It has been 6 weeks since my eye exam. A pair was ready for pick about a week later. Double vision correction was in the prescription. The glasses did not correct the double vision. I was told that the lab made a mistake. The glasses were sent back to be replaced. After another week or 10 days I was told my glasses were ready for pick up. Still seeing double vision. The vision was somewhat better but still experiencing double vision. Sent back again and I was assured they'd be correct. Less than a week later I got an email saying the glasses were ready. When I got there the glasses weren't. I was told I got the email as a computer glitch. Tuesday when I called I was told the glasses had come in Monday. I waited until today (Friday) to pick them up. Still didn't correct the double vision! They wanted to schedule me for another eye exam. In the 60+ years I have never had to have a second eye exam. BTW I'm not a fan of remote eye exams. The exam was conducted from a site unknown. Interaction was via video. I asked for a refund since I have zero confidence in this practice. They said I couldn't get a refund for the exam. I seem to recall somewhere in the mumbo jumbo of disclaimers that was mentioned. I have their prescription from the original exam. I will visit a dependable eye doctor and have him compare the MyEyeDr script with his results. If I could give zero stars I would. The people in the office are fine. The ability to deliver their product is atrocious! read more

Do not trust these people! I tried them because they were close to my home and appearance from the street was nice. Boy was I wrong and it cost me BIG time. I scheduled my appointment and gave my insurance information. Upon again I gave my insurance information on the registration forms. The front desk told me what was covered by my plan. I went back and Dr Raess was very good. Shevwas professional and I was pleased. I was sent back out front and found out they did not stock contacts ... even my common prescription so they would have mine shipped in ... 5 to 7 days. I come back and go to settle things (they had my insurance already) and instead of the 6 months supply my insurance was suppose to cover I was billed for a year ... an extra $222. I figured I was there and would need them so I went on and paid for them ... a $257 bill paid in full that day. About a month later I get a bill for EVERYTHING because the insurance filing went wrong. For 2 months I chased insurance things down with no help from MyEyeDr because all billing is done in a 800 phone service center which I believe is offshore ... NO HELP FROM THE LOCAL OFFICE! I think I've finally got things straight and the insurance will handle the balance. Another month passes and I get another bill ... after I paid $257 upfront which was supposedly was the balance ... for another $162 because the insurance didn't cover the fitting and the amount of lenses I was told it did. I try to contact MyEyeDr but again get pushed to their 800 phone service center and again receive NO HELP. I call the local office and left messages asking for someone to return my call ... 2 DAYS later and they have yet to return my phone call. PATIENT BEWARE ... you better know what your insurance covers ... DO NOT COUNT ON THEIR FRONT OF HOUSE. Beware of the front also selling things you may not want. I have utilized MyEyeDr locations in Chapel Hill and Southpoint for more than 7 years, trying to be patient with seemingly untrained staff and continual errors. Both locations warrant this 1-star review. While I've never had any issue with the actual optomitrists or the care they provide, the office staff is consistently not good. Each annual visit has resulted in one or more of the following: incorrect prescription lenses ordered; inaccurate fittings resulting in lens reorder; incorrect billing; inability to understand insurance; no notification that glasses/contacts have arrived (I have to call to check each time); non-chalance and lack of responsibility for any errors; visible annoyance of customers who need a bit more help or ask questions about products and bill. As a patient, after every visit you receive a "How Did We Do?" survey via email from "CEO and Co-Founder, Sue Downes", which I try to provide useful, constructive feedback on. But I'm done trying to help them manage the practice better because in 7+ years, nothing has improved, it has only gotten worse. I'm done with this place. This location was unable to order replacement lenses for my glasses after 5 weeks. They placed 2 orders for lenses that were too large,and 2 "ghost" orders that were never actually submitted. They have ordered the same lenses for the same glasses in the past. The staff here is lazy and rude. When I went to pick up my lenses, that were obviously incorrect, they had us wait 20 minutes before telling us they messed up again. I'm not sure what is difficult about reading a frame number or tracing them to get new lenses (supposedly done twice by 2 different people); but it is clearly beyond the ability of the staff here. The eye doctor at this MyEyeDr was great. However, the charge for the contact fit was ridiculously high. I asked about the charges before my exame started and was told the front desk would handle that after my exam. MyEyeDr charged $145 for the contact fit. When I went to check out, I was not able to see the breakdown of the charges for my visit until I paid my balance. I was only told verbablly what the charges were. My previous eye doctor only charged $40 for the same contact fit service. I went to MyEyeDr because it was more conviently located, however, I will no be going back to MyEyeDr for my next eye exam. I will go back to my previous eye doctor in Cary. read more

Apparently the Southpoint (Durham) office has enacted a new policy -- if you don't call them back and officially confirm the appointment you made less than a month ago at a time that worked for your schedule, they will give it to someone else. Confirming via text message isn't sufficient. I got no communication about this new policy (email, text, or phone), they did not warn me that this was a thing when they called me (on a Saturday), and they sent me a "we're looking forward to seeing you" text yesterday. I only found out they'd considered me a no-show when I showed up on time for my appointment after leaving work early. This office is no longer in a convenient location for me, but I liked the provider, Kristi Raess, and was OK taking an hour out of my day to drive there once a year. But this is the third poor patient experience I've had with the front desk folks, so I'll be finding a new provider tomorrow. None of my other providers do this nonsense. read more

I went in for en eye exam and to purchase a pair of perscription glasses and sunglasses. Needless to say it was not a smooth experience. I was supposedly called from them the following day but no message was left. I was then called the following week to be told that one item was not doable unless I drove 30 min away to purcase the items and bring them in. I decided to cancel my order with them as I am not sure, with all my data and perscriptions I could not have gotten a straight answer at the time of purchase even if I had to pay more for what I wanted. So after caneling the order I have waited two weeks to find out they they still have not completed a relase of funds from my insurance. A month in and still no glasses. I would avoid purchasing anything through them and go through your insurance online for an easier experience. read more

just found out i was only given 6 mths supply of contacts but my order form shows 12 mths supply? this yr when i made my appointment i thought i would see a provider in person get to the office and told it's virtual? if i had know this i would have canceled and found a another providers office. i was not happy the service. was told i had double vision? when i askjed about it they brushed it off. i think a virtual visit for eye care is a joke. since 2021 i've been saying this is my last year dealing with myeyedoc. after my visit 2023 is my last visit. i liked the doctor @southpoint and chapel hill but sadly you can no longer see them . next year i plan on seeing unc! and if you must come to myeye doc order your own contacts, glasses. the admin staff at southpoint were very rude and had no clue what they were doing! i'm sorry your company has gone to shit! read more

Great location! I love the small shop atmosphere as its easier to select a frame. Now that's my personal preference as I feel to many frames would make it difficult to select. The "main doctor" wasn't there at my visit but the fill in doctor was awesome. I hadn't been to an eye doctor in over 15 years. The visit was nice as I was instructed that I must have glasses. The selection process was great. The glasses came in and I received a text message from the office. I went in and picked them up and all of this took place within 2 weeks. Being new to the state, I had to find an eye doctor pretty quickly because my prescription had expired and my vision was changing. I found my eye dr because it was next to my work and easy to get to. The ladies at the front reception desk are a little slow and a little frazzled when you come in. The desk was covered in paper work and I personally couldn't work in that environment, but hey, to each his own. They were really nice to us though, always friendly. The actual eye doctor was so sweet and helpful. She explained things thoroughly and in a way I could easily understand. Joel helped us find glasses (my fiancé and I both went together at the same time). He was helpful with promotions and saving us some money though we had some trouble understanding how he explained it the first few times. Once we got on the same page though, it made sense to do the promo. We will probably use them for our future eye appts. My new glasses are totally different from my last pair but I like them! If you change your mind you do have 30 days to restyle and choose something different which is nice. read more

If I were reviewing Dr. Glover and the office as a whole I would rate them closer to a 4 or 5. Last I was there I saw Dr. Raess and will not be returning. I am a healthcare provider and was disappointed by how rushed Dr. Raess was and how annoyed she seemed by my number questions. My contacts weren't fitting correctly, I was worried my prescription had changes and my current brand made my eyes dry (all reasonable questions and concerns for an annual appointment) After the exam she brought a new pair of contacts back that still left my vision a little bit fuzzy. I voiced this concern and she said she was going to get another pair to try. I guess she was frustrated by the amount of time I was taking up because I heard her in the next room seeing another patient when she said she was grabbing another pair of contacts for me. About 5 minutes later, I hear her in the exam room next to me seeing another patient. She returned 15-20 minutes later with another pair of contacts for me. I understand that it can be frustrating when you are working in a busy clinic and patients have lots of questions but at least be honest and say you have to pop in and see another patient and that you will be back in 15 min instead of pretending to be getting another pair of contacts. If you want a practitioner who values your questions and interest in your own help and doesn't rush you out the door find another practice or track down Dr. Glover, he was wonderful. read more

I love the people who work here. The doctor, receptionist, eyewear specialist, and whoever produced my last two pairs of glasses, totally rock. Last year's exam led to an upgraded Rx, and the pair I received had multiple, weird, tiny parallel cracks/lines across both lenses. I was even able to take a cell phone picture of the lines on the night I picked them up. I called the office within 24 hours, and they said to bring the glasses back. When I did so, after work (I think, the next day), the receptionist I gave them to for evaluation was unable to see the lines, even when inspecting with ceiling lights and in a back room. Not her fault. She offered for me to bring them back another day for someone else to check them out, but I'd already waited my turn for several other patients to receive services, and I was out of patience. So I decided to just deal with it. At this year's exam, I mentioned the lines, and the eyewear specialist said I could bring the affected pair since they were still under warranty. I also received my normal Rx upgrade (covered by insurance) for my other pair. Both came back perfect. I'm so glad they helped me with the issue, even a year later. The lines in the glasses were not hard to deal with during the year wait, but it was incredibly validating to have them recognize the problem and attend to it so quickly. read more

I was visiting from Boston and realized I only brought contacts for my left eye. I called MyEyeDr right when they opened and their receptionists were so helpful and accommodating. I sent over my prescription and she called back within an hour saying the samples were ready to be picked up. Worst optometrist visit I've ever had. While the staffers themselves were genuinely nice, the optometrist (Dr.Raess) was shockingly pedantic and aggressive. Despite her realizing by the end how badly the visit had been and trying to make amends, the damage was already done. At one point she turns to me and says "I don't want to take care of you the next visit" to which I replied the feeling was absolutely mutual! In fact, I'm never going back and will be warning everyone I know not to stay away. Additionally, I didn't like the fact that I was pushed into getting both contact and glasses exams when I only planned on paying the copay for one. I was told this was required, and is something I will be discussing with my insurance provider to confirm and give them a heads up about this business' shady practices. read more

Recently went for my annual eye exam. While there was a slight change with my prescription my provider (Dr Glover) suggested I may want to wear my glasses full time. Something I am a little resistant to do. I use to have extremely poor vision as a child until I had RK surgery in '91. Best thing i'd ever done. But alas, old(er) age is creeping in and normal aging has begun. I only wore my glasses occasionally but Dr. Glover explained the rationale as to why i need to wear them more often. So, I am heeding his advice. Dr. Glover is very knowledgeable and 'tells you like it is.' Plus, he's hip (i love his bowtie) and refreshing to have as a professional. And he explains things in a way that is easy to understand. Following my exam I met with Hassan, who was extremely patient while i tried to pick out new frames. I am horrible at making decisions, but he stuck with me. For what may have seemed like forever to him. Not once did he seem frustrated with my waffling of lenses. He also asked on of the receptionists to help me decide. I was told it'd take 10 days for my lenses to come in. Took less than a week - 6days!! Upon my return to pick up my lenses the eye care professional was also very helpful and genuine. Last year, was the first time I work progressive lens and it was a hard time for me to adjust to them. I had to have three separate visits to get the lens to where I could use them. They never balked at me and were patient with me! So that, is only one of the reasons why I will be a repeat consumer!! read more

I just visited the Southpoint location for the third year in a row this past weekend. Dr. Raess and the staff are the primary reason I will always use MyEye Dr. I love the relaxed atmosphere when I enter and, most of all, I feel the care and compassion from Dr. Raess each time I come. I can see that sometimes she may have a large volume of patients but I never feel rushed or forgotten. I consider it a validation of my perception the team there is truly outstanding! read more

Had an appointment last month at this location and had a great experience at this location. I got to my appointment a few minutes early to check in and fill out forms. They called me back only a few minutes after my appointment start time and said were sorry for the wait. A very nice lady named Natalie started my examination and asked me a few questions. She was so friendly and nice! Next, I saw Dr. Raess. She was also very friendly and nice and because she knew I was nursing did not dilate my eyes. For her to have this level of making sure my little one was safe even though it is probably harmless made me feel so comfortable and happy with my decision to go to this optometrist. I was not rushed and very happy with my level of service. Michelle who checked me out was also friendly and was quick to fix a minor problem with billing (charged for something I did not receive). Wow! Where do I begin?! I've been visiting the Duke St location for years now and I have never experienced anything other than great service. However, today the experience I had was completely different. In fact it was horrible. Staff was unprofessional and the customer service was extremely poor. The optometrist was very transactional and very disinterested in provider/patient engagement. On a jam packed day I can understand this type of service, but this was not the case today. Nevertheless, when you come and spend over $500 with insurance good customer service should be a given. In fact good customer service should be given regardless of the dollar amount spent. Especially if the patient is being respectful. Feeling rushed is an understatement! I typically do not schedule exams with this provider but was in need as my normal provider was booked until next month. Moving on to the staff the lady that helped me with my glasses seemed like she had an extremely long day I attempted to be understanding but she had a real funky Attitude!!! she did not want to be at work and it showed!!! She gave me the wrong price for my purchase and when asked to review the price she was pissed! Now granted mistakes can happen so I was patient but when she insisted the price was correct I asked for it to be reviewed by someone else and boy was she offended! When it was reviewed by the office manager the error was found and that made the individual helping me more unpleasant. Billed dropped from $800 to $500 with insurance. I said all that to say go to providers who genuinely care about you, know your plan benefits and your rights. If something doesn't add up or sit well; you as a paying customer have the right to ask questions. I encourage you to always be professional and polite although in some cases that won't matter. In my case it did not! However, avoid the lady with the extremely long dreads at this location Unless you catch her on her good day! Today was NOT it!!! Select places where every customer matter, go to places that offer professional and great customer services to all. Go places where you, the provider and staff have good rapport! STOP spending your hard earned money with people or companies who don't give two cents about you!!! read more

Recently I had a contact lense stuck under my eyelid. I was unable to get it out myself and was in a lot of discomfort for 3 hours. I arrived at the office as soon as they opened, and the doctor agreed to fit me into the schedule immediately. Less than 10 minutes after I walked in, the contact was removed. The doctor gave me samples of another type of contacts because I have had a lot of problem with my current contact tearing while I'm wearing them. read more
