This is my honest review for SFI Concrete and it's owner Lance Johnson. I should have trusted my first instincts. The bad body odor, enlarged eye pupils, and rambling conversation were my first clues of probable substance abuse. The terrible work quality, lies about time line, crew size(was told he had 4 man crew) unreliability and total lack of professionalism were the next signs of trouble. He started the job negotiation with no mention of deposit. The first day of work he started asking for money. I reluctantly agreed and gave him a 40 % (!!!) deposit. The next day he is asking for MORE money by text at 7am. When I did not respond he showed up, packed his tools (but left his scrap forms and garbage)and left, never to be seen again. No phone call, text... nothing. Now I am left with a job 1/3 completed, a torn up unusable stair case, muddy mess. The incredible side to this is the fact that he had about one and a half days of work left. All of the materials were already purchased! Just finish the job as agreed and be paid. But instead, another irrational decision to walk away without finishing your contracted agreement. Are you seeing a pattern here?? Other issues:
Would not accept a check in the company name. Had to be written to him personally. Are you listening IRS??
Brought his 3 children, ages 6-10 to the job site for two days. One day they stayed until 9:30 pm. This obviously puts me in a potentially huge liability situation and I'm sure his claim of being insured is a lie too. Hello Child Protective Services??
His ratty old work truck has Vermont tags. Just another sign of probable illegal business practices and not paying taxes in Georgia, where he lives. DMV would be interested in this, I am sure.
And finally the work quality. Absolutely terrible. Crooked walls, major imperfections in the concrete including holes, bumps and bulges, form seam lines.... completely unacceptable.
