Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Before coming to this location, I would regularly change my oil myself. Decided to stop by one day…read morejust to see how they'd do on my vehicle. I think I'll get my oil changed here from now on. I came in on a weekend, so all three lines were full. However, the line moved at a reasonable pace and I wasn't waiting for too long. I was helped by Eddie, whom was very friendly and swift to write down my vehicles mileage and scan the door jamb sticker. I also specifically requested 5w-30 and Eddie made sure that I got what I requested. The service techs were also exceptional, they are great at communicating with each other and I was also shown the oil level on my dipstick before they were done with the oil change. Recently I took my vehicle in to get my ac serviced. Again, I was very swiftly helped, this time by a gentleman named Vic. I had a nice chat with him and since we both own Mitsubishis, he was very familiar with my car and it's needs. This location has great management, both times I've gone I've had great experiences. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely return!

I am a teacher and public servant and yesterday I put in a 12 hour work day where I rarely sat in one location and was constantly mobile. My rest is valuable. Upon reflection, NO I won't be by Tuesday which is your earliest convenience so you can scan my car for more issues that your team has caused. I will go to my trusted mechanic and never use Valvoline again. In fact I have already begun warning my friends of your incompetent and rude services. I thought the manager was professional but his cute giggle after my call explaining I could not make it this morning and would be in this afternoon sealed the deal. Arrogance, rude, ridiculous arrogance. I have used this location for upward of 20 years not consistently but whenever I am in the neighborhood and need an oil change. The new guard is young, and barely speak. Bark orders at you from the moment you roll in, and then do the classic up-sell. They up-sold me an air filter on April 17th and I bit. The next day my car was jerking (old manager boy let me know that there is a difference between jerking and shaking as if that were super critical to me and my situation.) I am a teacher and have few days off of luxury. I took a day to run errands and returned to Valvoline to let them know that something was wrong. Alas they showed my the air filter box they had broken. They scrambled and scratched heads, called manager. I sat at their place for more than two hours of my day. They finally told me they would do a temporary fix for my car and the part would be in four days later. The fix. The fix was in a Home Depot bag on my engine. Tape. They taped my damaged air box together. It jerked and shook more as per my laments understanding of my car. I felt concerned this could further damage my engine. I contacted corporate and have yet to hear from them either. Taped my air filter box. Tape. I could have had my early elementary school children do the temporary fix. I got the call for the part in two days. Maybe corporate called them to repair this. Who knows? I've communicated with 0 professionals. They replaced the filter with a new one (they showed me the box.) I drove away and low and behold, when it idles it JERKS. I came back. A young mechanic tells me that's what happens when a vehicle has over 100,000 miles on it. What a laugh. My vehicle has about 67,000 miles on it and was fine before any Valvoline folks laid their hands on it. Old manager comes on out and drives it. That's when my wording was corrected. Sir, my wording doesn't matter. Fix what you broke. Yep, it's jerking. He pokes around, I stand around, he unscrews, etc, etc, etc. Says he needs a scanner to check. Tells me to come in tomorrow. I am a teacher. I have 0 tomorrows. Tells me to come in 7-8am Saturday. I worked over a twelve hour shift yesterday. I need my car, I need it to work well, and you need to meet my timeline because my car had 0 issues until your service center. ZERO. I call to come in this afternoon. He won't be there. As a manager you should probably be there to fix what your team broke, to make right, to rectify. These mechanics and this manager seem to give no cares about the consumer. The Valvoline office is obviously the same. I am very curious to see what my solid and steadfast mechanic will tell me you all did to my car. Not you, not Tuesday and not ever. I will use my mechanic for my oil changes. Not this crew. If you like to gamble on the health of your vehicle, go to them for a quick change. Otherwise use someone with integrity.

Five Points

TL:DR version: Excellent mechanics, excellent customer service. They are spectacular. If there's…read moresomeone reading this who needs work done on their auto, head to Goose. The whole saga: Our check engine light came on during a cross country roundtrip (San Francisco to New York!) In Tucson the mechanic was great, said the codes were random and reset the light telling us if it happened again we should have it checked out more thoroughly. It happened again. There is something particularly nerve wrecking about staring at that light knowing we have more than 5,000 miles of driving ahead of us. I found Goose through Google and called a few hours ahead and Robert, the manager, immediately put me at ease. He just has that voice of calm and assured me they could diagnose the issue. We pulled into Goose in the afternoon and took their free shuttle to a hotel. That evening Robert called and explained the issue, also saying it would not affect driving at all and encouraging us to go ahead with our trip rather than wait around for a few days while the repair (diesel exhaust reader) was performed. Then he says no charge for the diagnostic since they weren't going to be doing the work and then he says we can leave the van overnight at the shop, no problem. So they take the van with no appointment, give us a free ride across town, diagnose the issue, store the van and then don't charge us. Faith in humanity restored. It was such an amazing experience it makes me want to move to San Antonio. Thank you Robert and to the entire Goose crew. You're all amazing. And we are happily on our way.

They will definitely be able to do any work you need, and you'll feel good about who did the work,…read moremaybe that's there reasoning for charging a lot more than other shops. So in terms of that work I was happy. Their front desk staff was friendly, and the lead tech was always willing to talk and was nice about it too. He definitely enjoys diving into the work and communicating his labor and findings, which was super refreshing. That being said I did pay for a diagnostic for an ac related fault (electrical) and their final diagnosis was wrong, they recommended I replace a 250$ part. After replacing the part (work done myself because the labor cost was exorbitant by my standards) it became evident that the part wasn't actually faulty. And if they had done the work maybe the costs would have been backed by their guarantee to fix the problem, no way for me to know. After being upset/frustrated by the incorrect diagnosis, and not eager to trust a shop to figure this out for me I put my own time into it and found a corroded wire to the module. It was a hard diagnosis so I get them not figuring it out but when you spend a lot of money like this you kinda wish that they could've figured it out for you. All in all I think they're capable, and you can trust the work, but with me I think some more diligence would've made this less of a headache. Also understand the prices will likely be on high side, probably due to them establishing themselves as a quality team.
