I've been coming to triangle for years. The retail staff are fantastic, down to earth good people. Products are updated and plentiful. The gunsmiths are more than accommodating & Kind. However, The range staff (RSO's) are beyond irritating. Judgmental, Gossiping overgrown toddlers. The ONLY range I've ever seen where if someone who actually KNOWS what their doing shows up, the RSO's stare and Harass. Simply upset someone is actually competent at operating firearms, and possess more efficient skills than them. Some of us actually train and OWN high end gear, without being in a position of law enforcement or similar. Also, $140 to prove and earn one's ability to draw from the holster? Laughable. read more

I bought a firearm and had it transferred to TSA, which arrived right before Christmas. Even though I don't have a monthly membership, they processed it within 24 hours, which was outstanding. I was able to get a lane yesterday for the first time, and had only a short wait. Even though they were super busy, everyone was nice, professional, and it was the best range experience I've had as an experienced shooter. Every interaction has been excellent, whether by email, phone, or in person. I will be getting a monthly membership. read more

Been to TSA a few times and generally disappointed with overall experience. The excessive time to get anyone to even acknowledge your waiting at the counter combined with high prices on firearms and ammo was unacceptable. They are a very large retailer so they do have good selection, just not worth the premium in cost, especially given the poor service. If you choose to go be ready for extended waiting times, excessive and unnecessary fees. You may also have to deal with rudeness or denial of service. read more

This place is racist . I've been to this place several times trying to purchase a firearm. They wouldn't allow me to purchase because i didn't have a purchase permit nor a conceal carry permit. I came back another time to use the range and they wouldn't allow me to. I finally got my conceal carry permit so I went to purchase a firearm. They took my credentials in the back, and came back out in about 10 mins with the manager and said I'm selling u a fire are because u made a comment that I said " This gun cost too much to kill somebody" which i never said. Then all security came out surrounding me and was talking to me like I was a child. I am a law enforcement officer , and felt very disrespected because I was lied on And felt very uncomfortable being surrounded by all these white people with firearms and I'm the only African American in the store. I left out but was very pissed off for being lied in and being mistreated. Don't reccomend going there if u are a colored person!! read more

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with Triangle Shooting Academy. My experience was so appalling that I feel obligated to warn others. After calling ahead to confirm that the range was still open, my party and I drove to the location, only to be denied entry upon arrival. This was incredibly frustrating and a complete waste of our time. Beyond the inconvenience of being turned away after receiving confirmation they were open, I believe the reason for our denial was racially motivated. I felt singled out and discriminated against, leading me to believe that the customer service is not only unprofessional but also deeply prejudiced. Great facility, decent prices, indifferent customer service. The TSA is the premier shooting range in the triangle. The building is spacious with lots of selection of every kind of firearm, ammo, and accessory. They offer some unique services like full-auto rental, and birthday specials. There are lots of lanes, and I've never had to wait for a lane. I'm retired, so I signed up for a Monday-Thursday senior membership that is very inexpensive for what you get. The customer service experience was not what I expected for a high-end facility. I left several messages over 2-1/2 weeks for the membership staff, none of which was answered. So I had to go all Karen and ask for the manager, who righted the situation. read more

Wish I could give them a negative 1! Terrible customer service. Their training/refund policies are ambiguous and vague! I canceled 7 and a half weeks prior to my class, and they kept 10% of my money. So I am going to give this place a 4 instead of a 3 could of been a 5 we will get to that shortly. The reason why I am still scoring high is because of how hospitable the staff was and amazing our RSO was "Smitty". I was in for my bachelor's party. The guys know I am a shooting enthusiast and even though I am a fire arms instructor that I cant get enough down range. They took me to get the fully automatic experience. we ended up going with an AR and an old school thompson. We shot a lot and a lot and more. Smitty was a phenomenal Range Safety Officer and Instructor. He gave us an excellent experience. I forgot the additional RSO who was with us, a tall skinny white gentleman looked like he was in his 20's he rocked too. My Issue and why I will not be able to give 5 stars. We had finished up shooting the fully automatic firearms and were wanting to switch over to pistol to continue shooting. We were switching firearms and then as we were about to go back on to the lanes the manager behind the counter basically told us we would have to go to the back of line to get back on the range. (Probably should look into this rule for your range) Now I understand this may be company policy but the manager talked to the employee like were weren't there like he was talking to us through him like a puppet. (Don't do that). The reason being because of some rule that the Fully Autos have to be on a different system we would have to pay an additional fee on top of other fees and repay to use the range. Then we would have to wait. We were got there early and were dropping a lot of ammo from that range and yet you couldn't make an exception for the people who showed up to do a lot of shooting. You legitimately let another $500.00+ ammo at least walk out the door. So sure you stuck to the "hard rules" of the range. However, you let money walk and left a bitter taste in my mouth. The RSO's customer service is literally what is saving this review because, the lane rates were high, the ammo, was high, and everything in general was high. I understand you are there to make money and that the firearms industry isn't known for being "cheap" but everything was at a premium price so... I probably wouldn't be in conversation with someone sending them to your establishment because of "its an affordable option". Recommendation, fix your rule on people renting fully and pistol at the same time. Maybe design another package where you have the executive experience so you can literally pay for the lane indefinitely and continue to rent and try other fire arms. Literally probably let another $1000.00 walk out over the range policy of firearm types transfer and then recharging the customers additional fees on top of other fees. Would of have been a 5 star had we had been treated a little better at the rental/range counter. Overall great experience. 99% of staff are rock stars. "Smitty" Thank you for your service and time. I really like the range once I have a lane, but the check-in process needs some improvements. I'm a member, so there is a separate line which is good, but the check in staffing is often limited to a single person during the day when I go. It's frustrating to stand and watch the lone staff member going through the time consuming tasks of explaining range rules, ear protection/gun rental, etc when there are other staff members sitting around with seemingly nothing to do, at the front desk. If someone does eventually step in to help, it's only when both lines become long. IMHO they either need a dedicated person to check-in new shooters and one to handle members or 'floaters' who can step in proactively to assist when needed. As it stands, there isn't a reliable benefit to purchasing a membership in regard to the check in process if in addition to a dedicated line there isn't a dedicated staff member. In regard to the range marshals...they have a challenging job keeping us all safe given the wide range of shooting experience of their customers. I welcome their coaching! read more

I highly recommend this indoor range for beginner and experienced shooters. Triangle Shooting Academy offers and maintains a safe and supportive environment for learning and practicing safe firearm handling. Before you go, definitely check out their website. It is detailed and it clearly lists their prices. I've been to Triangle Shooting Academy multiple times before and during COVID-19 to visit the range and their retail side. Currently they are open and are not taking lane reservations. There is a tent set up outside to greet customers, check your range pass, and provide you a retail and/or range sticker. If you are a new customer, fill out the waiver and watch their safety video beforehand to save time. Once inside, there is a line for the retail side and a separate line for the range desk. On a Saturday, we have waited almost 2 hours for a lane. On a Friday, there was no wait. If there is a wait for the range, I would recommend joining the waitlist and then checking out the retail area. The retail area is large and organized, prices are reasonable, and employees are available to answer questions. If one employee is not able to answer your question, then they find someone who can. Shout out to Alex who was incredibly helpful during our latest visit. He was patient, knowledgeable, and efficient. There are 4 bays, 33 lanes total, each 25 yards long. At the range desk, you provide them with your range card and license and pay for the range fee and if applicable targets, ammo, rental gun, and ear and eye protection. When your lane is ready protect your ears and eyes and proceed to your assigned lane. Once at the range, it's straightforward, however, there are several associates available if you need assistance. They also will provide support and tips as needed. Regarding COVID-19, they do limit the number of people in the bays and everyone is wearing a mask. They also have lines for crowd control. They do have a membership program and classes, however, I have not experienced either. read more

I've never held a gun in my hands let alone shoot one. For years, my brother who is a retired policeman has urged me to learn how to safely handle a gun. My husband and sons have their conceal and carry license, so with much trepidation, I signed up for a class. The Triangle Shooting Academy was the perfect place for someone like me to take a Basic Handgun class. When I arrived, I was greeted by friendly staff who helped direct me to the right place to sign in. There are many guns available to rent. I chose to bring my own gun because I wanted to learn how to handle the one we own. The teachers were outstanding. Steve, Jerry, and Eddy were thorough, patient and very knowledgeable. There were a few of us in the class with zero knowledge or experience of guns. The classroom teaching prepared us for each step of responsibility. I was very nervous entering into the shooting range but quickly got into the groove of load, aim, fire! I learned a LOT in just one day. I left feeling confident and competent. read more

My son and I made our first visit today. We had an especially great experience. But I have to tell you, what a day we picked to go! This amazing facility has recently installed a new POS and member management system. This requires virtually everyone must watch the safety videos new release. Add to that, the place was packed and there were a couple of large groups. The staff was, in a word, amazing. They were patient with newbies like me (I'm an experienced shooter just a newbie to them) and patient with current members who I guess had to resign their waiver agreement. Some customers just don't get it's not the fault of the guy or gal behind the counter. The Academy is simply trying to have top management systems. The range is easy to navigate with range masters always observant. I watched one of the range staff patiently working with a new shooter. Both were having fun! Talk about a selection of everything a sport shooter could want, it's there. The Academy is well stocked with, like I say, virtually everything. You bet I'll be back! read more

I attended 2 sessions at $100 each with a weapons expert, Richard. He was a retired military weapons expert and was nice and appeared very knowledgeable. My complaint is serious. I have emailed the "point of contact" for public relations, Annie Adams multiple times about this serious issue, and she refuses to respond to my emails. On my first lesson, I had never even HELD a gun, and knew absolutely nothing. I was totally dependent on personnel to instruct me in EVERY area. After choosing the appropriate gun for me, Richard and I headed to the firing range. Before I entered, he handed me headphones. I have a tiny head and weigh 100 pounds. I "assumed" that I was "eyeballed" for the correct size, again, because I knew NOTHING concerning headphones for gun noise protection. We opened the door to the indoor firing range, I walked 10 feet, and the sound of what I learned later was an AR15, pierced my eardrums with such magnitude and velocity that I fled out the door screaming in pain. The employee behind the counter saw my horror and said "here, wear these earplugs AND my gel headphones." The difference was not comparable! I was able to renter the range and complete my lesson. My ears were ringing for the next week as I returned for my next lesson. I mentioned this, and I opted to not re-enter the firing range. Although I had planned to return to Triangle Shooting Academy many times to practice, the ringing in my ears didn't abate, and I attempted to contact Annie Adams to apprise her of the situation and inquire if other customers had experienced this deafening tinnitus, and how long it took to recover. I have had to make an appointment with an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist to assess the auditory damage. I am a classical pianist, and had an exceptional range of auditory abilities. My auditory range could detect dog whistles, but not the lowest spectrum of the normal human auditory scale. I have forwarded my message to Ms. Adams 4 TIMES, as well as called TSA. No one answers the phone, and I'm also informed their mailbox is full. As I write this, the ringing is severe, lasting now since June 30, especially in my left ear, which was the side closest to the AR15. I'm uncomfortable with this constant, deafening tinnitus. Let us hope that the news from auditory testing next week at the ENT is reassuring and I'm told that this tinnitus and loss of hearing is temporary. read more

I have given this place several chances by doing or attempting to do business with them and they have failed enough times by now. First, when asking if they can find a particular model sidearm. I visited the store to meet their gun broker (30 min drive for me) on a few occasions, he always seemed to be out of the office. Eventually I was able to get in touch by email and emailed back and forth with them for weeks and the result was essentially, "Why don't you just look it up on guns.com?" The second time was taking a concealed carry course where I asked the instructor for clarity on what was public property and how that impacted one's ability to concealed carry. The response was, I can't answer that question, it just depends on the circumstances, and 20 minutes later, he covers literally the exact scenario I described. I said, "why didn't you just say you would cover it later? This slide covers it very clearly." He shrugged. The third and final time was after getting my build set up over about 6 months of waiting for various items to come into stock, trouble shooting, and dialing things in. Then one Sunday, I was finally able to take it to the range and test my new setup against my past groupings with the old setup, I see they are open until 6. My wife and I knock out everything we need to in the morning and afternoon being on the road for about 3 hours that day. I head off for the 30 minute drive to the range where I park, collect my things, and start heading to the door where there is a man with his arms crossed who has been watching me unload my car. After I get most of the way there, I'm standing a few yards away, he says, "You shooting today?" I respond saying, "Haha, hopin' to!" and he comes back with, "Well we took our last shooters at 5." I say "alright," drag all of my stuff back to my car and load it back in. I decided to take a look at my watch and see how far past 5 I was. I was very disappointed that it said 17:03, especially since he stood there and watched me get my things around and walk up to him which I would guess happened at 17:01. In short, if you are looking for a friendly staff, this is your place. If you are looking for a helpful or even a competent staff, I suggest you look elsewhere. If this is the best the Triangle has to offer, I've had SIGNIFICANTLY better experiences in Wilmington, Richmond, and the Charlotte area. That's where I will be going from now on. Triangle Shooting Academy is full of price tags, vacant smiles, and that's about all... Also note the responses to positive reviews, they all go, "[name] thank you for taking the time to write in about your recent experience with us. What a great place for date night !! They have shooting specials most every night. Everyone is helpful and friendly. The range is clean and very well run by the range safety officers. The restaurant onsite has some yummy choices. It's not gourmet but quite good for food at a shooting range. Since the range in Holly Springs has been closed down (temporarily ?). TSA is the next best bet for indoor shooting. It's a bit more pricey but it's also a nicer range. Give them a try. The yearly membership is a must if you are an avid shooter. read more

I've been to a different shooting range once before and it was a scary experience but TSA completely eased my fears. I've been here 5 times now and I enjoy it very much. The place is clean, the employees are always friendly, and everyone monitoring the shooters is happy to help with everything from adjusting your grip on the gun to coaching you on how to fire. I was basically brand new to shooting and they helped me select a gun that I felt comfortable with and guided me on how to use it safely. In the beginning I was very jumpy but now, even when people are shooting huge guns in the same bay, I feel safe because I know the employees watch carefully to ensure that everyone follows the rules. TSA has classes including basic instruction, youth basic instruction, concealed carry, home defense, non lethal defense, and even private lessons. A friend did his concealed carry training here and he said the staff is just as informative and helpful in class as they are on the range. I would definitely recommend TSA to anyone who wants a safe, clean, helpful environment to shoot. Went to this place yesterday with my husband and friend. My husband and I were new shooters and were naturally nervous about the new experience. The staff were great, informative and patient. The process is simple, fill out the waiver (online or in store), watch a 7 minute safety video, pick your gun and you're set to go. You can take classes and get licensed here as well. You'll need safety glasses (or prescription works) and ear plugs or muffs which they provide at a small cost. Now I won't lie, my first shot I shed a tear. Not sure why lol. Something about being a young, black woman maybe. Or maybe just the impact you feel from the recoil. It definitely puts you in perspective. Probably won't carry my own gun but it's good experience to know how to use one. read more

Take the negative reviews with a BIG FAT grain of salt. Unfortunately, some gun enthusiasts think that because they own a gun or have money in their pocket that the entire universe revolves around them and get pissy when they don't perceive the entire staff stops what they are doing to cater to their selfish desires. This is the finest firearms facility I've ever seen. I've been to SHOTSHOW and I know a thing or two about the industry selling firearm and tactical military companies for a living. Right now inventory and ammunition is low thanks to the rhetoric our newly elected President is spewing. Retailers have no control over this so don't blame them. If you don't like TSA vote with your dollars and go complain about the next store you visit.
