We stayed here last year for a few days and were bowled over. The location is so peaceful! It's immersed in nature enough to be refreshing without feeling like you're a contestant on Survivor. The Bird House itself is absolutely charming, with so much attention to detail in comfort, cleanliness, and convenience. It felt like we were honored guests of a benevolent friend. One of the nice touches was it was filled with art and information about the history of the area, about Florida and the Native American peoples and culture. The entire experience was refreshing and restorative. We loved it so much and have reminisced so frequently over the months since then that we booked it again for our upcoming anniversary. I've had several positive VRBO and AirBnB experiences, but this one far surpassed them all. If you go, don't miss out on the Front Porch Restaurant. It's a family owned gem with amazing food and service. We rented a boat and explored the Withlacoochee and Rainbow River, did a little fishing then later kayaked on both as well. So much to do and experience... there aren't words sufficient to describe the feeling of kayaking over the distinct line of the where the Withlacoochee and Rainbow River meet but never co-mingle, bright blue and deep brown waters side by side.
