I have come several times to afternoon tea and bring multiple people because I absolutely LOVE it here! It's so lovely, quaint, and Delicious!!! Gwendolyn is wonderful and remembers me, which is impressive in itself. She makes everything fresh daily, including the scones that are to die for. Uhhh, I want one now. Anyway, they have an ample tea menu along with libations, and great food! There's no way you're leaving there hungry. Sooo incredibly delicious, great ambiance, and so worth it! Best tea room around, IMO!

We were greeted with grace, a welcome beverage and all the instructions we needed to make our stay lovely. We were there during a very unusual freeze and were provided with extra blankets to ensure our comfort. The room was charming with a large, well appointed bath and huge closet. Breakfast was delicious and all special needs of the guests we dined with were carefully addressed. We will definitely return when we can make use of the lovely lanai and pool. The Grandview is within easy walking distance of everything in Mt. Dora. Parking was easy which was an added perk on a festival weekend. Thanks for a lovely stay!

It is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. One has access to the living and dinning room areas, which are beautiful and relaxing. The music was also extraordinary! 2)The treatment I received by the hosts, was just beyond expectations: very kind, accommodating, and I felt at home with dear friends. 3) The breakfast is simply unbelievable: gourmet, delicious beyond words and with an amazing assortment of different things (e.g., fresh juices, fresh fruit, French toasts, sausage and roasted apples, and a variety of beverages). 4) It is a blocks from downtown. Simply a fantastic experience and just what I needed! Noteworthy detailsThere are two older dogs.

The place is owned by Inez and her granddaughter, Shelby, who helps run the place. Both are so gracious and accommodating. The Inn is charming, clean and conveniently located by downtown and Rennigers (which is why we were there - for the Antique show). It's affordable and they were nice enough to work with us on their two-night required stay rule. (For festivals they require a two-night stay but we only came for one and since they weren't sold out, they didn't charge us the extra night). We loved our stay and highly recommend this bed & breakfast to others..really good people and we're happy to support their business. We'll be back to Mt Dora for another festival and definitely staying here.

But I thought it rude that she didn't offer to show me the house after I asked to see the rooms that were empty also a very strong smell of Canabus Coming through the Ac in our upstairs room . Late at nite and again early in the am 5 /6 ish . Informed the owner at breakfast .. she said she burns sage .... was not safe it was pot for sure . I was telling he so she knew people could smell it I wasn't complaining - just thought she should know . Also we sleep with a fan and I forgot mine so I went to the hall closest to see if there was one , instead of bothering her . I found one in the hall bath a clip on one on a towel rack so I didn't think she would mind so we used it . Well when we came back later that nite there was a note on the hall bathroom door stating rather rudely that this was a private bath for another room .i did see the private sign on the door but I knew no one else was staying in the main house but us ... so the bottom line is we loved the place But I don't think the owner is as laid back as she looks or thinks she is lol

I would recommend this place to anyone staying in mount Dora and would not hesitate to stay here again. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Also, we were celebrating an anniversary and they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine which was a very nice treat! Highly recommend this historic Inn to anyone and will be back in the future!

Calling the property an Inn or Bed-and-Breakfast is a stretch. Despite photos of a six-chair dining table and plated food, no meals are served on-site. Instead, breakfast consists of two vouchers for a sandwich shop two blocks away that does not offer typical breakfast items such as eggs, pancakes, or waffles. The undersized window air conditioner in our small room whirred away 24/7, but it was necessary to also employ the ceiling fan in order to be cool enough to sleep. The drawn shades at each window serve a double purpose, keep out the light yes, but also the hide that the windows haven't seen a squeegee this decade. The pedestal sink (in our room) had the only mirror, so my wife stood up to put on her makeup. I waited my turn to wash hands and face. The toilet and a shower stall shared a separate small room. I think the last time I saw one ply toilet paper was in Boy Scout camp.

Spoke with Margie from the beginning, who is the owner and manager of Heron Cay. Super close to town, and they partner with a fantastic transportation service (run by Allan) that will cart you to town as soon as you call (although if you prefer walking it's definitely within walking distance- about 1/2 mile out). Super comfy and homey, I loved how we felt like we were staying with a relative when we were there. We were in the Captain's Loft, which was in a private walk up and on the second floor. Beautiful view of the lake, comfortable bed, and I just couldn't get enough of the decor. Also had a full sized coffee pot with great coffee for use in the room (I love and drink a lot of coffee so this definitely gets bonus points!) Margie serves a beautiful breakfast with delicious home-made bread, fresh cut fruit, eggs, sausage and amazing bread pudding. Coffee and juice as well. She also has super cute Borzoi dogs and kitties that I fell in love with. Don't go to Mount Dora without visiting Margie at Heron Cay Lakeside, really made this the best visit to Mount Dora ever! We will never go back and not stay here!

They suggested packing small suitcases which was smart because the steps are steep and narrow. The house is definitely Victorian style. Lots of wallpaper, pictures and decorations. Fresh fruit and homemade bread were excellent. Unfortunately pumpkin spice bread was served both days. The main breakfast which was an egg dish both days came out so much later and we wanted to get moving, so that was unanticipated. The outside area could be really nice, but it needs a lot of work. The front porch was nice to sit and enjoy being outside.
