Jim checked us in and got us parked, and daily we saw friendly folks cleaning, on golf carts and in the office. We stopped at Peck's for dinner on our way to the campground. We got there when it was dark around 8:30. We had a back in spot and couldn't see much in the dark. The campground wasn't that crowded. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and we only stayed one night. And what a night it was! Lots of thunder and lightning and Freckles went crazy. In the morning they offered a complimentary breakfast. Dave got us a bagel with cream cheese and nice hot coffee. They had cereal, milk, juice etc. That was a nice surprise! They do have picnic tables that are on asphalt type material like your rig Handful of sites with concrete areas that have furniture and fire pits A few sites that have a fenced in area attached with a shade tarp for your dog that also has patio furniture Sites don't have enough room for an additional car like we had and there wasn't really any overflow parking except maybe five spots towards front by clubhouse and main road. Well maintained grounds. They pick your trash up for you if you put it outside each morning. Absolutely no shade. No trees. Nice clubhouse and pool area. They serve free breakfast everyday from 830-10. Coffee, juice, cereal, oatmeal and bagels. They also have a little store inside. Toiletries. Fire starting stuff. Etc with some cool souvenirs. General camp store supplies. The bathrooms/showers were clean and huge. They're hot inside. Appears to have no AC . There are six Bathrooms. They're all unisex. The laundry was super clean and nice. It has AC. Takes Apple Pay or cc. 3.50 to wash 3.50 to dry. 4 of each machine. 30 min wash cycle 45 min Dry cycle Bath house and laundry are keypads and a code is given to you at check in. Free WiFi that was actually decent. Small dog area. Has two chairs and a shade tarp. Could use some ant spray. Outside our rig in the grass area we had some small ant piles. So I think spraying would be nice. We were pull through site 404. They have a few tent sites that sit on the ponds (a protected wetland preserve) which may or may not have gators. That would be a concern to me if I tent camped. They all have triangle tarps for shade. Overall I'd give this Koa 4.5 stars Having a small cement area to step out on would be nice. No onsite camp host for after hours. If emergency told via paperwork to call 911 Also lack of lighting throughout camp Military discount

And we chose this place because of its proximity to the Withlacoochee state trail, which if you don't know, is a 75 mile long rails to trails bike path. We love it and we get to it by crossing the street and riding about half mile on a sandy trail that takes you to the paved path. No need to put the bikes on the car and drive to a trail. But enough about the bike trail. Sandy Oaks is very quiet and very clean. They encourage you to wash your car and camper as they want to keep the park looking good. Most parks I've been in don't let you wash your car. Bath and showers are clean and well maintained and the laundry has 10 washers and dryers. They also have group activities and gatherings. We find it comfortable and well situated. But be aware that some of the spots are quite small. Not like a state campground.

This was 9 weeks in advance of our Feb 18, 2024 arrival, planned so we could be close to a family member was scheduled to have surgery mid-Feb. Over Christmas we learned the date/location for surgery had changed. We immediately called to cancel and because we were at Day 55 (5 days into their 30 - 60 day window) for a full refund, they kept 50% of what we paid plus $40 admin fee. They charged us $279 out of the $355 we paid. They only had our reservation for 12 days!!!! We called and talked with Jodee, the manager, who was unwaivering and adamant those were the rules. We pointed out their website stated "50% of your security deposit plus $40 administrative fee" would be charged, not the entire amount of the 7-day stay. (Wow, we made a HUGE mistake paying 100% up front.) Our fellow RV-friends agreed that a refund of $279 for holding a reservation for 12 days was unreasonable and not consistent with their stated cancellation policy. They called and spoke with two different staff members who told them the 50% applied to 1st night's stay, not the entire 7 nights. e.g., cancellation charges would be $36 plus $40 admin totaling $76. Jodee charged us $279! Beware! this is not a nice "friendly and helpful" RV Park. Be sure to double check EVERYTHING before booking with them so you're not "ripped off" like we feel we were.
