Went for the first time and had a great time love the way they teach. Great environment for a beginner and the people are very welcoming.

Great class. Stewart really presents it well. Videos and power points augment the book well. The shooting was of course fun!

I knew of the kettlebell "getup" from workouts at the Y and had heard kettlebells were a distinct workout. I signed up for a workshop with Rapid Results Durham NC. Betsy Collie is amazing. I have been working with her for over a year. Her knowledge and enthusiasm communicated through out her workouts is the best I have experienced. Her company, Rapid Results is aptly named. Kettlebell workouts and stretching she incorporates has quickly increased my strength, balance and flexibility. She is fun loving, compassionate, and always teaching, teaching, teaching. She explains everything, she knows tons about not just technique but how and where it affects and strengthens. I like that I can work out at her place or via Zoom, she pays attention and helps all. I feel like a "there" participant. She customizes workouts weekly so we may be doing classic moves but are always learning something new which keeps the class interesting. You can work at your own speed and weight, no pressure except she will push you if she thinks you are lame ducking it, I believe is positive. She does the workouts with us so we can always see her technique. She walks it like she talks it. I highly recommend her and kettlebells!

At 70 years old, I'm stronger and as mobile as ever. Betsy has an extensive knowledge in strength training, and if I find any movement difficult or painful, she has an uncanny ability to pinpoint the problem and address it before it causes an injury. Highly recommended.

Ashanti is obviously a subject matter expert in the fitness/training arena. I've had one on one sessions with him, attended his full body boot camps (you will feel the BURN), spin classes, and currently working on the personalized workout plan. Ashanti is a very patient, funny, and genuinely concerned about his clients' overall health. Although I'm still working on my lifestyle change, i've learned new workout techniques, my weight has been steady instead of dropping, i've gained confidence, and overall better management of my body/health. I'm looking forward to more gains and classes in 2019!

He is a great support. He knows you can do more than you think you can. I have made so many strides, so many accomplishments since I started. I have lost weight, my squats are much deeper, I am much stronger, agile and faster. A couple months into training, we started doing sprints on the treadmill and also different types of movements (side to side, backwards, high knees and then doing all these things on an incline). When it got warmer, we moved training to the outdoors. I like the change of scenery every once in a while. If you are interested in getting some personal training (even group training) then I highly recommend AR. Like I said, he is a great trainer, he is also very funny so that it is an overall enjoyable training experience.

Some how I got scheduled for a couple of pool sessions by accident. However I wasn't able to cancel it online. I had to call which was a headache. I had to jump through so many hoops!

"Fitness center just off Duke's west campus"…read more My regular gym has been closed for renovations, so I came here for a few weeks. A one-month guest membership was $70 for Duke employees, but it took quite a good 30 minutes just to sign up (needed to verify things, take my picture for ID, etc.). It's not a "high-end" fitness center with lattes, but it's certainly acceptable. They had some group exercise classes, but I didn't really look into those. Median age of people I saw there (~6:30-7:30am) was ~60 years old or so. It did seem like one emphasis here was for rehabilitation, too: one of the first things I saw after entering was a big set of rolling walkers. The layout is a bit odd-- large track circling various pieces of equipment, with free weights in one corner and bikes (for spinning classes) in another. I was never clear what the very center was for-- perhaps some sort of sport that wasn't being played in the early morning hours I went. Much of the equipment seems old. There was a lap pool in a room off to the side, but I never tried it. Positives: + Friendly staff + You get a locker key each time you check in (while they hold your car key) + Towel service + Sauna Potential negatives: - No TVs or other good distractions - Awkwardly large layout - Uncurtained group men's shower Synopsis: I was fine with this facility for a few weeks, but I definitely felt out of place as likely the youngest or second-youngest person exercising there in the early hours (and I'm in my 40s).

Other than training facilities, there are nice paintings and personalized music playlist. I started my training with Corey in the middle of the pandemic (Dec, 2020). Maitland's Method might not be on your radar for personal fitness because it's not one of those big conglomerate gyms, but you should definitely consider it. Just to give you a summary: - This gym is primarily for personal training but you get access to some of the equipment as a regular client - They offer individual and partner training sessions (partner sessions are half the price which makes it very affordable) - Emphasis on strength and resistance training - Lots of very solid equipment and free weights Maitland and his team have a long history of strength training -- check out the wall of bodybuilding trophies and photos when you walk through the entrance. Among their trainers are bodybuilding champions and an ex-NFL linesman. You don't need to be an aspiring bodybuilder to appreciate the workout routine. There's a diverse mix of clients -- men, women, young, and old. Each trainer follows Maitland's method (hence the name) which has been refined over many years. Still learning about the method but so far so good! The trainers help you throughout the routine, keep a log of your exercises, and help you build fitness plans (for inside and outside the gym). For someone like me that forgets to count reps, this place is a godsend. My workout has become much more focused and efficient. I use to be able to waste hours at the gym when I was younger but now I recognize the importance of getting the most out of the time as possible. The extra cost for personal training has been well worth it! Trey has been especially friendly and effective. At nearly 7' tall and built like a football player (no surprise he use to play for the Colts) he might seem a little intimidating but he's actually probably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. The exercises have been safe and I've been able to blend my new routine with soccer and running. He's helping prepare me for a marathon and build muscle at the same time (which will hopefully help prevent injury).
