I ordered delivery from here and was expecting a positive experience based on all of the reviews. I must say, I was disappointed. I ordered at 521 and was still waiting at almost 7pm for delivery. (Estimated 35-55 minute delivery time) When I contacted Grubhub about the issue they said the order was delivered at 548. Hmm, is that so... I never got contacted. No knock on the door, no email, no phone call or text. I head out to check and low and behold there is a bag. A bag of my food. Now cold.. Moving onto the food. Man, I wish it would have been hot!! I can only imagine how good it would have been had someone only let me know it had been delivered. I ordered the carnitas and pastor tacos. Very GOOD!! They could have been better fresh though. Moral of the story, eat there. Don't trust a delivery service to your food. At least not here in a Laredo!! read more

Sandwiched between a seventh day Adventist church and another church. The service was great. The tacos were good but everything else lacked a normal Mexican feel for a restaurant. Chips and salsa were not included. You could order chips and salsa but they were 1 dollar for the chips and 50 cents for the salsa. The chips were no more than 10 chips. I started laughing when I saw it because I was thinking I would share with the chips. The lemonade was fresh and tasted great. By far and large, this tiny cafe is Laredo's best kept secret. A small family run restaurant tucked in a corner of a strip mall - you'd be hard pressed to find it unless you knew they were there. I went under a recommendation of a coworker to satisfy my torta craving. The chef-owner is a sweet woman, who dispute our massive language barrier (she speaks little to no english, and my Spanish knowledge includes few verbs) fumbled through my order and let me try several items on the menu. This was one of the best tortas I've had, and the only place I will order them in Laredo going forward. Food is flavorful, consistent in quality, and always fresh. Best carnitas north of the border. Went there for dinner last night and I was really impressed. Very friendly staff and awesome food. Tortillas are hand made to order and delicious. I ordered the tacos (chicharrón, buche and trompa) and all three were unique and delicious. This is now my go-to place when I visit Laredo. EVERYTHING is homemade by a mother/daughter team and their industrious kitchen staff. The corn tortillas are made on demand from a giant mass of freshly ground nixtamal. The carnitas are outstanding! And their torta ahogada is to die for. Even the telera bread is made daily by the owner. My favorite though is what I affectionately call "meat chips"... the chicharrón duro. Food is amazing it always has been super good what has gone down is there service in the beginning it was the husband and wife or at least I think they are husband and wife and they treated you nice along with the waitresses this time around the waiter was not helpful at all and the lady didn't offer anything we didn't even get a refill was going to buy desert but no one ever came by again so got up and paid. It's a shame to see great tasting food with really bad service and then the owners wonder why no one goes to their establishment and end up closing. read more

Had a great lunch here yesterday. I don't know a lick of Spanish (which was clearly very rare in Laredo), so I was a little SOL when the menu was completely in Spanish, and the 3 ladies running the place basically spoke no English, but to my luck, they had a little girl (assuming their grandchild or child, probably around 10 y/o) that spoke English and basically took my order with one of the ladies guiding her over her shoulder. She was hilarious. Pretty shy, innocently cute, but polite and genuine, and she help me figure out what the menu said and explained a few meals for me. And it was funny because after they took my order, I'm pretty sure they were laughing at my lack of Spanish because they all quickly spoke to each other with giggles and then broke out in laughter, but it's okay, I thought it was funny as well :). I got a super carne Asada torta, and (after asking the opinion of the girl) a taco with the meat type I can't remember... lol (started with an M, and there was a Z in there somewhere, but it was great), and they were both awesome. It was also very cheap. Complementary chips and salsa (salsa was bomb), a torta, and a taco was 9 bucks and some change. We were recommended to visit this place while visiting. It was so good that we drove an extra 30 minutes out of the way to go to this place two days in a row.
