We also like to walk around the area and try out the food spots. They have an outdoor market on Sunday. We stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast. We ended up being the only guests staying there. We had the entire house to ourselves. The room was antique but well maintained. The bathroom was updated and the water was warm with great pressure. The bed was comfortable. We did watch a movie on the small television; and there was an issue with the television, but the host fixed it. The host over the Inn were pleasant and welcoming. They live on-site. They suggested a couple of places in town. The bed and breakfast is located within walking distance of a lot of sights and restaurants. The breakfast was cooked to order as we were the only guests that day. It was delicious, served on-site, and the perfect amount of food. After flipping through photos from over a decade earlier, I realized this was the same location we stayed at over a decade ago. At that time, it had a different owner, and we used a Groupon to cover the costs. We would definitely stay again! It was a great price for the value, cleanliness, and hospitality. Thanks!

It is walking distance to downtown, to the marina and just about anywhere you want to visit while being in Mt. Dora! The hosts Evan and Christy were wonderful! They made sure you had everything you needed and always seemed to be checking to ensure you were happy and your stay was going well. Evan gave great advice of places to eat and Christy made sure you started your day off with an exceptional breakfast! They are a great team together and are great Innkeepers! It is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. One has access to the living and dinning room areas, which are beautiful and relaxing. The music was also extraordinary! 2)The treatment I received by the hosts, was just beyond expectations: very kind, accommodating, and I felt at home with dear friends. 3) The breakfast is simply unbelievable: gourmet, delicious beyond words and with an amazing assortment of different things (e.g., fresh juices, fresh fruit, French toasts, sausage and roasted apples, and a variety of beverages). 4) It is a blocks from downtown. Quiet and safe place to park your boat. Kitchenette rooms, which is the only room style I've stayed in, are spacious with a stove, fridge, microwave and coffee pot. So if your gonna be here a few days or weeks can cook your own meals. Wi-fi is free and works well. Parking can be a bit tight with a boat but if other boaters are there it can be worked out. Plugs available to charge your batteries at no charge. Beds are super comfortable and A/C is ice cold. Love this place.

We decided on a last minute trip to Alexander Springs and were worried that we wouldn't find a place to stay in time (we didn't have our camping gear together so a hotel/inn was a MUST). Found Fox Den and was able to make a reservation immediately- what a relief! I was SUPER excited to have my first inn experience. The inn is located within 5 minutes from a Publix and 20 minutes from the springs. The rates are fixed prices so no surprises there! We chose to stay in a Small Room which had 2 double beds, a tv, mini refrigerator, air conditioner, a coffee maker, and a small bathroom (soap/towels/toilet paper were all fully stocked). They even turned the A/C on for us so we had a nice cool room upon arrival. I even noticed how clean everything was, WOW! Parking is right outside of your room and plenty of space in the lot. The owners are always available by phone-call/text- and answered all of my questions. If you're looking for a cozy and different experience, this is definitely somewhere you want to go.

Spoke with Margie from the beginning, who is the owner and manager of Heron Cay. Super close to town, and they partner with a fantastic transportation service (run by Allan) that will cart you to town as soon as you call (although if you prefer walking it's definitely within walking distance- about 1/2 mile out). Super comfy and homey, I loved how we felt like we were staying with a relative when we were there. We were in the Captain's Loft, which was in a private walk up and on the second floor. Beautiful view of the lake, comfortable bed, and I just couldn't get enough of the decor. Also had a full sized coffee pot with great coffee for use in the room (I love and drink a lot of coffee so this definitely gets bonus points!) Margie serves a beautiful breakfast with delicious home-made bread, fresh cut fruit, eggs, sausage and amazing bread pudding. Coffee and juice as well. She also has super cute Borzoi dogs and kitties that I fell in love with. Don't go to Mount Dora without visiting Margie at Heron Cay Lakeside, really made this the best visit to Mount Dora ever! They suggested packing small suitcases which was smart because the steps are steep and narrow. The house is definitely Victorian style. Lots of wallpaper, pictures and decorations. Our room was very nice with loads of room. We had a small refrigerator and a coffee maker in our room. We had views of the pool and the lake. We were disappointed in the breakfast both days. Fresh fruit and homemade bread were excellent. Unfortunately pumpkin spice bread was served both days. The main breakfast which was an egg dish both days came out so much later and we wanted to get moving, so that was unanticipated. The outside area could be really nice, but it needs a lot of work. The front porch was nice to sit and enjoy being outside.

What you don't experience is the kind care of the folks who work here. Let's start with CLEAN! Lots of surfaces, lots of wood, and it is all clean and so well maintained. Friendly: the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Always available if you need to call the lift or have a question. Rooms are all furnished with an individual style. Breakfast was great! Just let them know when you think you will head to the dining room and then you order off the menu. Everything we had was great and prepared just for us. My husband was particularly fond of the grits, ordering a double portion once he had tried them! Ip really enjoyed the Cinnamon Toast with Blueberry preserves. Location:Um, did I mention it is right in the midst of Winter Garden? Great spot for walking about and exploring. I also enjoyed grabbing a cup of coffee before breakfast and sitting out front near the Winter Garden fountain, so peaceful. If you are put off by having separate hot and cold faucets, maybe pass this up, but if you want an experience and a great stay, definitely check it out and check in!

The place is owned by Inez and her granddaughter, Shelby, who helps run the place. Both are so gracious and accommodating. The Inn is charming, clean and conveniently located by downtown and Rennigers (which is why we were there - for the Antique show). It's affordable and they were nice enough to work with us on their two-night required stay rule. (For festivals they require a two-night stay but we only came for one and since they weren't sold out, they didn't charge us the extra night). We loved our stay and highly recommend this bed & breakfast to others..really good people and we're happy to support their business. We'll be back to Mt Dora for another festival and definitely staying here.

But I thought it rude that she didn't offer to show me the house after I asked to see the rooms that were empty also a very strong smell of Canabus Coming through the Ac in our upstairs room . Late at nite and again early in the am 5 /6 ish . Informed the owner at breakfast .. she said she burns sage .... was not safe it was pot for sure . I was telling he so she knew people could smell it I wasn't complaining - just thought she should know . Also we sleep with a fan and I forgot mine so I went to the hall closest to see if there was one , instead of bothering her . I found one in the hall bath a clip on one on a towel rack so I didn't think she would mind so we used it . Well when we came back later that nite there was a note on the hall bathroom door stating rather rudely that this was a private bath for another room .i did see the private sign on the door but I knew no one else was staying in the main house but us ... so the bottom line is we loved the place But I don't think the owner is as laid back as she looks or thinks she is lol
