We spent one night at this Hampton Inn. It's located fairly close to several restaurants. Parking is only available on either side of the building, but there are side entries (not so easy to see). Hampton is trying to convert people away from using physical card keys to using a phone to enter your room. It didn't work for my husband. Our king room was adequate, with night stands on either side of the bed, with outlets available. The room included fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, plus large flat screen TV. There is vending and an ice machine on each of the 3 floors. The bathroom was equipped with a shallow tub and shower combination. There were plenty of towels, but they were on the stiff side. A hair dryer and box of tissues were well hidden in the vanity drawers. There were no towel racks, but there was a small hook near the tub. Oddly, there were 5 grab bars in our bathroom. The bathroom had been cosmetically renovated, especially around the vanity. Breakfast was so-so. Hot items included oatmeal, sausage, eggs, and potatoes. There were also mini-scones, bagels, a waffle maker, and accouterments. Seating is limited, and is essentially the lobby area. The upholstered surfaces are rather dirty. Given what we paid for our stay, we expected better overall. read more

I almost gave them 3 stars because they didn't do maid service during my 3 night stay but they did give me a partial refund for a night. I put the do not disturb sign on the door for about 20 minutes while I was in the shower and the result was no maid service for the whole stay. Good: TV, Breakfast was good, location, lots of parking, quiet, courteous staff, quiet ac, comfy bed, microwave in room, tub in the room. Not so good: A lot of things were worn looking throughout the hotel, toilet had black mildew on the inside of the bowl, Door to the room didn't close by itself without slamming it, The door also needed painting badly, Fitness center is extremely small, Bathroom sink faucet was loose. read more

This is one of the most disgusting and overpriced / undervalued hotels I've stayed in in over 5,000 stayed hotel nights. We arrived and there was nobody at the reception. She showed up eventually and wasn't rude but didn't give us any standard info (internet access, breakfast hours, checkout time, etc). Move to our journey to the room...the hallways had a strange odor. It wasn't overwhelming but it was there. Inside the room, the door was stronger but still not killer...dust bunnies...4 of them and that was without looking. Hair on the shower walls (clearly not ours). Lotion bottle - empty. Hair conditioner bottle - empty. The mattresses was sagging. The young lady taking care of breakfast was sweet and worked really hard. Checkout was uneventful and girl was nice. And this place was expensive, especially compared to the hotels in the area. Very, very disappointed. read more

It is an older Hampton & shows its age in the lobby furniture for sure. But the rooms were very clean & our room attendant was pleasant & provided excellent service! (Jessica or Jennifer? I have been a loyal Hilton member for 17 years. For my wedding I reserved several rooms for guest that want to attend the wedding. We reserved the rooms months in advance without knowing who might actually stay at the hotel. With the wedding fast approaching on April 4th, I contacted the hotel directly and asked them to cancel any rooms that I had reserved and were linked to my credit card. The staff assured me they had. A few days go by and I am still receiving notification, so I contacted the hotel again and they once again assured me everything was cancelled. A few more days go by and I receive a bill for over $2K! I contacted the hotel manager Victoria and she said that I was beyond my cancellation time and there was nothing she could do even though her employees had previously mentioned they had cancelled "everything". The time to tell me they could not cancel "everything" was during my original phone call and not after the fact. This is a con job. During my travels I have had to cancel hotels dozens of time due to cancelled flights, cancelled meetings, etc. and Hilton had never once given me any issues. I gave these folks plenty of time to put these rooms back into service. Some wedding present this was. I will not be staying at a Hilton property again and will instruct my sales team and service techs to not use Hilton. It is worth mentioning corporate Hilton said there was nothing they could do also. read more

Charming, old and quaint. Above all relaxing view of Lake Dora. Well kept. Built in 1883 the rooms are updated as possible without losing its charm of that era. A lot of fascinating history. Beautifully kept pool and bar. Boat rides available at their dock. This was our third visit. Even our teenager enjoyed it. Great restaurant in the main building. Lovely breakfast on the porch. Thirty minute drive from the theme parks. read more

We needed to book a last minute hotel while in town for the crafter festival and this place, while not SUPER close downtown, came in clutch. Upsides: clean hotel, clean room, clean smell, cool air. Microwave, fridge, pool, fitness room, and free breakfast. It was a good experience. Downside: it's about an 8-10 minute Uber to downtown and if you plan in being downtown late, it can be hard to get back. The town gets pretty quiet then and we had to wait 20+ minutes if not potentially more for an Uber to pick us up. Would visit again! Safe and clean. read more

Mixed feelings about this place. Employees: Some employees were so great - pleasant and helpful. The young woman at the front desk in the mornings and the former marine gave short answers and didn't seem to want to help or even say, "have a nice day". Other front desk people were very nice. Cleaners were very nice. Location: The rooms were clean and comfortable, and quiet (our room was on the third floor). Hotel is close to stores, restaurants, and main roads. Pool area is small. Amenities: Room comes with breakfast which is just ok. Very few fresh fruit options. Had yogurt for a few days but not consistently. Coffee/tea/hot chocolate was always available which was nice. This is a busy hotel that is doing a decent job it's just a few people who work there who don't belong in the hospitality industry in client facing roles. read more

Meh. Mount Dora needs another major hotel brand... luckily there was a sign right next to this place for a Holiday Inn Express coming soon! I chose this Hampton Inn because it was really the only option. I was coming into town for a race in downtown Mount Dora. It was very convenient, only about 5 minutes away. But there was nothing special. The room was very basic and boring. You could tell there was some wear and tear in the rooms.. A few of the USB ports didn't work. The bed frame was very squeaky. The air conditioner made a clicking noise when the fan was on which kept me awake. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom was so loose the roll would fall out when I used it.. The night light in the bathroom was a cheap plug-in and didn't always work. Random, but annoying: The safety bar in the shower was in a very awkward spot. I think it was too close to the front of the shower/shower head and it was vertical. Especially If you were a larger person you would be bumping into it when trying to shower. Also there were no tissues in my room upon check-in, I had to ask at the front desk. Even though I stayed on a Friday night, I think the rate I paid ($147) should have been slightly lower. I guess the biggest perk that you pay for is the free hot breakfast but it's really not that great. Ive had better. Small trays of scrambled eggs, pork sausage patties and potatoes. Make your own waffles. Assortment of muffins and bagels (not pre-packaged), cereal, Nutrigrain bars. There is a small pool out back. All in all staying here was fine but there were a handful of little things that bothered me. Next time I would choose another hotel brand if possible. read more

My wife and I stayed at this HAMPTON INN for about one month as we were in the middle of a major move. It's the longest time I have ever stayed in a hotel. We had to stay here because our household goods were in transit and this was a convenient place to be and fairly close to where we would be living. The front desk staff was really friendly and Rickey and Robert were always helpful and courteous! I wish I could remember the other person we dealt with but she was nice too. The customer service was excellent. Due to the pandemic certain services were curtailed but every morning they provided a breakfast bag with an apple, water, and a breakfast pastry. The housekeepers were very friendly and accommodating whenever we needed something. A month is a long time to stay in a place but there was adequate parking and a clean laundry room. We stayed on the third floor of the hotel which is the top floor and it was very quiet up there and we were never disturbed except one time out of a month. The Inn is on a busy highway but I almost never heard traffic or even people in adjoining rooms. Another big plus is they are a no smoking facility. I believe It's a two hundred and fifty dollar fine if someone is caught smoking. One thing, is that a lot of customers did not wear their masks in the middle of a pandemic but that's Florida!! The hotel staff was very friendly, and the room was extremely clean. They were also offering a good selection of breakfast in the mornings, which I really appreciated. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because of the ridiculously noisy guests and screaming children on my floor every day after 9pm until almost midnight. I understand that the guests behavior can't be controlled by the hotel staff, but there's no way they didn't hear what was going on. Someone should have stepped in at least after 10pm to remind them of quiet hours. Overall, I would stay again. read more

I have a property in Mt Dora but this trip it was rented. I stayed at the Hampton INN Mt Dora, and could not believe the cost compared to the quality. It is an old hotel that has not been renovated at least the rooms have not. I needed a room, and was tired but couldn't believe the cost for that room. They asked me how my stay was and I let them know and they said well you received a discount as a Florida resident. We usually charge ( $30 more) and I said, you mean you charge the same rate as the Lakeside Inn which is DT Mt Dora and an Historic Inn. They just shrugged. Looking at the other positive reviews, either they are being asked to write this or they have no experience staying at nice hotels. Get it while you can Hampton Inn as there is more housing coming, and this is why my Golf Rental rents out so well!! read more

Rarely do I go to a hotel and am made to feel like they are actually happy to have us there. Here from the moment I called the front desk to see if they MIGHT have a last minute cancellation (which they did) to the second we walked out they really made us feel welcome and like family. I spoke to Barry (who I found out later is the GM) and he was as accomodating as anything. He was actually worried that I would mind 2 Queens instead of one King bed. I really didn't care as long as we got A room, any room because we knew they were booked solid. Seems like there are plenty of people achin' to hit that Annual Bike Festival! He even knocked off a buck or two! On their last room! So when we check in they are super friendly and accomodating. Guess what? It had one king and our bikes fit perfectly with room to spare. The lobby is nice, clean and bright. Front desk service is top notch. Rooms open, clean, new and nice. PLUS breakfast is included! Breakfast was so complete I couldn't believe my luck: Oatmeal Cereal FRUIT SALAD Muffins/croissants/pastries waffles eggs sausage seasoned potatoes 3 different types of coffee 5 different types of hot tea (it was hard for me to choose! Earl Grey please!) 4 different types of juice I mean really? With that kind of service and breakfast why stay anywhere else?? 6 stars in my opinion! read more

Is it that we are so used to the lousy south florida service? that when a smile, polite and helpful demeanor and just good old fashioned good service are displayed we are sooooo pleasantly surprised. Everything in this hotel is top notch, from the reservations process, to the check in, room service to the rooms themselves, overall cleanliness and comfort. And to top everything off, I received a call from the owner of the hotel today to follow up and make sure our stay was to out complete satisfaction. The experience in this place has been nothing less than outstanding!! They stole money from my bank account. I had an EXTRA $150 charge in my bank account which I assumed was the deposit for incidentals. I called the location and they said that they charged me for smoking in the room. We are all non smokers and the room never smelt like smoke because if did, I would have complained as I have severe asthma. I have stayed at the Hampton inn multiple times but this was the worst experience. My wife was furious so she called as well and the front desk lady told her "we're doing you a favor. We could have charged you $250 or whatever we wanted to charge you" I AM FURIOUS WE STAYED FOR ONE NIGHT!!!! I wish you the best of luck if you stay here, the management is a scam. read more

Decent Comfortable beds but not great. Lots of pillows. Nicely redecorated older hotel. But the prices are way to high!!! And every year are more. But in 2020 they upgraded and the atmosphere is much nice. Smells good in 2/2020 When you walk in the front door it smells terrible! They advertised a hot tub and that is why we went there!!! They did not!!! Closed it years ago. Wifi, they offer it free but it barely works. It is very slow and I can't get much work done unfortunately. read more

You can tell this is a well-managed hotel from top to bottom. Everything about our stay was perfect. The rooms are spotless, the breakfast area is kept clean and stocked and the pool area is neat and clean. The employees clearly have a sense of pride in the work they do and it shows. Not a newer Hampton but friendly front desk staff. Also actually scored a cookie. The downsides are all housekeeping issues. The chair in my room had multiple stains. There is a dirt In every corner including on the side of the refrigerator sleeve. Also the hotel has a bit of an unpleasant smell. There was a long black hair on my covers which I was presuming (hopefully) is the housekeepers. Time for a remodel of the property it's showing its age and wear and tear. read more

This hotel is lovely the front desk people (rickie) are pleasant and the breakfast phenomenal but we went as a group (rodriguez family ) and were offered a discount. The nightly rate is 139.00 and we're charged 129.00. It was such a disappointing management call. We flew from many far off states and the management stated that because we only booked 5 rooms that was all that he could offer as a discount. We had many more but not under that name. I would think twice before I recommend this hotel to any one looking for group lodging read more

Each year I choose to return to the Hampton Inn as my favorite spot from which to enjoy Mt. Dora. They have updated and lovely rooms with down comforters, etc. The newly remodeled lobby is a charming gathering place for breakfast or meeting new friends after a long day of shopping. For a chain hotel, this does just fine. Rooms have been updated recently (though I just discovered that the charger plug by the bedside only works when the light is on - how strange is that?). Beds are comfortable, on the firm side, with an ample variety of pillows and pretty good linens. TV is larger than one usually finds, and the by-now standard accessories - well-lit desk, microwave, coffee maker, fridge, etc are conveniently arranged. One cute addition is two wheeled hassocks nested under the large luggage table. Bathroom is attractive - minimalist style, good shower, with clever slide-out trays for hairdryer and tissue. The room is clean, the HVAC responsive - though alas, so noisy that I gave up trying to keep the temperature comfortably cool. Breakfast is standard - oatmeal, waffles, "eggs," potatoes, breakfast meat (which varies), cereals, juice, pastries, bagels, and what may the world's slowest toaster. Coffee and tea available 24-7, though if you're a tea drinker beware, the "hot" water fades after about 10 am. As I mentioned, the rooms have been updated recently, and during our stay (10-2016) the outside is getting a facelift, which means you have workers on the walls (and sometimes outside your windows) from 9 am to 5 pm, and occasionally may find flakes of yuk in the air as you walk to your car (which I've assumed are paint bits from where they're scraping off the old to make space for the new.). The outdoor renovations make the pool unattractive due to the noise and the afore-mentioned yuk. This is one of several picky points which account for the three, rather than a four-star rating: (1) The towels, which have not been updated along with the rest of the establishment - old, thread bare, hard, out of sync with the tone their current pricing represents; (2) Those cute little hassocks tip you off if you perch on the edge rather than sitting firmly in the middle; (3) No tea bags with the in -room beverage service; (4) Those flakes of yuk, which I did not appreciate in my hair and on my car. This room was booked through expedia with a guaranteed price for four nights. When we checked in the price was $20.00 per night more. After speaking to desk manager we were told we needed to speak to Expedia which we did that night. Expedia told us that it they received the money from the Hotel so we needed to resolve problem with hotel, which we again spoke to the desk manger with no resolution. At this point we decided to call Hilton directly to report problem. On the fourth day we got back to hotel and could not get into our room. Went down to desk manager and was told we only had booked for three nights which was not correct. We had the confirmation letter and showed the clerk. She fixed the problem and gave us the correct price which was $20.00 less. It was our understanding that she would correct the other nights. In the morning when we went to check out we were told that we had to pay the extra $20.00 per night. We tried to talk to manager and found no resolution to this issue. When I got home two days later I checked my credit card and saw it had been compromised. I had only used it at that hotel during that trip. I contacted the other three ladies and told them what had happened to my credit card. A few days later two of the ladies contacted me and said their Credit cards had also been compromised and used locally. I immediately contacted Hilton Honors and filed a complaint. read more

Was just like most Hampton Inns, clean rooms, good service. Breakfast every morning, cookies every night. The pool/hot tub were working and clean, as was the pool area. The work out room was not great, had a bike and a treadmill and was small and hot, but I used it anyway. The hotel is close to Downtown Mount Dora, but not walking close without going on 441 with no sidewalk, but it took only minutes to drive. Where do i begin... First, you can hear Every sound through the walls. The loud and Rude Staff banging into the walls. If you complain they are even louder. I woke up early one morning and caught a housekeeper staying in the room next to me. She banged on the wall till 4am, because i complained about their Rude behavior.
