I came upon this bed and breakfast by surprise as a I searched for places to stay in Mount Dora. There is so much I can say (the list is long), but will sum it up to this: 1) The house and rooms are darling, cozy and tastefully decorated with the art of one of the owners. It is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. One has access to the living and dinning room areas, which are beautiful and relaxing. The music was also extraordinary! 2)The treatment I received by the hosts, was just beyond expectations: very kind, accommodating, and I felt at home with dear friends. 3) The breakfast is simply unbelievable: gourmet, delicious beyond words and with an amazing assortment of different things (e.g., fresh juices, fresh fruit, French toasts, sausage and roasted apples, and a variety of beverages). 4) It is a blocks from downtown. Our stay at the Adora in was nothing short of perfect. We stayed just one night in the olive room. The house has a lot of character, the rooms are very cozy, clean and comfortable. The location was perfect to walk to all the restaurants and bars downtown. Parking was right behind the house and is locked in the evening for safety. John and Arthur made me feel pampered, they are very personable and AMAZING chefs. The breakfast and caprese salad were delicious! I 110% recommend staying here if you're in the area! read more

After several fun trips to Mount Dora, we decided to catch one of Renninger's Extravaganzas. Stumbled across Adora Inn with good reviews and an opening. We're not much of the bed and breakfast type but we have had some good experiences, since it was walking distance to downtown and close to Renninger's we booked three nights. Kind of missed seeing the no TV's part which we didn't mind until we were stuck in the room on a chilly rainy evening with everything closed. Not a biggie, had to ask for some heat that night. Arthur and John are very accommodating hosts and excellent chefs. The gourmet breakfasts didn't help our diet but well worth the splurge. They definitely display their culinary skills providing top notch dining. Always a good conversation with them about the house, the region or most anything. Facility is wonderful, the room was nicely decorated and the bed very comfortable. As with most older buildings, sound travels, but that's kind of on us going to be early or rising late. Not sure why no B&B's put vent fans in the bathrooms but sure would be a nice perk, was glad to have a window that opened. Parking is secure and private, a big plus in our book. read more

So this is our last evening in Mount Dora and the Adora Inn, 5 Nights - 6 Days as the only guests. Hurricane Dorian resulting in some cancellations. In our case this was the reason of an extension, best place to wait out a storm in a house that has stood over 100 years! (Our next destination ever so slightly younger). A unique experience! John and Arthur made us feel right at home, have a fantastic house and rooms and are wizards in the kitchen, open and interested. I really liked that they joined for breakfast, fantastic breakfast by the way, as well as the engaging and open conversation on an extremely wide variety of subjects and a lot of information on the house, the town and the area at any point during the day when we met. We were very honored to be invited to Dinner one evening, thank you very much again for food, company and conversation last night and during our stay and, very happy to have met you and we hope to get to meet you again in future! read more

My husband and I were trying to plan a quick getaway for our anniversary. My 90 year old Dad lives with us AND our anniversary falls at the beginning of the season, so it isn't a particularly easy thing to do. After looking at practically every local resort and everything else within an easy drive of us, my husband suggested I look at Mt Dora. The very first inn that popped up on Yelp was the Adora. It looked perfect, THERE WAS AVAILABILITY, and we were delighted. We saw there was a little festival in town that day, we made reservations at a very nice restaurant in town for dinner, and all was well with our world. Till last night. A very rude man called us informing us that Booking.com had made an error in the booking and that he would not honor it because there is a two night minimum. He never offered any sort of solution to the dilemma, just flat out said we couldn't stay there, even after my husband explained our situation to him. Then he hung up abruptly, saying Booking.com was on the other line and he would call us back. After quite some time my husband called him back & he didn't even have the courtesy to pick up. He texted my husband back. What a sorry excuse for a business owner this POS is. At this point, of course, everything else in town was booked up. We were able to find very nice accommodations elsewhere, but now several businesses in Mt Dora will lose our money. Good job guy. read more

This was our first trip to Mt. Dora, Fl. We chose the Adora Inn owned by Arthur and John. Very nice, quiet, quaint. I love that many of the paintings were done by Arthur himself. The breakfast was great- and I am not a breakfast person. They are both chefs. The sheets were the softest I have ever had and same goes for the pillows. We were easily able to walk to the main streets from Adora Inn. They also have 2 gorgeous Egyptian breed of dog. Thank you for a relaxing getaway. read more

Recent life-altering circumstances left me with a need to get away--not too far away, just away. I stumbled upon the Adora Inn through a promotion on LivingSocial. I figured a night in a B&B would be just what the doctor ordered. Having stayed at other bed and breakfasts, I assumed I knew exactly what to expect--tacky yet charming wallpaper, modest meals, mousy owners. Adora Inn proved to be far different from what I expected. This charming inn is tucked away in the heart of downtown Mount Dora and is owned and operated by John and Arthur, two sweet and hardworking men with a knack for decor and incredible cooking. The home is over 100 years old, I believe, but the owners completely renovated it to couple modern decor with the original architecture. Upon arrival, I was greeted with an incredible lunch on the porch. (On this particular day it was homemade spinach lasagna with a mixed greens salad and dulce de leche profiteroles for dessert!) I was also given suggestions for which places to visit--which restaurants were the best, where to find the best wine, and even where I may want to avoid. My accommodations were comfortable and cozy--I stayed in the vanilla room, a third floor loft with the fluffiest pillows and a deluxe bathtub. Everything was clean, and I felt right at home. Needless to say I had no trouble sleeping! Coffee is served at 8 a.m., and breakfast at 9:00. (This morning it was a TexMex affair with a breakfast quesadilla, eggs, and fresh cut fruit!) John and Arthur sat and ate breakfast with me--the only guest on this particular occasion--and we chatted about everything under the sun, while their two pups lay in waiting, hoping that we would drop some scraps. Don't worry...they weren't trying to eat the food...again, this place is very clean! John and Arthur are very hospitable and seem to take great care to make sure their guests have the most wonderful and comfortable time--they want you to feel right at home--spoiled even! And that is exactly how I felt during my stay at Adora Inn. It's safe to say that the next time I need to get away, though not too far away, I'll be returning here! read more

Just returned home from a wonderful weekend in Mount Dora. I can't say enough about the lovely Adora Inn and the owners, John and Arthur. We were visiting for the "Light Up Mt Dora" festivities and our son's girlfriends birthday. We wanted to stay in a downtown location. We parked the car and didn't need it our entire stay. Everything within walking distance. My husband and I were in the Periwinkle room and my son in the Vanilla room. Both rooms comfortable and clean. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light. That never happens for me when I travel. We had requested in advance a cheese platter upon our arrival and we were served on the porch. It was a delicious tray served with garlicky crackers and grapes. It was a wonderful start. We also requested roses and creampuffs in our sons room for his girlfriend. John thoughtfully provided a card. They also with advance notice serve a 3 course candlelight dinner on the porch. John emailed me several options, all looked delicious. Arthur is a marvelous cook. Please treat yourself to dinner on the porch! Everyday we were served breakfast. One day it was Spanish Tortilla (omelette) the next delicious French toast. John and Arthur also very helpful with suggestions of places to go and restaurants to try. I am looking forward to my next visit. Please stay here, you will love it. read more

I absolutely enjoyed my stay. The house was quiet and adorable, the owners were attentive and so friendly. We really enjoyed the company of the other guests and the house is walking distance from the down town area. We stayed in the Treehouse loft and it was so cute, very clean, and roomy. We just stayed at the Adora Inn over the weekend, June 18th - 20th, 2021. It was absolutely delightful. Arthur and John are very approachable superb hosts, and the Inn is very clean and well taken care of. You will not be disappointed. We pre-ordered a gourmet dinner for Friday night and each of the 3 courses were excellent. John ,who does most of the cooking, is certainly a gourmet chef and not only was the dinner fantastic but each breakfast was top of the line. Even the coffee was good. John spent a little extra time talking with my wife and I making our stay very down to earth. It was nice to share a moment of our life with them both. Adora Inn is Adorable!! I can't thank John and Art enough for their wonderful hospitality. It was just a lovely weekend. The "Treehouse" was just perfect. It was quiet and cold and just the right fit for us. Breakfast each morning was delightful as was the conversation with John and Art. Both were so eager to talk about their quaint town and where we might go to find what each person was looking for that day, even including the name of the person to see or speak with in the establishment. This town radiates charm, friendly and timeless. People were walking their dogs and chatting and just seemed like we were part of their town. There was a little art theme going on the entire weekend so we felt right at home and in our element. My husband and I discovered this lovely B&B when a deal came up on Living Social. We are expecting a child in a few months, so we definitely needed some down time. As our first bed and breakfast, it was a wonderful experience. John and Arthur ( & their two adorable dogs) made us feel at home. As soon as you walk in the door to check in, they are very accommodating. In the morning, I was expecting an 'egg and bacon' type of breakfast, but we got a wonderful quiche with potatoes and apple pastries and wonderful conversation with both John and Arthur. The room itself was very quaint and charming, including a roman sized tub in the bathroom. I would love to stay in that room again! The Adora Inn is also very close to downtown and it's shops & resturants, as well as the Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse. We would definitely recommend the Adora Inn to others. read more

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this great B&B for several nights. John & Arthur have done a great job of updating an Arts & Crafts home into a very comfortable B&B close to town. The rooms are comfortable and had private baths which were a little small. But for an antique building, private baths were a surprize. Breakfast was spectacular. Not just bread and cereal, but true creations of eggs and pastries. We stayed for several days and every day was a new surprize. We look forward to staying there again when we are back in Mt. Dora. read more

My wife and I spent two nights at the Adora Inn. We had a wonderful time. The hosts at the Adora are charming and inviting. They serve wonderful gourmet breakfasts that are in tune to any high end restaurants. Better yet, I really enjoyed the conversation at breakfast. We sit together with other guests and the hosts both join us in our meal. They are great conversationalist and made the meal feel so comfortable and inviting. The home is so warm. I slept so well. The very best B&B I have ever stayed at - none come even close. The hosts, John and Arthur, provided wonderful accommodations. The breakfast was fresh, delicious - absolutely marvelous. They also joined us for breakfast and was great company adding wonderful conversation. My wife absolutely loved the claw foot tub although we found out that there is a room with a large soaking tub so we'll have to check that out next time. Only a couple of blocks from downtown so it was great to leave the car in their parking lot and just meander back and forth on foot. The pups were adorable and added so much to an at home feel. They don't have TV's but we managed with their free and super fast Wi-Fi and Netflix on our laptop. read more

Stayed one night. We were told to be at breakfast at 9AM so slept as late a possible. When we got up to bathe before breakfast we learned that we had no shampoo or soap. Already in our birthday suits we decided to use a small bar my wife keeps in here suitcase for aroma. This could have juste been an oversight, I suppose, but? The breakfast food was absolutely wonderful. The room was very nicely done though not terribly high end. The conversation with the other guests was pleasant (it's always a bit of a crap shoot when you dine with strangers) but I must say that I was a little taken aback when Arthur, one the the innkeeppers, dropped the "F" bomb several times during the breakfast chat. I realize that's done more and more these days, but still, when you're catering to the sort of folks who might be the target audience of such a place, like my wife and me, I don't think it's appropriate... certainly not necessary, and a bit distrubing to hear in such a setting. I found the prices very reasonable and everyother aspect of the stay was very nice. read more

This was my first time in Mt. Dora. Came out to the area for a co-worker's holiday party in a neighboring town. Arthur and John are the consummate hosts. If asked, they have stories and are willing to spend time talking over breakfast (that they prepare each morning for themselves and the guests). There is definitely a feeling of staying at someone's house, but a nicely decorated, spacious house of a friend, more than strangers that will be asking for your credit card info and the keys before you leave (though, you know, you kind of expect that you will have to give those things to them before you depart). The breakfast was fantastic, and coming from NYC, hearing some stories of the LES from Arthur's days (boy, things have changed all over NY, but definitely in the Lower East Side) there made me reminisce a bit. The rooms were spotlessly clean, well decorated, and comfortable. We stayed in the Treehouse, which I believe is a bit more modern, and definitely a room I would choose again. Though after seeing the others, you really can't make a bad choice here. They are all very nice. *One note, there is no TV, but there is free Wifi, and these days, that is all that really matters I would say. But if you need a TV, this could be an issue for you. Arthur and John were extremely helpful and courteous, offering ice buckets, and helping me when they heard me fumbling around in the kitchen. They even cleaned the room while we were out (not really something we expected, but they did a great job keeping everything in order). I will definitely stay here again, the guests that we met at the communal breakfast were nice both mornings, and overall, just a very nice stay. For Mt. Dora (after talking to some regular visitors and taking a look around), I would say this is the best place to stay in the city and one of the better bed and breakfasts I've been to (and in their price range, this is probably the best). read more

We were expecting your typical bacon and eggs breakfast and instead we got asparagus and zucchini quicke with homemade apple pastries the first morning and croissant french toast with skillet apples the second morning. What a gem! My boyfriend and I decided to take a last minute trip to Mt. Dora. He found the Adora inn and booked us to stay for two nights. I was a little hesitant after the last bed and breakfast experience we had. Oh my was I wrong! As soon as we entered we were warmly greeted by John and Arthur. We we were shown to our room which was called the Treehouse room. The decore was great! It is a wonderful mix of modern and true classic florida decor which highlighted it's historical roots with out the cheesy of 99.99% of B&B's. We had a wonderful night sleep and were super comfortable in our spacious and very clean room. The next morning we awoke to a delicious breakfast a mix fresh fruit, avocado smoothies and croissant french toast with a delicious orange syrup. The only one word to describe it is yummy! To top is of we had the pleasure of learning the history of the home and a little bit about the inn keepers/owners. Whom were wonderful hosts and down right delightful! No TVS here......Come with a good book and if you have to - a laptop. There's plenty of entertainment in town or you might make some yourself! First time in Mt Dora. My wife and I were spending a couple weekend nights over the weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our hosts welcomed us as we checked in early. Had a very comfortable and enjoyable conversation over breakfast with the two other guests and hosts John and Arthur. It is fun to travel and meet different folks of various backgrounds. Much better than a hotel. We always felt very comfortable in the spacious home. Breakfast food was tasty and delicious. Bed in the camel room was honestly amazing. I stayed at the Adora Inn after finding a Living Social deal, & decided to try it. It was wonderful from start to finish, clean and comfortable, with friendly hosts that made us feel at home. The food was delicious, from scones to fresh fruit & yogurt parfait, and frittata. The Inn and town of Mt. Dora had so much charm and character, perfect for a nice, little getaway. The inn is beautifully decorated, and did I mention the amazing coffee that was served? The restaurants we visited in town were delicious and had friendly service and were reasonably priced. My husband and I just returned home from a weekend in Mount Dora. We had a fabulous time!! We absolutely loved the Adora Inn, John and Arthur are wonderful. They were very nice, friendly and welcoming, easy to sit and chat with. Their 2 dogs are very sweet, we are dog lovers so we enjoyed meeting them. Breakfast each morning was delicious and they made an impromptu cheese, fruit, and cracker plate for us when I asked at the last minute. We enjoyed the platter in a nice sitting area in their front lawn with some wine we purchased from a local shop. We stayed in the Treehouse room, the room was perfect, very inviting, clean, the king bed is very comfortable. The Adora Inn is within walking distance of the heart of Mount Dora, we enjoyed walking everywhere, did some shopping, enjoyed nice meals. The Adora Inn is inviting, clean, nicely decorated, Arthur painted all of the paintings and is quite talented.
