Please research other companies before accepting a bid from Trotter. They did work on my basement in 2017, with a 7-year warranty. As the warranty ended, I started having flooding issues. My home sits near the bottom of a slope, so flooding is a concern which I thought had been allayed by hiring Trotter to waterproof the basement. When one of their team came to review, they said that the crawspace had not been completely water proofed but that they could complete the job for me as an additional project. Two other companies came to survey and gave me a different verdict: Trotter had not completely redirect water away from my home's foundation. I noticed the hard wood flooring becoming warped, and areas of the house above the crawl space settling at different levels. The crawl space is moldy and has standing water because the exterior discharge line that is closest to the crawlsapce does not funnel water away from the house. One of the floor joists is floating due to poor drainage and soil movement in the crawlspace. I wanted a permanent solution to my flooding issues so that I could finish my basement. Not only did they do a partial job, to last exactly 7 years, but I will have to rip out the walls and bathroom in the basement to redo the water proofing correctly. This will cost me $$$$$ in addition to properly water-proofing my home. I would get a second or third opinion before going with a Trotter bid. read more

In a word, honest. We had some flooding on one wall of our house. The previous owners had used Trotter for water control in the basement about 20 years ago - and it was obviously well done, no problems even today. So Trotter was the first company we called. Brain was the representative whom came to our house, and unbelievably, was the one who had installed our basement solution with the previous owner. He did about a 45 minute inspection and did something I have never had a sales person do, he told us that our problem could be handled for a lot less money by someone else. Brain recommended a good landscaper who knew the basics of grading land. He gave us a recommendation of someone they work with that they could vouch for, that they worked with often on other projects As Brian explained, Trotter specialize in solving difficult water issues, and thus has a min price for their services. In inspecting our issue, he told us it was a simple issue of grading. He literally told us that if we went with Trotter we would be overpaying for what was an basic fix a competent landscaper could do. So again, Trotter is not just good, they are honest; and of course, if we every have, or an fried or associate has, a water issue we would recommend Brian at Trotter. read more

My primary recommendation: When you are told that you have issues with your foundation or structure, ALWAYS get a 3rd party, structural engineer to provide an unbiased assessment. We had Trotter come out because we had noticed potential structural issues and foundation cracks in our new home. The sales person from Trotter convinced us that we had significant concerns that threatened the structural integrity of our home. Between two estimates, we were told to expect between $35,000 and $45,000 worth of repairs. We were devastated. However... we ended up getting an unaffiliated structural engineer to give an independent assessment. He found that there were NO significant concerns at our house - maybe only $5,000 of needed repairs. He was very clear that he saw no signs at all that we would have ever needed the scale of repairs suggested by Trotter. So I'm not sure what to think about Trotter at this point. I don't want to believe that we were intentionally misled for the sake of making a sale. But to make someone feel like the structure of their home is in danger with a huge expected price tag without *actually* verifying that assessment feels pretty awful. Trotter nearly ruined the first 2 months in our new home with stress, and they could have ruined many years for us if we had agreed to the work. read more

This may be a bit of a different review in that I have never hired Trotter Company. But for the second time, I called them due to water in my basement and BOTH times, they explained why the water was there and how I could easily correct the situation myself. Both times the Trotter representative was kind, patient and of course, knowledgeable. What a great company! read more

My home had an erosion problem in the back left corner of my house where the dirt had washed away from under the slab of the home. I called Trotter who sent out Alex who told me there was really nothing to do for it at this stage. Suggested I rebuild the landscaping making sure to pack the dirt on the corner. He left and I thanked him for being honest with me. I called Cobb County Code Enforcement who sent someone to look at it agreed a solution would be to build up the landscape. read more

UPDATE: So it would appear that the phone scheduler gave me some inaccurate information. Trotter called me 2 days after my review and made every attempt to remedy my issue (including sending out their estimator the following week). Greg arrived promptly and gave me some very important information that other companies did not regarding my water incursion. Specifically, the main issue is the grade of the landscaping outside. The exterior modifications (something most basement contractors won't do) was a fair price and will better resolve my issue. I have decided to use Trotter for the basement remediation and I will update this review after the work is completed. read more

Aside from their free estimates, I also admire the honesty they display when they tell a customer that repairs aren't necessary. Trotter's so-called highly rated competitors? These ppl are shysters and swindlers. They do not put customers first. They appear professional and carry themselves professionally but they are liars and slick. I was charged $4400 for a load bearer wall approximately 3 x2 feet. Along with a sump pump; after install they had to come back 5 times trying to solve the issue (water continued to come in my basement during a rain -- same spot. They finally patched it with concrete, 5 feet away from the load baring wall and sump pump that never fixed the issue. The Wall was placed in the WRONG spot. Nor did I need a sump pump.Now I'm stuck with a wall where there was never a leak. But they tried to convince me I had 2 leaks when the water came in the exact same area prior to the wall. Mind you they never looked for a leak. They said I was the expert to tell them where the leak was. They never researched or analyzed further. They never even looked!! I know nothing of how water travels into the home from outside. They are supposed to be the experts. I do not recommend these ppl. Please get another opinion when dealing with Trotter. Money down the drain. read more

This is probably the most professional, friendly, and most importantly honest Residential issue company I have ever dealt with. I scheduled an appointment. Alex came out with his equipment diagnosed the issue, recommended the solution, put his findings in writing, referred me to honest vendors, and took my calls on a Saturday night and a Sunday morning to go over the findings and solutions as I was on a deadline. ALL of that without charging me a single penny. That kind of service is exceptional and now I understand why my cousin recommended them to me. On top of that Alex was extremely knowledgeable, honest, and precise in his analysis and findings. I liked the salesman from this company. They offered me a seasonal discount of $400. They've been in business (Not same owner) for a long time, so we chose them to do our basement waterproofing. They sent out 3 men with shovels and a jackhammer to do the work in one day. Problem came in when the men decided it would save them a lot of work to use most of the trench that our French drain occupied, so they just ruined that drain completely and used the trench for their own drain, leaving an almost impossible situation in which to have the replacement French drain put in. I discussed the French drain in advance with everyone involved and was assured they would never do anything to disturb it. This left us with the cost of days of man hours to re dig the trench, all the materials needed to rebuild it, and a drain that no longer worked, causing water to saturate the ground along the house. They "accidently" tore down part of a wall and were unwilling to pay for the repair. Keep in mind that they already cost us about $2500 in legitimate repair as part of the job that they don't do for over $4000. They would not give me a copy of the signed contract that showed we had paid in full and the warranty. I was able to get that e mailed to me a week later. When I contacted them about the damage I received no reply and filed a complaint against them. This at least, another week later, got me a phone call and Brian came out to see the damage for himself. He did not say how his men should never have done that, sorry, those men will be reprimanded, unacceptable behavior to ruin your drain, or anything of the kind. He was almost threatening that I had caused HIM a problem by complaining about what they had done, and that I needed to remove my complaint. read more

We had a musty smell in our basement and the gentleman did not try to sell additional services. He said it had been raining a lot and there was no water coming in.
