The place is owned by Inez and her granddaughter, Shelby, who helps run the place. Both are so gracious and accommodating. The Inn is charming, clean and conveniently located by downtown and Rennigers (which is why we were there - for the Antique show). It's affordable and they were nice enough to work with us on their two-night required stay rule. (For festivals they require a two-night stay but we only came for one and since they weren't sold out, they didn't charge us the extra night). We loved our stay and highly recommend this bed & breakfast to others..really good people and we're happy to support their business. We'll be back to Mt Dora for another festival and definitely staying here.

But I thought it rude that she didn't offer to show me the house after I asked to see the rooms that were empty also a very strong smell of Canabus Coming through the Ac in our upstairs room . Late at nite and again early in the am 5 /6 ish . Informed the owner at breakfast .. she said she burns sage .... was not safe it was pot for sure . I was telling he so she knew people could smell it I wasn't complaining - just thought she should know . Also we sleep with a fan and I forgot mine so I went to the hall closest to see if there was one , instead of bothering her . I found one in the hall bath a clip on one on a towel rack so I didn't think she would mind so we used it . Well when we came back later that nite there was a note on the hall bathroom door stating rather rudely that this was a private bath for another room .i did see the private sign on the door but I knew no one else was staying in the main house but us ... so the bottom line is we loved the place But I don't think the owner is as laid back as she looks or thinks she is lol

Spoke with Margie from the beginning, who is the owner and manager of Heron Cay. Super close to town, and they partner with a fantastic transportation service (run by Allan) that will cart you to town as soon as you call (although if you prefer walking it's definitely within walking distance- about 1/2 mile out). Super comfy and homey, I loved how we felt like we were staying with a relative when we were there. We were in the Captain's Loft, which was in a private walk up and on the second floor. Beautiful view of the lake, comfortable bed, and I just couldn't get enough of the decor. Also had a full sized coffee pot with great coffee for use in the room (I love and drink a lot of coffee so this definitely gets bonus points!) Margie serves a beautiful breakfast with delicious home-made bread, fresh cut fruit, eggs, sausage and amazing bread pudding. Coffee and juice as well. She also has super cute Borzoi dogs and kitties that I fell in love with. Don't go to Mount Dora without visiting Margie at Heron Cay Lakeside, really made this the best visit to Mount Dora ever! We will never go back and not stay here!

They suggested packing small suitcases which was smart because the steps are steep and narrow. The house is definitely Victorian style. Lots of wallpaper, pictures and decorations. Our room was very nice with loads of room. We had a small refrigerator and a coffee maker in our room. We had views of the pool and the lake. We were disappointed in the breakfast both days. Fresh fruit and homemade bread were excellent. Unfortunately pumpkin spice bread was served both days. The main breakfast which was an egg dish both days came out so much later and we wanted to get moving, so that was unanticipated. The outside area could be really nice, but it needs a lot of work. The front porch was nice to sit and enjoy being outside.

He is the epitome of everything the owner of an establishment and more. So thank you! The room he put me in. Amazing. Number one for me is cleanliness. Definitely passed. Second, the bed. Perfect. I love it even more than my bed! It is truly divine. The bathroom was nice and big! I love the claw foot tub. I didn't get to experience it but I'm sure it's wonderful. The shower pressure was a little on the lower side. But hey, nothing is as close to perfection as this place. I highly recommend this lovely hotel.

I will say that the rooms do not have adequate sitting space nor is there library or private lounge area to conduct business. However the social life will not be without entertainment if they remain on campus. The bar was always well tended as was the restaurant. I saw the man by the name of Tru operating 24/7 during my long stay and solely because of his presence would I return. Thank you again.

The location was perfect to walk to all the restaurants and bars downtown. Parking was right behind the house and is locked in the evening for safety. It is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. One has access to the living and dinning room areas, which are beautiful and relaxing. The music was also extraordinary! 2)The treatment I received by the hosts, was just beyond expectations: very kind, accommodating, and I felt at home with dear friends. 3) The breakfast is simply unbelievable: gourmet, delicious beyond words and with an amazing assortment of different things (e.g., fresh juices, fresh fruit, French toasts, sausage and roasted apples, and a variety of beverages). 4) It is a blocks from downtown. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. We we're instructed to go directly to our site after receiving specific email instructions and didn't even talk to anybody the entire time we were here. It is very quiet. This is an equestrian facility that allows people to share in the beauty of their 400 acres. It is the perfect place to decompress. We would absolutely come back here. Full 50 amp hook up & sewer.

My RV…read morecampsite was a little worn down looking (it was tiled of all things and they were breaking apart and it made it super slippery when it rained, but that was not a huge problem, however, I needed to leave my site early and despite it being high season with plenty of demand, they refused to provide a refund when they could have easily re-rented it and still made money. And had they done so, I would have recommend that my friends and family camp there when visiting the area since they also have RVs. But because it just felt greedy and lazy, that they wouldn't work with me, I will not refer others there. Left a bad taste in my mouth. I recommend if you go and think you may need to leave early you just extend your stay week by week. Even in high season. Yes, you may have to move to another park but it's better than eating hundreds of dollars. There are plenty of other nice parks in the area too.

The park Manager Stacey and her excellent Staff are very knowledgeable in all aspects of managing and maintaining the community and are always willing to give you a hand as well if needed. The amenities are great with a pool , gym , pickle ball , shuffle board court , extra. There are so many other daily group activities to choose from as well. If you need a great place to live and like to have a good time either full time or part time this is it.

We were in a King Bed Studio Suite. - Clean, spacious facilities and room (with two exceptions... see notes); had ample counter space, storage, and a pretty large kitchenette - Couch folds out into a sofa bed! - Comfortable, soft pillows and bed; comforter could be thicker for winter TBH - Decent breakfast spread daily from 6 am-9 am - Free parking! And free wifi - Tons of outlets near both bedside tables, super convenient - Good water pressure. The shower has limited shelving, but enough for travel-sized toiletries - Helpful and friendly staff available 24/7 at the front desk NOTES - Water is... Slippery? I thought it might be water hardness in this area but nearby restaurants' and shops' restrooms don't have this issue. Don't know what's going on in their plumbing but soaps and shampoos don't rinse off well. It takes ages to fully wash out residue... - We couldn't figure out the heating unit. The fan seems to be blowing lightly even if you set it as "Off". - Random large splotch in the fridge from a past guest LOL. Do they even clean the fridge? We washed any kitchenware before using it... - Pull out couch was NOT CLEANED after the previous guest... There was an extra set of sheets in the closet fortunately, but that was an unpleasant surprise :| The only reason we found out was because our friend stayed with us for a night, and we tried to make it as clean as possible for him...

The room was decently sized too with the mini kitchen. Very convenient and that's why we like this chain. The gym was clean, I used the treadmill to get a short walk in. My issue tonight was that there was no internet connected to the television, so we were unable to use our streaming services. We kept getting errors that the internet was not available. I called the front desk and they said that they were having Internet issues. Basically nothing they can do! Fast forward to the next morning. It was barely 0900 and the maid was knocking the door (check out was 1100). I told her we would be leaving in about an hour and a half and she smiled and said ok. She had her cart parked right outside our door until we left. I get it... trying to turn over rooms to get their work done early but this made my daughter and I really uncomfortable.
