we could figure out the additional details then. I didn't hear back from Triangle Visions for over 2 weeks. Granted there was the Christmas and New Year's holiday in between, but I figured I'd at least get a call letting me know what the status of my samples were. On Friday 1/2/2015, I called the Durham office to inquire about the status of my samples. The receptionist looked into it while I was on hold, and told me that there was a problem with the manufacturer. She told me that she would contact the manufacturer and call me back with a status update. Of course, I never received a call back with any updated information. At this point my last pair of biweekly contacts were 4 weeks old, and felt dry and itchy in my eyes. This also put me at high risk of eye infection and they were not adjusting to my astigmatism properly, which made my vision blurry. I threw them away, and began to use my glasses exclusively. Of course now this meant that I couldn't play any of my regularly scheduled team sports or wear sunglasses in the car, causing me more inconvenience and safety hazards. The following Monday, 1/5/2015, I called back into the Durham office to see if anything had been resolved. I got into contact with the front desk on my first try, and was put on hold while the receptionist looked into my sample situation. She told me that she would have to take more time to investigate, and would call me back within the next 20 minutes. Miraculously, I actually did receive a call back in fifteen minutes with the news that the contacts had only been ordered on 1/2/2015, and would take 5-7 days to arrive. They told me that they would call me when they arrived... I further inquired about whether or not I'd need an additional appointment to check the sample prescription, and make a larger order for the rest of the year. At this point, I was also not sure that I could use my 2014 Flex Spending to purchase them, so that was great also. They had no idea at the front desk, and put me on hold again to investigate. While I was on hold, I was disconnected. When I called back, I got an automated voice message that said they were "busy assisting other patients". It's been over half an hour since I was disconnected and left a voicemail asking them to please call me back, and I've not yet received a call back from TVO. Fortunately, all this waiting time gave me the opportunity to write this long-winded review of their poor customer service. read more

I moved to the triangle 3 years ago for college, but since then had been making the long drive home for all medical appointments. I finally decided that it was time to settle down and find a local eye doc when my eyes started bothering me during exams. When I called, they worked around my schedule and squeezed me in asap, even though it probably wasn't as convenient for them. I also felt right at home when I went to the office in Cary. The office itself is nice and I could not have been more impressed with the patience that the doctor showed me! He made sure not to just prescribe me a medicine without explaining exactly what was going on and why. When I came in for my follow up 2 weeks later, he remembered everything we spoke about, from my school to my eye issue. Whether you're a college student or an entire family, this place is exceptional. As a marketing major, it really was refreshing to see business professionals apply their personal values to their work. If I decide to stay in the triangle area, my future family will be coming here! read more

I have been a patient here since 2003 and don't envision ever making a change. The staff are fantastic!!! Dr Glupker once took my emergency call on Thanksgiving day while he was on vacation. The optical staff know what they're doing and will go out of there way to satisfy customers. Some may say their prices are higher. Well I say "You get what you pay for". Don't be fooled by low prices elsewhere. Try them, you'll love them! read more

I went to Triangle Visions for the first time today to get my annual eye exam. I'm always a little nervous for any kind of check-up, so today was no different. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the ladies sitting at the front desk. They were super friendly and told me exactly what paperwork I needed to fill out. Then, I was called to the back to get the pressures of my eyes, some photographs, etc. before the actual doctor saw me to do my exam. I met with Dr. Anthony Clark today and he made my whole experience very comfortable. I told him about how I graduated from UNC and he even cracked a joke about the rivalry between UNC and NC State since he went to NC State. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my questions thoroughly. When he was explaining to me about which contact lenses he wanted me to have, what he thought were best for my eyes, etc. he seemed VERY concern for me and my eye health, which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend Dr. Clark! I had to kick it down a star for the eyeglass selection. There wasn't a whole lot of frames to choose from and also, most of them were on the expensive side. The frames specialist said to me that there were frames from $100 to $400 and all I could think was, "Where are the $100 frames? Because all I see are the ones that are $250 and above." Just finished up an appointment about 30 minutes ago and was disappointed in how charges were handled, especially for patients paying out of pocket. I will say that the staff is professional, courteous and services rendered were thorough. Facilities were well maintained and comfortable. However.... I was quoted $60-$90 for a contact lens fitting and was handed a bill for $231.00 at the end of the visit..without a single flinch. I was advised on only one single charge outside of the original quote and that was $39.00 for a eye photo, which I agreed to, and which was fair. Naturally, when dealing with patients who are paying out-of-pocket,I think its advisable to be fully clear on what you are charging them. I still would have paid, but feel disappointed that cost of services were not communicated in an upfront, and straightforward manner. This leaves the client feeling slighted. I could deal with waiting in a room for 35+ minutes, but find both hidden charges (if I wasn't advised on it, it's hidden!) and long waiting times unacceptable. Though this probably doesn't represent the majority of visits (if i paid with insurance, who cares?) I definitely would advise anyone paying out of pocket to be very careful.
