I was one of those people who waited until the last minute to take advantage of their vision insurance benefits that were expiring soon... I had been meaning to go to the eye doctor's and get new glasses or contacts (if I didn't need new glasses since my insurance only pays for one or the other in a 12-month period). In the past, I've always gone to the places at Walmart or wholesale stores like BJ's/Costco. Now that I'm a fully functioning adult, I decided to do more research and choose a local practice. It was honestly hard to pick a local eye doctor, since there are many reputable ones in the area. It was ultimately between Rosenstein and one other for me, and I arbitrarily picked Rosenstein because it was literally 5 minutes down the road! They have an online booking system called PatientReach, so I didn't even have to call to make an appointment. When you make an appointment through PatientReach, you can include a comment, and I noted that I'd like to get a regular eye exam done, and potentially a contacts exam done if my vision is stable (enough) since last time, and there is no need for me to get new glasses. I made an appointment mid-November, and couldn't get a spot in until the second week of December (do not procrastinate like me if this would stress you out!). My appointment was with Dr. Gretz. Before seeing her, I got a few "tests" done really quickly by a staff member. Then my actual eye exam was performed by Dr. Grezt, who was pleasant and listened to my concerns. I did explain that I'm interested in getting contacts but only if I do not need to get new glasses. My vision was stable enough, and I did get the contacts exam done as well. She brought me to the optical department where Austin walked me through the process of getting contacts (should I choose to do so). Austin explained that I'd have to come back for a training session where I would have to put in and take out contacts three times. We also reviewed my insurance benefits, and I was told what my out-of-pocket expenses would be ($10 copy for eye exam, $60 copy for contacts exam + training, and up to $300 coverage for contacts). Optical department was more flexible in scheduling, and I was able to come back the same week for training (which was harder than I thought). I had to go back a second time to finish my "training." Then I was given a few different trial sets to use for the next week or so, before I met with Dr. Gretz again to finalize my contacts prescription and order new contacts. When I met with Dr. Gretz, I complained of the contacts drying out my eyes, and she gave me even more contacts to try. This put me back a little bit in terms of ordering, but I appreciated having 5+ contacts to try (I have astigmatism + dry eyes so this was basically me being extra). Since it was close to the end of the year, I called to finalize my order and made a payment over the phone. Once your contacts (or glasses I assume) are ready, you get an email notification, and you can pick them up any time during their normal business hours. Thank you for reading my novel. I have been a customer of Rosenstein Vision for 3 years. I bought a pair of frames in January and one of the temples broke. It was during quarantine, so I was really out of luck because I couldnt wear glasses. I called Rosenstein Vision, and Austin let me know that he would replace them. It was a huge relief to know that I wouldn't have to get a new pair and that I could be wearing glasses again. I feel like by allowing me to have a new pair (without charging me), they are very customer-centric. There was no blame on my part, and they simply said the frames shouldn't have broken so soon. During quarantine, the process for getting the new glasses was easy. I simply stayed in my car and Austin brought the new pair of frames and swapped my old lenses out of the broken frame and put in the new one. I am very grateful that they value me as a customer and allowed me to make this exchange in a safe manner. read more

I have been wearing glasses since 1970, so I've been to a LOT of opticians, optometrists, and ophthalmologists. In all that time, through countless prescriptions and frames, I have never walked in to pick up a new pair and have absolutely zero adjustments needed. I have a kind of funky prescription, with progressive lenses for varying correction, and I was stunned that the lenses were ground to perfection, fitted exactly to my face without so much as a plier twist or frame bend. The clarity I have with these new glasses is so much better than the old ones as to be stunning. In addition to measuring and crafting corrective lenses and frames, the entire office staff is great to work with. They treat you as a friend, explain what each test is for and what they find, and what other results could have meant. If you're curious, they will answer anything you throw their way! The single thing that was a negative to me was the wifi - it never actually loaded a page, but the receptionist who told me the password warned me of that before I loaded it. Seems with all the other high tech stuff they use there, this could be solved, but I only sat there a minute or two before being taken back for my appointment, so it wasn't that big a deal. There aren't many fourth generation professional practices that I know of, and the quality shows. Come by and join the second century of their clientele. You'll see a huge difference. Great 1st visit with Dr. Aaron today! Very thorough and informative exam. Dr. Aaron took the time to explain everything he was doing and he was excellent in helping our kid feel comfortable. We also visited the vision center. Small selection but good quality, name brand frames. Prices about the same as most but we did find a somewhat reasonable frame for $177. You labor over whether it is a good decision to invest so much for young teen. But we want it to be a great first pair of glasses that are age appropriate and well-tailored to the face. We will wait for a quote after insurance to see if the total frame + lens + upgrades is affordable. Our kid has BCBSNC Blue Value and this practice accepts it. Very good customer service and they answered all of our questions. Overall a very good experience. read more

I've worn glasses for 25 years and my experience at Rosenstein Vision Center was by far the best I've ever had. There was very little wait, Dr. Gretz was kind and the exam was exceptionally thorough. I have somewhat severe astigmatism in one eye and it's really important for frames to be fitted perfectly and for the ocular center to be correctly identified. I spent two years with blurry vision, trying to find a prescription that would work. It was really frustrating! Dr. Rosenstein figured out that I had astigmatism in each eye and took the time to really nail my prescription. All the while he explained what he was doing and was so kind and even funny.
