I have a home built in 1971, rehabbed in 2016 just prior to my purchasing it. With the rehab that was done, a buildout of the basement plus waterproofing was supposed to be done. Unfortunantly, there was no warrantly. After I purchased the home, I continued to have water evade the living area of the downstairs. With all of the rain we were having already this year, we discovered a mini waterfall behind our HVAC and water heaters in our basement back in February! It was quite obvious that this was an issue the previous owners were aware of but did not fix (a dehumidifier left in front of the leak does not count as a fix in my mind). Unfortunately, we weren't the only ones with leaky basement issues so the majority of places were not able to come out until mid-March to inspect and give an estimate. Fortunately, I found Steve with AKME Waterproofing. He responded to my message immediately, scheduled a visit and was able to come out and give me an estimate in no time. Not to mention that he has lots of experience (just ask him) and was able to show me lots of other cases he's worked/working on fixing. I did have one other company come out and give an estimate and they told me I would need a sump pump and to move the HVAC and water heaters so they could bring in a jackhammer....this was quoted at $6,000+, not including the cost and time I would have to sink into finding someone to move the HVAC and water heaters! Steve thankfully saved my life with a simpler solution of polyurethane injection, which cost me a 1/3 of the other quote. I think you can figure out who I chose. Steve even took the time to explain that it may take 4-6 weeks before he could even schedule the actual repair (dependent on other jobs and the weather of course), but by that point that would still put us ahead of the other estimates so I was quite happy with waiting. Finally, Steve called me up mid-March and was able to send out his best employee, Bear, to take care of the job and they were able to knock it out in one day! Everyone was very polite and professional and efficient in their work. Best even came back the next day to rehang part of the duct work the had to move to complete the job (something I could have easily taken care of on my own!). I highly recommend AKME Waterproofing not only because they are cost effective, but because they also know what they are doing and have the experience and talent to back it up. If you give them a chance and even just have a conversation with Steve, I don't think you'd be satisfied with using any other company! read more

I contacted Steve after getting several quotes on how to fix a small leak in my basement. After hearing several different quotes, I realized all of them had one thing in common...all of the other companies were trying to fix my leak using their "one size fits all" approach without even tracing where the water was coming from! Steve advised me to find the source of the water before making any assumptions and ridiculous repairs. I ended up removing the drywall from one closet in my finished basement and then taking several pictures and texting them to him. After days of communication via phone and text, Steve was able to help me find a correct diagnosis for the problem to my leak. The repairs called for a new grading solution to my front yard, which is not in Steve's wheelhouse. Nevertheless, he continued to help guide me to the right people and helped me pose the right questions, without so much as asking for a consultation fee.
