I am specifically commenting on afternoon tea here because I haven't stayed at the Bed and Breakfast, although I will say that it is beautiful. I have come several times to afternoon tea and bring multiple people because I absolutely LOVE it here! It's so lovely, quaint, and Delicious!!! Gwendolyn is wonderful and remembers me, which is impressive in itself. She makes everything fresh daily, including the scones that are to die for. Uhhh, I want one now. Anyway, they have an ample tea menu along with libations, and great food! There's no way you're leaving there hungry. Sooo incredibly delicious, great ambiance, and so worth it! Best tea room around, IMO! read more

The Grandview is a gem. We're so happy to have found it. The owner, Gwendolyn, is kind and professional. We were greeted with grace, a welcome beverage and all the instructions we needed to make our stay lovely. We were there during a very unusual freeze and were provided with extra blankets to ensure our comfort. The room was charming with a large, well appointed bath and huge closet. The bed was very comfortable. The entire inn was spotless. Every small detail was carefully thought out, including the bedside step stool. Breakfast was delicious and all special needs of the guests we dined with were carefully addressed. We will definitely return when we can make use of the lovely lanai and pool. The Grandview is within easy walking distance of everything in Mt. Dora. Parking was easy which was an added perk on a festival weekend. Thanks for a lovely stay! read more

8/11/23: We saw this inviting property on a day trip to Mt Dora prior to Covid. It's on a large fenced corner lot with huge trees, nice landscaping, large verandah and big in ground pool with paver deck. We knew we'd need to come back to stay a few days, but then Covid messed up a lot of our plans. Finally we were able to plan for a mid week getaway from Tampa. When we arrived Gwendolyn gave us a tour of the building, and showed us how to work the TV, where to get more bottled cold water, and tips for use of the keys, The room we reserved was just as sweet as the picture on their website. I loved the pretty little bathroom with its fluffy Turkish towels and frosted window providing great light for applying makeup. She asked if we'd like a beer or glass of wine. We explained that we'd probably prefer some wine later after dinner. She told us we'd have a carafe in the little frig near our room. She left 2 lovely wine glasses as well. Then she gave us a map of the area with restaurants, shops and attractions clearly marked, as well as comments about popular favorites. Despite unusually hot and humid days, even for Florida, the entire home was wonderfully cool. In spite of that, the large L shaped verandah with ceiling fans, cushioned rockers and more beckoned us to sit and relax awhile in between seeing sights. We kept busy enough that we didn't get to use the pool, but towels and sunscreen are supplied as well. In the evening the lighting on the verandah and around the pool deck creates a calm and peaceful mood. By the next day we were eager to tell Gwendolyn how valuable her tips had been and had a few more questions. Not only did she stop what she was doing to listen to our comments and answer questions, but she spent quite some time sharing local stories and getting to know us. Grandview is a beautiful and well cared for property in Mt Dora's historic district. Even in mid summer, finding parking in the business district can be challenging. If you can walk a half dozen blocks or so, its location is pretty ideal. Park just once and walk to just about anything on the map. Gwendolyn and Dennis have been running the Grandview B&B for 8 years and their level of hospitality is outstanding. The building has truly lovely furnishings and decor that made it easy to be comfortable. Coffee/tea are served each morning. After inquiring about any food allergies or aversions terrific farm to table breakfasts we had included fruit, eggs, bacon, quiche, pancakes, honey, French toast, sausage link, home fries and more. I usually eat very light in the morning but it looked, smelled and tasted SO good! I left the table stuffed with flavorful goodness. From the time we crossed the threshold until we departed, we were treated like long time friends. It takes very special people to create that kind of feeling but the owners of Grandview definitely do just that! read more

This is the best experience I've ever had at a B&B. I've been to many. The house and property is gorgeous, 1 block from downtown historic Mt. Dora. Gwendolyn and Dennis served us delicious food, a gourmet breakfast, social hour drinks and appetizers. They are such friendly people and we had a really delightful weekend. Oh, and the price was very reasonable! We will go back in the future! The area is just beautiful with so much to do around the lake and in town. read more

We enjoyed the most wonderful High Tea at Grandview! We have attended many teas, including one at Kensington Palace in London, but never enjoyed one more than our time here. My wife and I were recently celebrating out sixth wedding anniversary, and I needed to find a getaway close by due to our schedules. I saw the reviews for Grandview on Yelp, and we were blown away by the location, service and quality of the food. First of all, the building itself is an absolute treasure. Walking inside is to be taken back a hundred years. The house has an amazing history and great pains have obviously been taken to preserve this treasure. The rooms were cozy, the bathrooms updated and well furnished and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and organic. The pumpkin spice pancakes were amazing. Every morning we had our choice of fresh egg souffles, fruit parfaits and coffee and tea. Locals were in on Sunday morning and it's easy to see why. I wish we lived close enough to regularly come by. The host and hostess are genuinely amazing people who waited for us even though we were delayed and arrived outside the "window". Thank you, and we look forward to our next visit. read more

Our first time at a B and B. Did not know what to expect - it exceeded any expectations we could've had. Gwendolyn and Dennis are warm friendly, perfect hosts. they were so personal and relaxed. Our room was large, comfortable spotlessly clean and very nicely furnished. Big and nice enough to stay a long long time. The evening happy hour at the beautiful pool was very relaxing. Gwendolyn prepared some nice treats to go along with a selection of wine and beer. Breakfast was equally well done. In fact Gwendolyn kept asking us if she could make anything more. Our family enjoyed the most beautiful stay at this gorgeous place We stayed in the windmill and it is spectacular ! The interior is done in juniper wood which lends a great fragrance as well as antique look. Patti and Gordie are the most welcoming and gracious hosts We enjoyed refreshments by the pool and sat on the large porch in a rocking chair during a sun shower last night that helped us relax . Our favorite bed and breakfast! Gwendolyn and Dennis are always so accommodating. I love the clean rooms and bath products! The food is always phenomenal and you definitely get your money's worth when staying at Grandview. Farm to table breakfast is offered as well as a social hour featuring coffee, tea, drinks, and a snack. This was our third time visiting, and it is wonderful to stay here every time. Mount Dora is a quiet and peaceful town. I recommend watching the sunset at the lighthouse. Grandview is about a .3 mile walk to shops and restaurants. read more

The staff are so kind and accommodating, no request is too much. They are there to ensure you have the best time. I truly appreciate how they go to make their guests comfortable. One of the best B&B's that DH and I have visited. Patti & Gordi - the inn owners have done such an amazing job with the place. Their house is updated, clean, and the breakfast they serve is fabulous. They were very flexible with our late arrival, and ensured that we got checked in on time. We especially liked the salt water pool in the back, and the chocolate chip cookies. They also have a wine social each evening, where they provide you with your choice of wine, and a lovely appetizer platter including cheeses, fruits, and meats. It's such a nice touch, and a great way to meet them as well as the other guests staying at the inn. Even though DH and I were significantly younger than everyone there, we felt right at home! We will definitely be back, and will be surely measuring each future B&B we stay at to this one! A true gem! read more

We stayed at the Grandview for a birthday Luau, and the whole experience was amazing. The rooms are wonderful, beautifully kept, and our bathroom would have fitted eight people in the shower. I have stayed in a couple of bed and breakfasts before, and I have never felt so comfortable. The staff is so warm they put you at ease immediately. Gwendolyn is very knowledgeable about Mt. Dora. If you ask her about anything, she is on the phone in a second getting the most updated info for you. For breakfast they ask you what you would like, rather than give you something you don't eat. The food is delicious. The herbs come right from the garden. Everything is so relaxed here. Lake Dora is a very short walk away. The main street is 2 blocks away. It is so quiet here. The location was perfect. We stayed in the windmill cottage. It is very cozy and the ac works great. Parking was plentiful. It was clean,cozy,and warm. If you're going to read only one review, I humbly ask you to read and consider mine. And if you are going to stay in the beautiful and quaint little gem of a town known as Mount Dora, I urge you to plan your trip solely around the availability of the Grandview. I mean it. I surprised my husband by booking two nights at this bed and breakfast, and we both agree it is something we will remember and cherish forever. For a couple with younger kids, we were honestly looking for a romantic and relaxed weekend getaway, and we got nothing but that at the Grandview. I won't spoil all of the wonderful tidbits and details you will meet with when you get there, but for starters, The Windmill Cottage is absolutely special in every way. The whole house is, really. The breakfast was outstanding. (Boy, do we miss it.) And the heart of this home, is Gwendolyn, herself. She knew exactly how to make us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Knowing it was our 5 year wedding anniversary, she went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable, gave us the best suggestions on where to eat and what to do, and she puts so much love in everything she does. Social hour was a delight. And we both left yearning to come back again and again. As Tampa residents, a 2 hour drive left us feeling like we were a world away, and the town was as charming as can be. I would honestly recommend the Grandview to absolutely anyone and everyone and would prepare to have your heart stolen. We will be back. read more

What a great place the Grandview Bed and Breakfast is !! Gwendolyn and Dennis are such wonderful people - they run the Inn - and they can't do enough for you. Gwendolyn (and sometimes Dennis) make the MOST WONDERFUL breakfasts that you can imagine. The recipes and creative and taste so very good. I couldn't imagine a nicer place to stay !! We stayed in the Windmill room - so cute, so super clean. In the evening there's wine/beer/soda and homemade snacks. What could be nicer ?? My husband and I returned to Grandview for our anniversary. We've visited many times in the past and were anxious to see what the new owners had done. Staying at the Grandview had always been pleasant but Patty and Gordi improved on what was already wonderful. We had a great time sharing stories over wine in the evenings and then heading out for dinner just a short walk into town. We come to Mt Dora to ride our bikes and experience the town. There's nothing better than lounging in the pool after riding our bikes to the famous sugarloaf mountain and back. Dinner at the Goblin Market never disappoints. We were so excited to find a mountain bike trail nearby although we chose to run it. What great fun. It allowed us to indulge in the great breakfast completely guilt free. I left the Grandview feeling like I had made great friends and couldn't wait to come back and visit again. We will be back to visit our new friends Patty and Gordi in our wonderful home away from home. read more
