We found every tree trimming service in a hundred mile radius and collected each company's quote along with a "low ball" quote from friend, and out of all of them, Carlos from Tri Valley Tree gave us the best quote. The communication felt a little unofficial to begin but I trusted it to get done and sure enough it did, and the men who took out our tree were wonderful and hardworking. It took them 5 days to take it all down and cut up the roots (due to a law in Ojai that requires electric chain saws and requires time to charge them half way through a work shift). Since we were not on a time crunch it worked fine for us. The guys did good work, but we had to ask them to cut the roots otherwise they were going to leave them. They did it all for $2100, which was a fantastic price! The estimate didn't change even though the tree took a while to take out and we added in the root grinding and a bit of the neighbors tree that was taken out by our fallen one. I would go back to Carlos for any and all handyman needs in the future. He runs a great business for great prices. read more

Responded quickly to call about large tree fall. Best price quote. Guys were fast, efficient (when they were here). Took several days longer than planned. After 3rd day, guys would disappear without saying anything after a few hours, leaving one guy alone with a saw. Carlos got testy with me when I asked where they were. Agreed to trim another branch, then took off without doing it, even after I asked. It felt like he underestimated the price and job (not my fault), and was getting snarky by day 5. Carlos came to give me a quote for a tall palm tree removal and said he would send it via email. When we didn't hear from him, we called and he said he would do it after the weekend. The following week and still no quote. My husband called and left three messages and texted as well. Carlos never called nor responded to the texts. We saw him working in the neighborhood and when asked about it, he claimed it was sent but never volunteered to resend the quote or even check if the email address was correct. When asked why he didn't respond to the calls or texts, he said he didn't have time. Carlos is very unreliable and did not have the decency to return the calls. NO QUOTE, NO JOB, NO GOOD! read more

I called Carlos as I was concerned about an old maple tree in my front yard. I was installing a new landscape and wanted to remove this maple if it had any issues. He came by the same day and evaluated the tree. He told me it was healthy and there was no reason to eliminate it. I asked him if it needed any care and he said to call him next year for pruning. Note: He was my 2nd opinion. I called another local tree trimmer in the Ojai Valley first and they told me the tree was dying and needed to come down immediately for a fee of $1800.
