This is a very cool little place hidden away by the big HEB on McPherson. I came here after seeing they had some plant-based options tucked away between all the meats! My Miller Lite was cold and the service was super attentive. I was lucky to get a table in this tiny spot and it wasn't until the meal started that I noticed they had a small bar in here. I ordered the mushroom tacos lunch combo, which came with beans. The Frijoles Puercos, on the menu, are listed as what in English means "pork beans." The beans came with chunks of smoked pork and some sausage in them. Absolutely ridiculously delicious. My mushroom tacos were good, but not loaded up much. Still, though, they hit the spot. On a wild hair I also ordered a fideo taco - fideo being a Mexican pasta and comfort food. It basically is a legit Mexican version of a spaghetti taco. The taco was difficult to eat neatly, but I managed to get it all down. If I ever find myself back in Laredo, I would definitely return. The experience here was unique.

4 sirloin tacos, chips and salsa appetizer

A great Mexican food place for anyone. Service was quick and welcoming. Tacos and chips were fresh. The red salsa that came with the chips was one of the most unique salsas I have had.

Ahhh, one of those trendy modern taco spots. And when it's Taco Tuesday, it's a reliable option. And you can order online. So of course that's what I did. Seeing the menu, I saw the suadero which called my name as it's got a smooth texture and I recall watching a Taco Chronicles episode dedicated to the meat as the "mexican cousin to beef brisket". Of course I went for that; after arriving to pick up the goods, I went back to my hotel and unwrapped to dig in. So the packaging was a red flag to me as it's stacks of meat and tortillas upon stacks of meat and tortillas. That happens when you're packaging tacos in a bowl. I prefer my tacos individually wrapped or packaged where they are assembled side by side. So now the tacos are uneven with the meat ratio. After having reassembled them and adding the onions/cilantro (which came on the side) and some of that green salsa, my eating took place. The suadero is tasty but texture-wise was dry (thank goodness for that salsa). A plus was they provided me a good amount of meat on the tacos and I received 4 instead of 3; a pleasant surprise. While these aren't the best in Laredo, I'd be open to trying other things here again next time; and I'll probably eat at the location instead of bringing it back with me.

I had the pirata taco and a side of beans. Overall food was good and the place is clean. They serve you at the table as if it was a full service restaurant without the look. Kinda cool. Food was cooked to order and tasted fresh. The bring out a variety of salsa upon arrival but with no chips. The prices are great for the portion of food you receive.

This place was good. But could have been alittle better! I wasn't wowed. But I was satisfied. Some of the flavors like street corn could have used less sauce more spice. It's was okay. I just thought it could be better

I mixed the pineapple w lemonade.

Must try. Glad we did. It's like a trendy city vibe with fancier street tacos. Ppl were awesome and nice. I could imagine why the bad reviews before because they are new and was adjusting to the new business cause it still feels mom and pop run or maybe it's a local service feel. I luv the food so I don't mind. Plus our waitress was awesome and she recommended everything she liked and it was goooood. Parking is empty. Advice for the business: they need to open earlier and do like breakfast tacos. Round 2 for me!

Trompo Al Pastor

The newest spot to eat in town. With that feature, expect to see a long line if you come for dinner. My wife and I visited shortly after opening and had a great experience. I started with the appetizer of coliflor frita because of the recommendation of our server. Well seasoned fries with a tangy sauce. Then we tried 3 different types of tacos. All of them were solid choices but in ranking I preferred the bistek, al pastor and trompo de res. They are double corn tortillas and 2-3 bite tacos. The food selection is familiar to everyone who lives here but it's worth giving this new establishment a shot.

The prices here are reasonable compared to Houston or Dallas, for example, but most everything is a la carte, so you can spend a lot quickly if not careful. My eyes were set on the seabass ceviche, so I know I had to have that. I also wanted a cocktail, but I remembered I had a long drive ahead of me, so I just opted for more food instead. I ordered the corn flake fried chicken sandwich. Ceviche - a nicely sized portion that comes with 2 crispy tortillas. Inside the ceviche are finely diced carrots, red onions and cucumbers, cilantro, sliced avocado, and numerous pieces of diced fish and lime juice at the bottom. 5/5 Chicken sandwich - served on a plate with 2 sliced yellow cherry tomatoes sitting face down. This has a large breast, with pickles and cole slaw. 3/5 This is my kinda place, and it seems fairly unusual to find a restaurant like this in Laredo of all places. I would definitely come back on my next visit to Laredo.

The menu online looks spectacular and had a lot of interesting dishes. I was super excited. I saw that they were open late and I was also very happy about this because my meal was after work. I arrived at 9:30 walked in the side entrance and saw a post hunched over and squatted down, looking at her iPhone. I also saw another employee leaning on the host stand talking to her. He didn't greet me neither did she until I walked to the front of the house stand. She got up from her crouch position and said can I help you? I was surprised to see what she was wearing, an oversized hoodie with some type of logo on it, which was not an appropriate thing to wear, and it did not match the other employee that were more crisp. I said dining for one and grabbed a menu and slid it across the host stand out of pure laziness. She slumped her way over with the menu hanging on her left side and sat me at a table. Wow what a lousy first impression for a restaurant that I was so excited to visit. A server came over gave me a menu and brought me water. Disappointed to see that the menu was completely different from the menu that I saw online. No unique dishes and the variety was not great. However, I was there and felt I'd give it a chance. A server that was at the bar entering tickets or something, kept looking over at my table, but no one ever acknowledged me after I was seated. I waited for about 10 minutes until someone realized I need assistance. The server finally came over. He was polite to check my order served my meal left me to be on my own to check on me one time, but it certainly wasn't a two minute check when he should to see if my meal was to my satisfaction. My plates were not cleared and I had to ask for the check.. the food was OK. I had the salmon. Nothing spectacular. risotto was uneventful. Got my check and left. No goodbye, no thank you for coming in no stand out service. As a restaurant professional in California, I can't figure out if it's just a Texas thing or they rate everything high or this restaurant truly is deserving of its accolades..

If you find yourself in the city of Laredo, Texas and hungry for delicious Mexican style seafood…read moreand sushi, you are in the right place. Being a border city to Mexico, Laredo has it's share of great seafood restaurants and La Laguna Mariscos sure has a spotlight on them. Not too long ago I came with a friend for ceviche de camarones (Shrimp Ceviche) and boy were we in for a surprise. The ceviche was well served combined with spicy prepared cucumber slices and of course tasty. The quality on this dish is great and recommend two people sharing this because of the portion size. Unless you are very hungry then go ahead.. Lol, I on the other hand ordered their Avocado Sushi roll and enjoyed this dish. The roll had a yummy fresh taste to it and had just the right amount of avocado on the roll. This avocado roll came with a side of crab salad, Tampico and fried rice. Just great. Price was decent and overall satisfied with the food. What I liked about the restaurant is that the ambiance is so vibrant and full of life. I believe they have live music on the weekends and let me tell you, salsa music at La Laguna is spicy! ay ay ay! Therefore, I would also like to suggest to the owner that management should be on top of their servers at all times. In fact, management should be on top of their servers and customers. That Saturday I went to dine at La Laguna took almost 26 minutes for us to get our orders in to our server. I understand that businesses can be very busy, specially on a Saturday night, but these small details make a big difference. The restaurant is very neat and clean. Servers are friendly and love that they even suggest good dishes from the menu. Thanks guys!
