I would not recommend signing up as a member at Triangle Shooting Academy. They do not appreciate your membership and do not care about providing you with the service that one would expect as a member. There are 3 Bays with 11 or 12 lanes in each. The 3 bays are rarely, if ever all available no matter how many people are waiting to shoot. As a member, you get "priority" over walk-ins but that is pointless when there are rarely available lanes. Priority is given to paying law enforcement and secury groups who are assigned to an entire Bay. That leaves 2 bays for members and walk-ins. 90% of the time, one of the bays is not available. Management's excuse is that they cannot get enough range employees to open another bay. The reality is that the management does not want to hire additional employees since they have already taken your money when you paid for membership. The staff is very friendly and appear frustrated that there are vacant lanes in an unused CLOSED bay that cannot be used. I reluctantly renewed in January on assurances that things would be getting better once they put a new system in place. 5 mos later NOTHING has changed. Fool me once shame on you......... I will be looking elsewhere (ie. OnPoint, Youngsville Gun Club, etc) once my membership expires. Extremely disgruntled member! read more

We just had the best experience purchasing a handgun from Triangle Shooting Academy. I am impressed with the way they are enforcing social distancing, masking, and hand sanitizing. All of the staff members were so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Guy even took extra time to give us a tour and tell us about pricing, classes, and perks of membership. It took me some time to find this shop. It's not in an area of town I visit often nor on a road that boasts many ordinary retail businesses. Then, or perhaps before, you make your purchase, if you're a novice, North Raleigh Guns has several classes available, some ladies-only, for those wanting to learn the basics of guns and gun safety. The classes pack a lot of information into a short period of time, but the instructor keep it interesting. I'd almost say they're fun. Unlike courses offered in other places, NRG doesn't require you to have a gun to take the classes. They furnish one to you. No commitment. The perfect combination for anyone just not certain if he or she can accept the responsibility of gun handling or ownership. You can register and pay on-line for the classes, held at a different location, so NRG does everything they can to make it easy to determine your comfort factor. I've been impressed with how well North Carolina gun store employees as whole, at least the ones I've visited so far, have been respectful. NRG is no exception. I can say with some experience, there are other states in which a female in a gun store necessarily elicits the verbal equivalent of a pat on the head and an "awwww." NRG isn't one of those. They take you and your business seriously. They're in the process of trying to get an indoor gun range as part of their full service offering. If you elect to take advantage of an instructive session, ask for Shane. He was amazing. I'm a first-time pistol shooter. My knowledge is limited to rifles and shotguns. Before now I wasn't really interested in owning a pistol, much less firing one. He took the time to teach me about stance, grip, and breathing. He was patient and understanding of my limited knowledge. He taught me how to approach the handling of a pistol in a way that made me feel comfortable and confident. He seemed to guide me more than preach at me and it really made a difference in how I was able to absorb the information. He was easy to talk too and was open to any question I had. Yelp is how I found this place...by mistake. I was really seeking a sandwich and decided to go to the restaurant located inside this building. It wasn't until I turned down the road that I realized it was here. Since I've been wanting to take gun classes, I figured I'd check it out. This place is massive compared to other gun stores I've visited. There's a large round welcome booth as soon as you walk in the door. The representatives are very helpful and answer any question you have about the facility, requirements, items for purchase and more. There are lots of guns, and ammo, for purchase and a full range (with open windows for viewing). There were lots of people coming in with their own equipment just wanting to let off a few rounds. For the novice, they also offer lots of classes to get started. So whether you're starting or were born with a firearm in your hand, this place will give you what you need. My sister went today and let me know how it was, so I am hoping to post this review on her behalf. She went with a friend and her fiancé who both have their concealed carry permits; however this was her first time to hold a gun, shoot a gun, etc tl;dr. During her time shooting she had fun. After a bit not doing too well with aim, she decided to switch again with her friend. She unloaded the magazine clip and was getting ready to slide out the bullet in the chamber when an employee bounced up to her side and jolted her into jumping and turning toward him in shock. (Side note: apparently he was coming up to her to give her some advice on her form?) He then proceeded to shove the gun in the other direction, as when she turned toward him, logically, so did the gun she was in the process of securing. He said "I have NEVER yelled at someone before BUT if you point a gun at someone, you need to be told that is NOT OKAY!" Obviously, I am quite confused as to how he thought this was appropriate behavior towards someone, ever, but especially when said someone is patronizing the establishment he is employed at. I am also upset because this situation was undoubtedly his fault - at a shooting range, it is so loud that you need ear muffs to protect your hearing. It truly is no wonder she was surprised to see someone appear out of thin air next to her when there are guns being shot all around... She then ended up letting her companions shoot the rest of the time they were there while crying silently in a seat nearby. I will say thank you to those employees that were kind enough to ask if she was alright. Holding a gun and shooting it is already enough of a stressful time but triply so when it is your first time. So I've had my impression of this indoor range change for the better. Best indoor range hands down!! There's a café, there's a HUGE sales desk, there's a RENTAL desk and then the range. They're a HUGE Sig Sauer dealer which has a big display of rifles & pistols to covet. They do specialty days for other brands like HK & Glock. No going cold to wait for others to change their target, set your distance and hit go.... down range your target goes. The range officers are very helpful, so much so that they have us a great shooting game. They drew some circles on the back of a target, put different letters in random order in the circles and THEN, sets the target to turn away then show its self for 2 seconds for us to hit the "targetted" letter. This is a review of the CCW class I hold multiple CCW cards. I've taken the respective state classes and the class at Front Site. All that being said I must say I was very impressed with Ralf and Tommy teaching the class at TSA. My main concern was actually staying awake for 8 hours hearing the same thing over and over. The shooting part I was not worried about. Ralf presented the information concisely adding in personal tidbits which made the time fly by. They were extremely thorough with aspects of NC Law and how to conduct yourself should you have an interaction with a LEo. Honestly, this was one of the best classes I have taken. The shooting aspect was great. The range is state of the art. Best range I've personally ever shot at! It's like a spa... Here are a couple of thought. By all means take this class but remember just taking this class DOES give you the opportunity to apply for a North Carolina CCW. This class DOES NOT give you the skill or mindset to actually carry a weapon. If you choose to carry spend the money and take their Advanced classes which teach you to draw from concealment and put rounds on target. I personally have not taken the advance classes but listening to the curriculum and feedback from a couple of people who had taken them was impressive compared to the ones I have taken. Understand, that in the event you are ever forced to use your training your life will forever change in the blink of an eye. I'm not trying to be a downer this is one aspect of the class I feel needs to be added. Go take the class. Enjoy yourself and be prepared to learn. read more

Awesome experience for my wife who is a first time shooter. We decided to do date night which happens every Thursday from 5-8. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. They will allow you to rent everything from the personal protection equipment ( ear & eye) and guns that you can swap out during your session of try before you buy. The range masters were patient and very helpful and encouraged you to become familiar with the weapon in a safe manner. If you are not comfortable shooting or a first timer, Triangle Shooting Academy is the way to go. We are new to the area and live near Triangle Shooting Academy. But I would still come here even if I lived further away. Triangle Shooting Academy has it all. The have a display of new guns to purchase and a display of guns to rent while shooting just for the day. They also have a host of other items related to guns and rifles. They have a small coffee shop for people to converse if needed. There firing range is state of the art. They have 3 different rooms with 11 shootings lanes each for a total of 33, so you never have to wait to shoot. Each room has 1-4 rangers looking out for unsafe gun shooters. They are willing to help you properly hold a gun while shooting, aiming the gun. Before we visited the Academy we got online to view their policy and safety rules and signed online. 4 years ago when we visited Raleigh we watched at video when we got there and the process was way to long. Triangle Shooting Academy offers individual training for beginner shooters, classes for obtaining a CPL or CCW and defense training for the more experienced shooters. read more

Great facility with some really nice people there including the owner. Website advertises range fees starting at $20. Wrong, range fees start at $20 after you buy a $15 range card (bring your own eye and ear protection because they rent those unlike every other shooting range I've been to). Staff response to the incorrect web information was "Oh, we'll look at the website". It cost a little over $80 for my son to shoot his gun a little (excluding ammo). We will be back for some classes and possibly to purchase another weapon but I feel a little conned into those never ending fees and the range staff needs some training on basic customer experience issues. Almost walked out furious but was stopped by a nice man behind the gun case and he did the right thing every step of the way. Obviously the leadership's heart is in the right place they are just experiencing some growing pains. Try it out for yourself but be prepared to bring your wallet. read more

We actually liked Triangle Shooting Academy, but this last visit was really disappointing. We stood at the counter to buy rounds for approximately 15 minutes with not one person acknowledging our existence. Apparently all but one person went to lunch. Talk about poor management - and on an anniversary weekend. I went to sit down and my husband remained at the counter waiting along with another single male customer. Strangely, men standing with women were acknowledged, but my husband and this other customer we're ignored. We left.... We can buy my gun at a shop that has at least some semblance of customer service. A note to management, your clerk's should at least acknowledge customers with a smile, a hello, a nod of the head and a if necessary an apology for a long wait. One clerk on a Sunday with multiple customers waiting is simply unacceptable. Maybe if my bra was showing I could have purchased ammo for the gun range. read more

I have been a Law Enforcement Officer for 22 years and a State Certified Firearms Instructor for 12 of those years and have shot in many indoor ranges across North Carolina and several in Virginia, Texas, West Virginia, Missouri and Pennsylvania during that time. I am also a Marine Corps Reservist. All that to say Triangle Shooting Academy is easily the best indoor shooting facility I have ever seen. In addition, on every occasion I've been there to include bringing guests I have had a great time and have been thoroughly impressed. The moment I stepped on deck for my initial visit I found the staff to be extremely polite and welcoming. This is clearly a great range for new shooters as the staff go out of their way to ensure an environment conducive to learning. In other words, there won't be any yelling or braggadocio or arrogance. At all. Just knowledgeable friendly professionals. The annual membership fee, by the way, is an absolute bargain and money well spent. The entire staff to include Beth, Justin, Chip and Mitch to name a few are super nice and approachable. Probably the most important aspect of any shooting facility is the Range Staff. The Safety Officers are exceptional as they are extremely observant and thoughtful. Not only that. They can shoot! And they clearly are up to date on the latest techniques with regards to shooting and instruction. I hesitate to get overly detailed without permission but the staff at Triangle Shooting Academy have shooting experience on par with if not exceeding many Law Enforcement or Military Training Agencies. These are people who have deployed weapons under stress in the real world and in also competitive situations. I appreciate the range staff being so observant and helpful to myself and inexperienced shooters alike. Clearly, they are sharp enough not to take the fact that someone says they're experienced for granted. I have left ranges on several occasions due to the lack of oversight from staff members. It's impossible to focus on shooting in a lane next to a careless shooter. I would go on but it might seem too much like an advertisement or something. What I believe I have when it comes to making an assessment of the service there is perspective and I can say without reservation that Triangle Shooting Academy, as far as indoor ranges go, is "Nulli Secundus" (Second to None). read more

As brand new shooters my husband and I were apprehensive and not sure at all that this was for us. We are both seniors and felt like we need to have some protection and wanted to be safe, so we signed up for a private lesson. My husband is hard of hearing so we felt the private lesson was a better choice for us. We initially met with Deb, who went over the all the different aspects of the shooting range and the different options we had, and she assigned Richard to be our instructor. He was extremely knowledgable, patient, gave clear instructions, and did I say patient? The experience was exceptional and we can't wait to get back for a second lesson. Experienced Shooters and Women Beware: The RSOs ruin what would be a great and cost effective way to get self taught training in Raleigh. I personally have almost 20 years of firearms experience and 5 years active duty in the US Army. I would like to not have to justify every action I take at the range. I have taken my girlfriend here twice to give her beginner training on my handgun and both times she can't even fire one round without being stopped by an RSO even while I'm giving the same instructions or better. What would be acceptable some days is not acceptable other days. I use a holster to store my handgun off the table while I'm changing targets or reloading, but I do not practice shooting from the holster. Regardless I was told on my most recent trip that I cannot use the holster at all without taking one of their paid for trainings. Every other time before that I was not told I couldn't use it and I was even complimented on the choice of holster by an RSO. The constant interjection by the RSOs behind the veil of safety makes the entire experience stressful and takes the fun out of shooting. Furthermore my girlfriend left in tears from the stress of having 3 to 5 RSOs hovering behind her and was only able to shoot 5 rounds. Going forward TSA needs to find a better balance between RSOs enforcing safety rules and preserving the fun of the whole ex read more

Came here to shoot some handguns with my friends, and was blown away by how friendly and nice everyone is. The parking lot was packed, but this range is so huge, that getting 2 lanes was not a problem. It was easy to obtain a day pass after reading and signing a waiver, then we watched a short video on gun safety and purchased some ammo. They have everything you need: firearms and ear protection for rent; safety glasses, ammo, and targets to purchase. The range officers were attentive and ready to help with any little thing, which was nice for me as a novice shooter.
