The lady at the front desk entered incorrect size of rocks, we asked to order 3/4 to 1.5 inch and she placed the order for 1.5 to 3 inches. When inquired at delivery time, she stated there's no 3/4 inch of rocks, it's 0.75 How dumb? How can someone be a manager and doesn't know 3/4=0.75 We asked for smaller rock size so the quantity was more than it would be for larger rocks. Another proof that she obviously placed the wrong order since the quantity of rocks is a lot. Never will go to this place again. read more

This rating is for a particular person. I called before I visited to inquire about a specific gravel and spoke to a lady. When I got there, the women in the office pointed me to where it was outside. When I got outside Christian seemed to appear from nowhere and seen that I needed help. He took the time to answer my questions and even provided sample bags for me to take the gravel home, while I think about it. He also took the time to wet the gravel to show what it would look like. I can't thank Kendra and her entire time at Tri-State enough for all of their help. My wife and I have been in at least 5 times to view and order more material for our backyard and they've been awesome every single time! I ordered 250 blocks for retaining wall, 4 tons of rock, rebar, sand, pea gravel, custom fire pit and wall caps, etc from them. Everything has been delivered on time with no issues. Prices are great, too! This place was set to close at 2 pm., and I arrived at 1:25 pm on a hot 108 degree day. I waited in my air conditioned car, as one attendant was helping a customer with a big truck and haul trailer. I walked to the middle of quarry and picked 3 small boulders from an area I had previously picked from twice at the end of last year. Another attendant came out of office to assist me. I showed him what I wanted, and that I had only paid about $30.00 previously for a similar rock. He stated he was unsure, but okay. He then told me to back my car into the middle of the quarry so that he could load it into my car. I asked him if he was sure, because they have NEVER done that in the past. They usually would load it onto their own equipment, go weigh it and clean or water it, then bring it over to my vehicle, after they hand me the slip to pay for it. Once paid, they load it into the back of my vehicle. Anyway, after he loaded the small rock Boulder into back of my SUV, he said it would be 150. I said, 150 what? I said 150.00 dollars for one rock. He stated that that was what he was told. I said, I have never heard of one rock that size costing $150.00. He told me that possibly when I came before the person was new and charged the wrong price. After trying to reason with the attendant to see if the price was correct, it came to nothing, so I told him to take the rock out the car. I then drove my car out the middle of the quarry and left. I will NEVER buy anything from this material quarry again. This was the most ridiculous, discriminatory customer service experience that this black woman will ever experience. You should NEVER treat someone this way, especially since I am a public servant and work for the COR Executive that support your district, that allows you to be in business in the first place. I am sure I will never get an apology or explanation to downright ignorant way to serve customers and the Inland Empire. Please, do better! I will never go there again. read more

I ordered 10 yards stabilized Decomposed Granite, 5 yards carrol canyon rock, 4 yards Palm Springs gold rock, and 3.5 yards of topsoil. I did all the work myself so I make sure to measure the area a couple times to ensure getting the right quantity. I also added on at least 10% just in case and I was never short on material. I want to shout out Sam Lawhead for the quick responses to my email. Kendra in the office was great when taking my orders on the phone and in person. The gentlemen in the office was also great and I was offered help by at least one of the yard guys each time I went in even though I don't look like your typical do it yourself guy. The delivery drivers were always on time and did a great job dropping my the material where I needed it and making sure I closed my garage to avoid dust. If you ask for a price sheet you will get it, if you ask for help you will get it. Thank you to all the employees and their help! I had been shopping for 2 mid-sized Boulders for landscaping at my Norco residence. Not finding anything boulders I liked, as well as, I felt the landscape boulder prices from the Vendors I had check out were to high on their Boulder prices, so I gave up looking. A few months later I decided to look some more and I found Tri-State Materials in Winchester. What a pleasant surprise I got once I got there. The staff at Tri-State were very friendly, helpful and professional. Daniel helped me find 2 very nice size Boulders with nice color to them. Kendra in the office was also very nice and she gave me a Military discount on my purchase and delivery to my Norco residence, which I though was very fair and reasonable. To my surprise, Kendra offered to deliver my 2 Boulders that same day and she introduced me to the Shane the truck delivery person. About an hour later, Shane showed up at my residence and placed my 2 new beautiful Boulders in my yard area in a perfect location. So happy with the two very large Honey Quartz boulders we just had delivered. We picked them out about five weeks ago, and although I was nervous whether the two boulders we had chosen would be the same that got delivered after so many weeks, there was no need to worry. Our two unique boulders we picked out over a month ago arrived safely yesterday. It was a bit of a difficult install and it was actually the drivers first large boulder install, but he did a great job and there was no damage to our planter. Both he and the other installer were great, fast, and accomodated my pickiness about the exact placement of each boulder. Recommend not using Tri-State on Winchester Rd. Ordered 5 cu yd Crushed rock only received around 3 cu yds!! When our landscapers put rock down they were short to cover only 600sq ft Had to go back for another yard. Manager stated that their loader operator does not make mistakes when loading. Bottom line: I paid for 6 cu yd at a cost of $897.02 for only 600 sq ft 2 " thick When I complained they were only offering a store credit for 1 yard they should have credited 2 yards on my credit card. If you go there watch them load the truck or you may get screwed!! read more

I usually stop in and buy products 3-4 times per week so my review stems from many experiences over many years rather than a one- time visit. Jason and Suetta are always so helpful and pleasant and possess outstanding customer service skills. They are knowledgeable about the products and go out of their way to make sure I am satisfied. The guys in the yard are great and quickly get my products loaded and are always friendly. The owner, Rob, knows how to treat a customer and make you feel like your business is always appreciated. He takes pride in what he does and is quick to solve any problem I may be having with total professionalism. You will enjoy doing business with him. You won't find products of higher quality or for a better price. Occasionally, if working a long distance away, I am forced to use a different materials yard and man can I tell the difference. I had already spent several thousand dollars on flagstone and 500# boulders when I went to order thousands in very nice rock. My contractor gets a small discount. I called the day before to see if my contractor needed to be there in person when I placed my order. I was told that he didn't need to be there and just let them know his name to apply the discount. This made sense, normally when I selected materials they gave me estimates with his discount and he was never with me. So I went the next day to order a couple of thousand dollars in rock. When I asked to apply his discount I was told by the man behind the desk that wouldn't be done because my contractor wasn't there. I explained I called ahead of time yesterday and it was confirmed that this would be fine. I had never seen him in the office or dealt with him before (perhaps they were short on staff that day). He gave lame deceptive reasons about protecting contractors as to why this couldn't be done. There is no reason giving a discount can harm a contractor because you aren't seeing any of their account info and you are paying in full yourself. He finished his explanation with this, "you can complain all you want and it won't change anything because I am the owner". I am an understanding person. He could have just apologized that I was given the wrong information and said but unfortunately that is their policy. We were luckily able to get my contractor on the phone to verbally approve (and it seemed he knew him well enough to know his voice). I ended up making the purchase out of obligation to the fact we needed to get this done as other steps required the rock being placed first. I am disappointed the owner was rude, narcissistic, unprofessional and ungrateful. Normally small business owners treat their customers with the highest respect and consideration. I gave his business several thousand over the course of two months. I will do future business else where. I'd rather support a business where the owner values their customers and respects them. To be clear, it wasn't their mistake of bad information that ruined it for me...but how he handled it. If you consider shopping there and anything goes wrong just remember "you can complain all you want and it won't change anything because I am the owner." This was a small simple incident but how would he handle something like their delivery truck taking out your prized plants or hitting your home. What if they damage your truck while loading it..."you can complain all you want and it won't change anything because I am the owner." read more

I gave a girl over the phone my measurements and she said I would need 3 1/2 yards of material. When my husband went to Tristate to order it there they told him he needed 4 1/2 yards of material. We ended up with the extra yard left over and at $97.50 a yard that is a lot of wasted money. The rock we purchased "desert gold" was so full of sand it was ridiculous. When I called to discuss the issues the man who answered the phone was very short and very rude. He told me that it is what it is and it just comes from the quarry that way. I asked them how come they charge the same amount for this rock as the others when they know half of it is dirt. He told me it requires excessive washing and that we needed to do that. We are putting rock in for drought tolerance, we shouldn't have to use an excessive amount of water just to clean off what they could have sifted out. We are currently working with several landscapers on our project and each looked at the rock and said it was ridiculous and each of the them knew automatically where we got the rock from because this is a common problem with Tristate. If you want to go with rock go somewhere else. If you want dirt then buy their rock and you should be just fine. read more
