Food: fantastic, authentic, scratch-made Mexican food (and some creative fusion items). We had a couple tacos (Taco Tuesday!!) w/ handmade tortillas, three salsas with handmade chips and their famous Papas entree. All items were worth trekking here from anywhere in Colorado to eat. The quality of ingredients and overall amazing flavor was surprising to come from a small mountain town. Ambiance: cozy, well decorated, great playlist and a good bar make for an excellent experience Service: Sara was so welcoming, sweet and knowledgeable. Seems like everyone working here takes pride in being a part of this place which then makes being here even more inviting. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and they were consistently busy but not overly crowded. A quaint little spot in a strip mall in Nederland. I got the loaded potatoes and added crispy fish. Definitely super filling and priced fairly. Taste was a 4 out of 5. Lots of delicious elements to it, especially the green sauce. My fiance got the chimichanga and man did he get his moneys worth! Massive chimi and he really enjoyed it. We had chips and salsa to start and the salsa was quite tasty. Coincidentally, the couple next to us had ordered the same dishes! So, maybe we got two of the more popular items on the menu. We didn't get drinks this time, but may have to try a margarita when we come back. Service was friendly and attentive. Went here on a whim because we didn't want pizza or bbq and so glad we did!! Cute ambiance and friendly service. Oh the food! Solid chips and guacamole, coin margarita and we got the potato dish with carnitas and that knocked it out of the park! Great little place for lunch or dinner for Mexican fare. There is seating inside and out. We got the trio appetizer with chips, queso, salsa, and guac...delicious! Fabulous food from this little place! Chimichanga, both batter-fried fish & beef tocos, even side salad were exceptionally fresh & tasty. Cinnamon Churros w/whipped cream & brown sugar topped it off. The best Mexican food around! I'm pretty picky about my Mexican food but I have nothing bad to say about this place. We come here every July while we are camping nearby and it's a staple for us. I don't even know what to say except that those tres gringos knew exactly what these dos gringas needed after our last Saturday of many summer Saturdays working our beeps off. Today we said farewell to the farmers market booth we manned every weekend in Denver and we needed to just hit the road to the Netherlands and breathe some fresh air out here. Honestly we got to our hotel motel and we were like woah. Are we going to get murdered or what?? So we were like let's just calm down and go eat some food. This is how we found ourselves at the beautiful tres gringos. My partner got a little margarita of course and that was awesome and pink and delicious. We also got a salsa flight and the raspberry one was great, tasted like a raspberry but not tooooo sweet. And pico de gallo is one of the loves of my life and it was perfect for me. They are not fooling around with the presentations here either. They're putting the sauce all fancy and it looks like chef Gordon Ramsey made it. So yeah i'm thoroughly impressed with these chefs and I'd probably eat here once a day if I lived in this town and also the service was fantastic. Hell yeah, this place is legit! Just inside this unassuming storefront in Nederland is an authentic Mexican joint. Margaritas are unbelievable, chips with salsa and bean dip were spot on, and an assortment of incredible tacos. We stopped in for a quick lunch and our server was amazing. So personable, quick to make a food recommendation, and worked her ass off the entire time we were there. I didn't see anyone waiting for food or service the entire time. Had a late lunch after doing Coyote trail. This place did not disappoint! The 3 flight salsa was fabulous, our server Avy was SO amazing and accommodating to our wants and needs! Walk away from the main strip and check this cool place out. I got the veggie chimichanga, which was delicious and much fresher (read: not greasy) and flavorful than you often find, using yummy mushrooms for its key ingredient. Plate comes with salad with fantastic spicy chili lime dressing. Rotating IPAs if you don't want a Mexican beer. read more

The food was good but came out very slow and never had water refills. There was also unacceptable behavior from waiter and kitchen staff which our server noted from the beginning was her boss . As my group ordered food our blonde older waiter was rude from the start. We asked questions about the menu as we are from out of state and unfamiliar with this restaurant. As I waited in line for the restroom she was talking to the back staff about our ages and how we were "mad" that she couldn't split our meal. She continued on about how we ordered 2small nachos as adults. I walked away as I was tired of listening to the disrespect. We were in no words rude to her or immature. We asked questions and she was unable to communicate back with a positive attitude. I'm displeased with her but props to the other waiter, she had a smile on her face and greeted us kindly. read more

So, let's talk about the 3 White Guys restaurant, also known as Tres Gringos. We visited during FDGDs and it was a welcome reprieve from the crowd as it was not on the main strip of the festival. It was worth the little extra walk though. Food was good and the drinks were definitely stronger than on the main strip. The atmosphere is more Mexican Cafe? Definitely casual. Now... let's talk about the staff... Whitney, Whitney, Whitney... she was awesome! She got me coffee with a warning. Tres Gringos will NOT be known for their coffee. She was prompt and always right there for our needs. She was helpful the menu, and just an upbeat person. We enjoyed her. So, come and sit a little. Friendly, quick and professional service! Palomas are delicious and they have a few good vegan options :) Edit: initial review was midway through our dining experience (after drinks had arrived). I got the carnitas entree, it was fantastic! Very juicy, flavorful and a unique twist with the arugula salad and blackberry Serrano jam to put into the tacos. Loved that it came with fried plantains. My girlfriend got three mixed tacos: carnitas, fish and barbacoa. She was happy with it (she's short in descriptors atm). Her dad got the pollo enchiladas. He's very reserved in his ratings and said they were "pretty good." We all loved the guac and the chips were fresh and warm. Check this place out for sure! read more

Old mountain-town strip meets great Mexican food. We sat on the south side of the strip, mid day, on their patio. They have enough space for 6 parties. I had two Pescado tacos which were amazing. The fish was light and the beer batter wasn't overly thick. The slaw on top was wonderful along with the squeezed lime. The aioli sauce was amazing, tangy and light. Tres Gringos is a pretty decent American-Mexican restaurant struggling with the craziness of COVID, some degree of popularity and perhaps some front of house management issues. That being said, their food is pretty good. A standard set of tacos with some creative and fun toppings, and their margaritas are superb. The salsa is trying a little too hard to be creative (blueberry serrano anyone?) but the tacos are quite solid. If they get the service act together happy to give a fourth star, and we will be back. Please put some shade over the tables in the parking lot! read more

None of this matters, of course, to the good folks at Rocky Cut Brewing Company. This is off the main drag of Estes in an unassuming strip plaza. Humble vibes inside, a simple U-shaped bar top with seating all around, a few smaller tables, a community table, and a large patio with mostly picnic table seating. If you're lucky, snag a stool right along the Big Thompson River! Though, I recommend they fix the wooden placeholders for beers, they're leaning on the wrong side of history, we don't want any full glasses of beer reaching an unnecessary demise! Interference IPA * American IPA * 6.7% * 16oz ($7) From their website: "Climbing the Interference Boulder in Rocky Mountain National Park requires strength and power. This Colorado IPA showcases the power of hops with an intense blend forging citrus aromas with a pine forward finish. Featured ingredients: Cascade, El Dorado, Mosaic, Chinook, & Simcoe hops * Recommended adventure: hiking Black Lake, climbing the Twin Owls, skiing upper Hidden Valley." A perfectly apt description. I would summarize this beer just as they did, focusing on hops, citrus, and pine. Absolutely delicious, a memorable IPA in recent memory. I liked it so much I ordered it again and it tasted just as delicious the second time down! They also had a food truck outside, so safe to assume they do this often. Puppies are welcome too:) I sampled some of their beers, and picked the amber which was GABF award, good one! My friend had a lighter beer and she was happy with it. Staff were friendly, gave good recommendation, and their beer samples.
