I hired Hunter 01/25 to trim several trees on my property of which we agreed on a $2400 price. He…read moretold me it would be a two day job (2 - 8 hour days). He showed up at 9 am (day 1) and completed 7 hours of work. When he finished only 2/3 of the work he told my wife he was finished and requested to be paid. The wife paid him thinking he fulfilled his duties of which we agreed on and she also gave him a $200 tip. The next day I inspected the work completed and realized two trees were barely touched. I re-contacted Hunter and told him he had not completed the job as we agreed. Hunter told me he lost money on my job. I asked how did you lose money when you only worked one day of the two discussed and at this point he earned $385 an hour (7 hours worked). I again asked him to honor his agreement to me and finish the job he was paid for with a tip. He refused and asked me to pay him more money to complete the last two trees. Hunter taught me a hard lesson, never pay in full when you dont first inspect the work. I never thought hed take advantage of my wifes trust when I wasnt present.

We found every tree trimming service in a hundred mile radius and collected each company's quote…read morealong with a "low ball" quote from friend, and out of all of them, Carlos from Tri Valley Tree gave us the best quote. The communication felt a little unofficial to begin but I trusted it to get done and sure enough it did, and the men who took out our tree were wonderful and hardworking. It took them 5 days to take it all down and cut up the roots (due to a law in Ojai that requires electric chain saws and requires time to charge them half way through a work shift). Since we were not on a time crunch it worked fine for us. The guys did good work, but we had to ask them to cut the roots otherwise they were going to leave them. They did it all for $2100, which was a fantastic price! The estimate didn't change even though the tree took a while to take out and we added in the root grinding and a bit of the neighbors tree that was taken out by our fallen one. I would go back to Carlos for any and all handyman needs in the future. He runs a great business for great prices.

We interviewed five different companies and Jorge was the only person who blew us away. He was not only super fair in his pricing, but he was incredibly knowledgeable about trees and showed a genuine interest in the health and life of our trees as well as making our property look great. This was especially important to us as we have a 40 year old avocado tree that we love, and we needed someone we could trust to thin it out in a way that would not damage the tree or its production of avocados. Dan Crane grudgingly agreed to price, amount, and delivery time on the call. Showed up 2.5 hours late, no call from him or response to my call asking if he was still coming to deliver. He delivered what turned out to be 2/3 of a cord of mixed wood (a cord is 4'x4'x8', stacked tight). No respect for the customer's time, and dishonest measure of his product. He better keep his dayjob, because his service and product do not merit recommendation or repeat business.
