I called a number of companies to seek an appointment for an evaluation of my situation and an estimate on how much it would cost to fix it. Harris promptly got back to me (only one other company returned my call) and we made an appointment. The estimator soon came out and evaluated my basement troubles. Developing an estimate took a few days - longer than expected - because he wanted to share the unique aspects of the problem with the company's owner, Tim, so they could best figure out the ideal solutions. I was happy to wait a few days for them to have more time to really think about the problem and what would be best: better than some "one size fits all" fix that wouldn't fix my basement problems. They determined what they thought would solve the problems, and that that it would be simpler (and more cost effective) than they originally thought. I hired them (I eventually had one estimate from another company - they came out after a few months; their estimate was much higher, $-wise, and they wouldn't be able to start work for a few months anyway). While there was a bit of a wait, given their other jobs, I got the work done quickly. Their employees were professional, and friendly, and really cared about doing great work. In the course of the job, they realized that the original plan wouldn't work out in one way, and again decided on a cheaper, more "conservative" respond to the problem which saved me money. All and all, I think Tim Harris and his crew really were just interested in solving my problems in a manner that would be effective and reliable, and at a fair price. Oh, my basement used to be a horribly disgusting place - dirty and dank! After what they did, it's now nice!! We can store things down there and the kids even have a play space. So my house has gained a lot of workable space because of what they did. And it smells better too! My only regret here is that I didn't know of them 10 years ago! If I had known about them then, I would have had a lot less frustration and expense along the way!

We paid $10,000 for our crawlspace to be encapsulated in 2023. I would think the key aspect of…read morekeeping the crawlspace dry is the dehumidifier. The one this company installed in 2023 quit working in 2024 after the one year warranty expired and I had to pay $1,000 to have another one installed. March 2025 the dehumidifier quit again. I called and they sent a technician out here and he said the company no longer uses those dehumidifiers. He inferred that they are of substandard quality and if I purchased another it would be quite expensive. He checked the dehumidifier and said my electrical outlet had switched it off. So, I paid an electrician to replace the outlet with one that doesn't automatically switch off. The dehumidifier continued to quit working. So, I asked an HVAC company to come and check it out. He said the dehumidifier is fills with water and cuts off because it isn't draining properly. He emptied it out and said it hadn't been correctly installed. He said it needed a condensation pump and the tubing needed to be replaced. I tried to reach someone at Crawlspaces and More and for weeks never received a return call. I finally received an email from Jim and he said he would come out and make sure the dehumidifier was on and charge me $200. I told them to forget it. I called a reputable company and they installed a very nice dehumidifier and replaced the door to my crawlspace. Ours was wood and rotted because it was decades old. They said Crawlspaces and More should have replaced it to thoroughly encapsulate the crawlspace. The new company installed a custom fit door that is air tight and sealed. I would not recommend Crawlspaces and More.

Hired Lance Johnson to repair the front stoop at our house. He arrived very late saying he had to…read morefinish another job. Upon arriving they started work but then left stating they had to run to Home Depot for supplies. After several hours and in the dark of night they returned. Turns out they went back to the other job! Their "work" was of extremely poor quality and will probably have to be completely redone. I had requested that the concrete pad be square and flat. They poured it as a blob with an irregular shape and top that's not flat. They also removed the facing stone on the stoop and later just stuck it back on with no mortar between stones and with several gaping holes. I do not recommend using Lance Johnson, SFI Concrete or Quality Concrete for any work on your home.

I had them out several years ago to give me a quote on raising a walkway that had dropped a few inches after some work was done underneath to repipe. They told me that their minimum to come out was $2,500 and that I should look to find some work to justify their effort since the repair I wanted was less than 1/5 of the total $2500 cost. I had nothing else to repair and sent them on their way. A few weeks ago I responded to a facebook ad about a similar type of repair, not realizing that it was Aquaguard. After partially filling out the questionnaire about my needs, the name Aquaguard popped up so I declined to go further. The next day someone from GroundWorks called me and explained that the person who told me about the $2,500 minimum was lying and that they could do the job for much cheaper. He explained that the person just wanted to estimate a larger job, that Groundworks had recently purchased Aquaguard, that they were changing their business practices, and that the person who had given me the previous quote was no longer with the company. (He implied that he was fired). He said that yes they do perform much smaller jobs and wanted to send someone out. Eventually, I said yes. I knew something was wrong when the guy they sent out called me the night before and asked 'Were the decision makers both going to participate?' and 'If I had at least 90 minutes for their inspection and discussion'. I told them yes but I was not about to spend 90 minutes of my time with them. When the estimator arrived he wanted to sell me on their company. I told him I had heard it before and just wanted an estimate. I shared with him the story of my previous appointment. After looking at the problem area he came back and told me that what the first estimator had told me several years ago about a $2500 minimum was correct and that they could not perform the job cost effectively. They wanted $2,500!! For that price I could rip it out and pour new concrete! No thank you! To add to this I had them come our a few years ago to quote a lintel repair at my garage door. They quoted me $11,000. That was almost 40% MORE than I was quoted by the company that invented, manufactured, and offered installation on the repair bracing Aquaguard was proposing. So, I purchased the lintel and installation direct - and it was also a heavier duty one than the one Aquaguard quoted, for over $4,000 less! I do not like their business practices. I guess they incentivize their salespeople based on the number of appointments they set up. But they just wasted both of our time. AND THE LYING! Do not use this company!
