    The Adora Inn

This is one of the finest bed and breakfasts that we've ever stayed in. The rooms are amazing. Homemade breakfast every morning at nine. Climate control was just perfect in a location that cannot be beat. I would give it a six star review. However, it only allows me to get five star review so we're going to give it a five.

This was our first trip to Mt. Dora, Fl. We chose the Adora Inn owned by Arthur and John. Very nice, quiet, quaint. I love that many of the paintings were done by Arthur himself. The breakfast was great- and I am not a breakfast person. They are both chefs. The sheets were the softest I have ever had and same goes for the pillows. We were easily able to walk to the main streets from Adora Inn. They also have 2 gorgeous Egyptian breed of dog. Thank you for a relaxing getaway.

Recent life-altering circumstances left me with a need to get away--not too far away, just away. I stumbled upon the Adora Inn through a promotion on LivingSocial. I figured a night in a B&B would be just what the doctor ordered. Having stayed at other bed and breakfasts, I assumed I knew exactly what to expect--tacky yet charming wallpaper, modest meals, mousy owners. Adora Inn proved to be far different from what I expected. This charming inn is tucked away in the heart of downtown Mount Dora and is owned and operated by John and Arthur, two sweet and hardworking men with a knack for decor and incredible cooking. The home is over 100 years old, I believe, but the owners completely renovated it to couple modern decor with the original architecture. Upon arrival, I was greeted with an incredible lunch on the porch. (On this particular day it was homemade spinach lasagna with a mixed greens salad and dulce de leche profiteroles for dessert!) I was also given suggestions for which places to visit--which restaurants were the best, where to find the best wine, and even where I may want to avoid. My accommodations were comfortable and cozy--I stayed in the vanilla room, a third floor loft with the fluffiest pillows and a deluxe bathtub. Everything was clean, and I felt right at home. Needless to say I had no trouble sleeping! Coffee is served at 8 a.m., and breakfast at 9:00. (This morning it was a TexMex affair with a breakfast quesadilla, eggs, and fresh cut fruit!) John and Arthur sat and ate breakfast with me--the only guest on this particular occasion--and we chatted about everything under the sun, while their two pups lay in waiting, hoping that we would drop some scraps. Don't worry...they weren't trying to eat the food...again, this place is very clean! John and Arthur are very hospitable and seem to take great care to make sure their guests have the most wonderful and comfortable time--they want you to feel right at home--spoiled even! And that is exactly how I felt during my stay at Adora Inn. It's safe to say that the next time I need to get away, though not too far away, I'll be returning here!

The place is owned by Inez and her granddaughter, Shelby, who helps run the place. Both are so gracious and accommodating. The Inn is charming, clean and conveniently located by downtown and Rennigers (which is why we were there - for the Antique show). It's affordable and they were nice enough to work with us on their two-night required stay rule. (For festivals they require a two-night stay but we only came for one and since they weren't sold out, they didn't charge us the extra night). We loved our stay and highly recommend this bed & breakfast to others..really good people and we're happy to support their business. We'll be back to Mt Dora for another festival and definitely staying here.

But I thought it rude that she didn't offer to show me the house after I asked to see the rooms that were empty also a very strong smell of Canabus Coming through the Ac in our upstairs room . Late at nite and again early in the am 5 /6 ish . Informed the owner at breakfast .. she said she burns sage .... was not safe it was pot for sure . I was telling he so she knew people could smell it I wasn't complaining - just thought she should know . Also we sleep with a fan and I forgot mine so I went to the hall closest to see if there was one , instead of bothering her . I found one in the hall bath a clip on one on a towel rack so I didn't think she would mind so we used it . Well when we came back later that nite there was a note on the hall bathroom door stating rather rudely that this was a private bath for another room .i did see the private sign on the door but I knew no one else was staying in the main house but us ... so the bottom line is we loved the place But I don't think the owner is as laid back as she looks or thinks she is lol

Spoke with Margie from the beginning, who is the owner and manager of Heron Cay. Super close to town, and they partner with a fantastic transportation service (run by Allan) that will cart you to town as soon as you call (although if you prefer walking it's definitely within walking distance- about 1/2 mile out). Super comfy and homey, I loved how we felt like we were staying with a relative when we were there. We were in the Captain's Loft, which was in a private walk up and on the second floor. Beautiful view of the lake, comfortable bed, and I just couldn't get enough of the decor. Also had a full sized coffee pot with great coffee for use in the room (I love and drink a lot of coffee so this definitely gets bonus points!) Margie serves a beautiful breakfast with delicious home-made bread, fresh cut fruit, eggs, sausage and amazing bread pudding. Coffee and juice as well. She also has super cute Borzoi dogs and kitties that I fell in love with. Don't go to Mount Dora without visiting Margie at Heron Cay Lakeside, really made this the best visit to Mount Dora ever! They suggested packing small suitcases which was smart because the steps are steep and narrow. The house is definitely Victorian style. Lots of wallpaper, pictures and decorations. Fresh fruit and homemade bread were excellent. Unfortunately pumpkin spice bread was served both days. The main breakfast which was an egg dish both days came out so much later and we wanted to get moving, so that was unanticipated. The outside area could be really nice, but it needs a lot of work. The front porch was nice to sit and enjoy being outside.

We also like to walk around the area and try out the food spots. They have an outdoor market on Sunday. We stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast. We ended up being the only guests staying there. We had the entire house to ourselves. The room was antique but well maintained. The bathroom was updated and the water was warm with great pressure. The bed was comfortable. We did watch a movie on the small television; and there was an issue with the television, but the host fixed it. The host over the Inn were pleasant and welcoming. They live on-site. They suggested a couple of places in town. The bed and breakfast is located within walking distance of a lot of sights and restaurants. The breakfast was cooked to order as we were the only guests that day. It was delicious, served on-site, and the perfect amount of food. At that time, it had a different owner, and we used a Groupon to cover the costs. We would definitely stay again! It was a great price for the value, cleanliness, and hospitality. Thanks!

I always love the welcoming style of a bed n breakfast, hotels are a little cold and harsh feeling to me. This is a gorgeous home, you'll feel like you're staying in an old mansion, the parking is in the driveway so navigating to your room is like walking up to your house. The rooms and furnishings are gorgeous and classically decadent. Although vintage nothing feels worn or old, everything's in great shape, well taken care of and very stylish. It was easy to see and feel how wonderful this location is, but what we didn't expect was the phenominal service. They do not skimp on the breakfast, the options are tasty, decorative, well thought out, and fantastically balanced. From the colors to the ingredients it was a joy to view and consumed. They make you feel so cared for and we left with so much joy in our hearts. I'm very grateful for them. Cheers to Sandy and Joe! Even if you have stayed there, the chances that things have fallen down hill are always possible. Hubs and I were looking for a place to stay for the LEESBURG BIKEFEST that would be CLEAN and COMFORTABLE and be able to accommodate our trailer, motorcycles and truck. Hotels? No coverage for your motorcycles and if you are like us, your bikes are an appendage and you want to protect them! Upon entering the property you are greeted by lovely grounds, a beautiful tree and lawns and an impressively maintained home. The owners came out to greet us with big smiles. DAVE and STEF were warm and inviting and made us feel as if we were visiting good friends or family. We were able to park our cycles under the carport and had plenty of parking for our trailer and truck. We reserved the smaller unit that consists of a beautifully set up bedroom and bath with a separate entrance and patio area. The room is equipped with a very clean, comfortable bed, ceiling fan, bistro table, microwave, fridge, dishes, (real) coffee maker, TV, wifi, utensils and so much more. The kindest details are noticeable in the room! Shampoo/Conditioner, Soft NICE towels, wall mounted magnified make-up MIRROR... Sooo much more to list! And THE ICING on the cake is, STEF makes an optional beautiful breakfast in the morning, set outside your door at 8am! She sweetly knocks on the interior (normally locked) door to let you know it's there...and it's almost too pretty to EAT! It's delish! They offer SOO much more. Dave is a Bass fishing guide and sets up fishing trips with a beautiful BASS boat(the property has a beautifully lit dock on the water!), they have a resident professional Magician who shows up at their optional "HAPPY HOUR" they hold in the evening at 5:30pm in a multipurpose room on the back of the property that is decorated like a cabin with bass trophy's mounted on the wood walls.... whimsical! Multiple guests attend and we were able to meet nice people that were staying for a SAILBOAT REGATTA. It's magically lit up in the evening and also has another unit that easily accommodates a family. IM NOT EASILY IMPRESSED BUT THIS STAY BLEW ME AWAY!! Yayyyyyyy! Oh we WILL book again!
