    getting our after-breakfast Reindeer Sausage
    Arnel E.

When in Bergen, you have to visit this little hotdog stand. They have a very wide range of sausages and toppings available but we were only two hours past a full bellied breakfast, so we decided to stick to the basics. We of course had their signature dish: The Reindeer sausage topped with lingonberry sauce, mustard, and crispy onions. The hype around this place is greatly deserved! The food is fresh, warm and delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. Dining Style: It is a walk-up kiosk with no seating, restrooms, or table service. So be prepared to eat in the rainy Norwegian weather or walk back to your hotel or accommodation. If you cannot choose - I'd recommend a the reindeer hot dog with traditional toppings. With crazy working hours from 11am to 3-4 am, you can definitely grab a snack anytime of the day or night. Oh, and the hot dogs cost much more than three kroner like they originally did, back in 1946.

This place seemingly always had a line - which is typically a good sign. Even in the drizzling rain we stood for a short time to grab a quick lunch on the go. While this is a simple meal - a hot dog/sausage - it can really hit the spot. They have some really unique options... our group each sampled a different. The one I tried had a "hot" chili sauce on it. I would DEFINITELY recommend this with the sausage that has cheese. The crispy onions add a wonderful touch to the fun flavors.

Our first time to Norway so I did some research ahead of time. Trekroneren was at the top of my "quick cheap eats" list &, truthfully, I wish we'd gone here on day 1 instead of the funky wharf stands. Naturally, we had the reindeer sausage with lingonberry, mustard and crispy onions. It was possibly the favorite for our group on our Bergen stay. I love that they temp check. We stopped elsewhere and were served cold food- ew. Is it mind-blowingly unique? No, it's essentially sausage dogs but with some out of the norm protein & toppings. The beauty of it is that it's familiar, traditional & something new all at once, at a decent price & it's done RIGHT. The line moves fast, feel free to jump in it!

We always saw a queue whenever we passed the area and this was a recommendation from our guide as well. I got the basic dog with mustard and ketchup and my husband got the reindeer dog which he really enjoyed. The line was worth it - we really enjoyed our dog here. Also this was one of the affordable places we ate at in Bergen.

Stumbled upon Trekroneren as we were wandering around the wharf and can confirm that the rumors are true. Easily the best hot dog in all of Norway. Significantly better than Syverkiosken in Oslo in size, meat options and toppings. We got the lamb sausage but walked away with some regret about not trying the reindeer. The fried onions topping somehow class up the humble hot dog. Recommend!

It's really just a hotdog stand, but a good one at that. You get to try different meat than the mysterious pink sludge they serve in the USA. I asked for a reindeer and to dress it "the way it should be" which was with the lingonberry sauce and mustard. Satisfying and made me want more... but honestly, it's a a just a hotdog stand. If you want a gourmet experience, book a nice restaurant. But for a quick tourist snack, this place is amazing, and the sausages are great quality.

When in Bergen, one must try some local food so naturally, Reindeer sausage at this famous hot dog stand is a must. It does feel like other sausages - couldn't taste the Reindeer bit.

really really good sausages! we got the reindeer sausage. it comes topped with juniper berries and fried onions. delicious! though I think I'd ask for a little less juniper next time. also true the large cheese dog. large is an understatement (see pic) they have a wide array of options and I could have honestly tried them all if time allowed for it. it's pricey, but what isn't in Norway?

As one of the most recommended food spots in Bergen, I have to say that it does live up to the hype! It's a small hotdog stand near the city center of Bergen, and when I went the line wasn't too long. They have a pretty extensive menu of hotdog meats to choose from ranging from Reindeer to Lamb so you can decide how adventurous you want to be. They also have a good variety of toppings that you can add to your hotdog as well. I decided to get the Kabanossi hotdog with some hot sauce on it as that was what the lady working there recommended. The size of the hotdog is great, as it's definitely filling and they don't skimp out on it. I also really enjoyed the quality of the sausage, and it is definitely up there in terms of hotdogs that I have ever tried. With the hot sauce and crispy onions added onto it, it's a burst of flavor in your mouth. This is definitely a must-eat place if you ever visit Bergen!

We passed by this spot on the way to a couple of excursion meeting points. Seemed to get busier as the day progressed and we did see some long lines. We ended up visiting later around 9:30 on a Sunday evening-luckily no queue. A stand with an abundant amount of Hot Dog/Sausage choices. Quality Sausages are made especially for this spot by a local Butcher. I wasn't sure which one to get (about 15 varieties) so the kind Gentleman steered me to the Wild Game sausage. He suggested the toppings-Chili sauce, mustard and crispy onions. Delicious! Not an inexpensive Hot Dog at about $10 USD but well worth it. Helpful and friendly people behind the counter. They've been around for 75 years and were recommended as the only Hot Dog stand you should visit in Bergen. We agree!

Here is the outside so you don't get the wrong place.

Great service and fast if the line is long, WAIT. We were here on Norway's Constitution day. The line was very long. We asked a couple who were just finishing up their hot dogs if the line was worth the hype and their reply was YES, they are the best! We were not disappointed. We had the reindeer hotdog and the cheese hotdog; both are excellent.

Family greatly enjoyed the famous Reindeer sausage hot dog. Fast service. No seating / like a food stand not a sit down restaurant.

I was walking around with my parents after eating a bit at the fish market. We saw a bunch of people walking by with hot dogs and I started to follow where they came from. I hadn't heard of this place but after seeing that they offered reindeer sausage and how many people were buying it I had to try it. I was lucky that there wasn't a wait when I got there. The reindeer sausage is great! I think the lingonberry pairs really well with it. I wasn't sure what I was expecting since I hadn't had reindeer before but I'm glad I saw crowds of people with it.

Remember on Sunday a bar or restaurant is the only spot you will get alcohol so don't think you can grab some beer at the Kiwi or Rema and drink at home/hotel. I got the herring with lingonberries which sounded weird to me but after the first bite I was sold!! I cleaned the whole plate with ease because it was so good. The prices are affordable compared to other spots in Norway so assure you go downstairs because the menu and prices are different.

I love the menu, it carries so many Nordic traditional dishes, such as the whale steak, reindeer steak, Atlantic wolffish (catfish), deer stew, mussels, etc. We ordered the grilled reindeer steak and the pan fried wolffish. Both are beautifully plated, good portions and delicious with the right amount of seasoning. The Nordic cuisine likes to use local fruits to add sweetness to the sauce. I took out 1star because t hey are pricy. For entrees in the price range of 40-60 is fine, but when the desserts are priced at 20+, they lose the marginal satisfaction. Great location, great food.
