And I shared my family reason for the visit and the next day when she saw us return she asked about our day. So above and beyond! The breakfast and staff there were also amazing! Checking on guests and making sure everything was fresh and stocked. And of course it was new, fresh and clean. My one recommendation to corporate is the ability to virtually tip cleaning staff is amazing but there should be something left in the room like some hotels do from staff with the name of who cleaned before we arrived. They are who made sure it was immaculate for our short visit.

So I came back to the hotel at around 2am and the front doors were closed with a security sign that…read morestates for security use the reader on the left where there was none then on the right was a reader and did not activate with my room key. There was a phone there to call the front desk which I did and the doors opened. The woman who was at the front counter was very rude and unprofessional. I engaged in conversation with her about my experience at the front door and asked her if it was me or the signs did not make sense. As I was talking to her and being that I use hand jesters when talking she states don't point your finger at me. I was like I never pointed my finger at her but was just animated with hand jesters in talking with her but she just came out rude in the way she she told me as a guest at the hotel not to point a finger at her which I would never do and I was not in anyway accusing her of anything but literally having a conversation with her. She got up in arms like I was pointing a finger at her and I told her I did not in anyway point a finger directly at her personally. Well let me tell you she insisted that I did and that did not sit well with me because I am not that kind of person. I don't know if she was angry because I woke her out of her nap or what ever but it was in no way to treat a paying guest of the hotel. Please council this night attendant on how to engage with guests as I found that very unprofessional way to interact with a guest who was just having conversation. Again I was taken aback when she said don't point your finger at me when I was just engaging in conversation with her I'm not an accusatory manner but for her to accuse me of something I did not do perturbed and in sensed me to a point that I just had to walk away and stew in anger as the way I was accused.

As hour from MCO, the location geographically was ideal. The area is a little seedy despite being right off the highway (we pass through here a lot and often stop in the area for coffee or to feed the wife's fries addiction. The moment we drove into the parking lot we breathed a collective sigh of relief. It immediately felt safer. The parking lot is well lit. Despite some bonehead parking (especially this one AW from Georgia essentially occupying 4 spaces with his pickup truck, we found some parking right near the front. We entered the lobby and it got even better. Angie at the front desk was bright and cheery to match the lobby. There was a particularly significant lit up lobby (in a very positive way). The lobby is purposefully decorated in a modern/-ish way with lots of room to sit, plug in (charge), or unplug. The style is not my taste but I don't ding them for not matching my style - it looked clean, spacious, and bright. Back to Angie, she ticked all the hotel checkin boxes, even at 1am. She handed me my DL and credit card back instead of obnoxiously putting them on the counter for me to peel off. She was friendly, recognized my status (and didn't sound phony), asked me which floor I wanted, and on and on. Yet it was quick/efficient. She handed me my key with a small piece of paper with an amenity agenda - a list of things (laundry, breakfast, pool, exercise room, etc) with the hours. Nice touch, HIE WW. We joked about the oddball WiFi password and we went off to sleep. The room is spacious, the price reasonable, and everything from the entry to the room appeared clean as a whistle. Other employees we encountered were friendly and everyone smiled. We're we in Niceville? I went back to tell Angie we appreciated the great checkin experience and then I snuck a cup of coffee (it was hot at 1am-ish). Breakfast was standard HIE fare heavy carb and non-veg) but appeared fresh. The dining room has lots of space. The coffee was hot - again! I hold a grudge against IHG for 2 big reasons despite spending thousands and thousands with them over the years but I have to call a rock a rock - this is a nice, clean, midrange hotel and a fresh HIE, complete with Angie at reception.

The rooms are pretty basic and could use an update but you can't beat the location and view. They do have a restaurant downstairs but they don't serve breakfast. There's a pool, hot tub and exercise room on site. The front desk staff are super nice and helpful. I liked all the text updates they send. The front desk even called us to check on how we were doing mid week. My only complaint is that the walls are extremely thin. Luckily it seems that most the patrons seem to sleep early.

There isn't a complimentary breakfast, which would greatly improve the hotel amenities. The hotel has very friendly & accommodating staff. The hotel's lobby, restaurant and pool/hot tub are all very nice. However, the rooms are SO outdated! Especially disappointing for the nightly $$$. Even the suites weren't updated. They appear to have an old design and don't think they have ever been updated! Our room didn't have any clothes dressers, so we lived out of our suitcases. The bathroom had a nice large mirror and the shower water pressure was wonderful with a double headed shower-head. However, the bathroom didn't have a bathtub or a bathroom fan, so the bathroom gets extremely foggy when taking a shower. The magnifying mirror in the bathroom has a very low wattage bulb, so you can't see very well when using it. In summary, the hotel is in a good location, nice pool & hot tub, good Caribbean food in the restaurant and friendly staff. For the cons, outdated rooms without dressers, no bathroom fan, & no breakfast served onsite.
