I called ahead to schedule service on my electric bike. I explained it was an e-bike and the issue I was having. No one mentioned that they only service certain brands or systems. So I loaded the bike, drove to the shop, unloaded, and only then did someone step outside, take a quick look, and tell me they don't work on my model. I don't mind if a shop has limits on what they service, but that should be communicated clearly over the phone. It would have saved time, effort, and frustration. A simple question about the make and model during my call would have prevented the whole situation. Friendly enough staff, but the communication gap matters. If you have an e-bike, make sure you confirm whether they'll service your specific brand before making the trip. read more

It's a fairly big shop with not a lot of selection of anything new, lot of last seasons bikes and and gear. I walked around for about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was in the store and that was only because I was looking at expensive items close to the front door. I usually try to purchase one thing from an LBS, but not at this one. read more

Look, they are not horrible, but...either I am getting a downgrade in service because I am not a top-end rider...or I just do not want to speculate further. (Literally, all I am willing to say is this is a fairly testosterone-fueled sport)... I have purchased spare tubes here a few times. They are frequently out of stock on the popular sizes in the more "economical" price range. Meh. If they are not wrapped up in side conversations, you may get attentive service. So...what follows is a summary of two different experiences, one in service and one in sales: Service: Took my old baby in because I knew she needed some help. After an assessment, I was told I needed a new chain, new cassette, and new cables along with a tune-up. Done. Handlebar wraps were part of the deal, so we fast-forward to the day I went to pick up my Trek. I went at lunch from work. There was only one employee in the service department, and he was engaged in a conversation with three other people. (I seriously cannot tell who works her and who does not). Dude acknowledges me, takes my money, brings out my bike, and says nothing else, including "thank you." I mention this because I felt like I was rushed out. Perhaps, for good reason. Once I got home, I noticed the main bolt in the headset had bee replaced (not part of the work we talked about, but okay...) and it was crooked. The cap was also bent & twisted. The hood on the left brake/shifter was completely ripped. No one said, "hey, this is in bad condition & it needs to be replaced," or "this is what happened when we removed the old wraps." I knew the hood was going, and I would have been prepared for that sort of feedback, but dude just dropped my bike on the side of the counter & walked away. What do I think happened? I think whoever took the old wrap off simply went "bull-in-a-china-shop" on the hood. I returned over a month later to get them to look at the bolt. A bent bolt in a critical spot is discomforting, and the Service manager took about twenty minutes to fix it. There was something wrong with the star nut inside the tube, yada-yada. It sounded like someone forced it back in place and mis-threaded everything. He got defensive about the hood. My position is simply this...you are a high end bike shop & you don't say anything about a torn hood? He said he would order a new one & call me when it arrived. I never received a call (by the way, I was completely fine paying for this part & he knew that). Sales: So I bought a bike at a pawn shop because the guys in the shop led me to believe they took trade-ins. I told them I wanted to trade in two bikes for an upgraded, new one. Looking at the Trek, the following statement was made: "That is what we would do on a trade in." So when I was ready, I brought the brand new bike (which was too small for me) from the pawn shop in and was told, "we never do trade ins. We can't get rid of the used bikes we have outside." (So, how do you have used bikes if you don't take trade ins?)... They young, bearded man then took me around to show me some bike options. I told him I wanted a road bike, and he immediately asked me if I had tried a hybrid. After explaining what my bike expectations were, he walked me over to the hybrids. "I'm not interested," I said. "But they are a better deal," he replied. "Not interested," I said again ...and he continued to tell me why a hybrid is what I wanted. So, he completely did not listen, nor did he give any indication of caring about what I wanted. I finally had to walk away from the hybrids and back to the road bikes. He made no effort to sell me on these or their features & benefits. I suppose he was looking down his nose because I told him up front I am not a competitive cyclist. Very disappointed!! Blatantly lied to us. My husband asked specifically for a bike for a man weighing 350 lbs. The salesman showed us several bikes, all supposedly with a perfect weight limit for him. WRONG! We purchased a bike, took it home, rode it, heard strange rubbing noises. Researched on the internet. Weight limit was only 300 lbs! Come to find out, Bicycles, Inc does not carry any bikes that qualify. Obviously they will sell you anything. And lie as they do it. SHAME! read more

I have to be honest. I have had nothing but jerks help me at several bicycle shops in the DFW area. I've been riding bicycles for as long as I can remember and I think many bicycle shops must search for guys who've been fired from other places for their poor customer service. Bicycles Inc,. has always been a bit different. The HEB store also has nice employees from my personal experience, but this review is about the Arlington shop. I recently went to this location to purchase a new MTB. I had done quite a bit of research and was considering buying online, but knew I would receive no service from any shop if I did so. The covid pandemic forced us to shop differently and I understand that. My boys and I had to stand outside in line while waiting for assistance. The service guy was helping 2 other customers when he came to ask what I needed. I said "I'm here to buy a bike!" The guy was not in the mood for small talk and I understood. Lots of customers pulling him in several directions. So, I began to tell him what I was looking for and he pointed at a bike and walked off. When he returned I told him I didn't feel like he wanted my business very badly and offered to leave. He apologized, explained that he was trying to help the customers he'd been with before I came and that he just couldn't spent the time necessary to fit me for the bike while juggling so many people. I told him I was happy to wait if that was an option. He agreed. The guy walked me around the back of the store, fitted me for the bike as best he could given the Corona business restrictions, and let me test drive the bikes he had. Long story short, I am a ridiculous customer and I know it. I have high expectations of people in sales/customer service. If I am going to pay bicycle shop prices in order to have the service, I want to know that the service is going to be good. This shop earned my business! Do not come here. They are really greedy. Charged me 10 dollars for a cardboard box they were just gonna throw away. First of all, I have been a loyal customer to this bike shop since I moved to Texas and have bought multiple products from them. I went in there today to see if they had any extra cardboard boxes they were getting rid of that I could use to pack my bike in. I have worked at a bike shop before and I know they just throw these boxes out anyway. The guy at the front said they have some in the back and brought one out to me. I expected that since they just throw them out anyway that they would just give it away. The guy actually CHARGED me 10 dollars for it! The box wasn't even in good condition and had two holes. They LITERALLY sold me trash. I would've just refused if I wasn't in a hurry to pack for my flight. But I am NEVER coming back to bicycle Inc again. Picked up my Trek Silque S4 from layaway on Aug 2, 2018. LOVE this bike and the gentlemen at this location are always so nice, funny, and give plain explanations without making me feel like a dur de dur. LOL! Chris had gone over the bike when initially put in layaway early July. He also fitted the seat for me and went over my positioning with my reach. Cool and funny guy! Gordon spent a lot of time with me and my friend over "everything bikes"! I learned even more basics that I probably should have by now! I cannot complain about this location at all. I came in to the store looking for a very specific bike (2015 Specialized Allez Sport). I was greeted right away by Gordon and he was eager to show me the bike. The first thing he said was that this particular bike was the value in the shop (amount of bike for price), and he was absolutely right. While he could've easily tried to up-sale me on a more expensive bike, he took this time to explain to me why this bike was better for me than any of the other bikes in the store. Gordon spent nearly 30 minutes talking with me about bike fit and gave me some great tips to help me with the transition from hybrid to road bike. He never came across as pushy and was understanding when I told him there were a couple bikes at other shops I needed to look at before making my final decision. In the end, the reason I came back to this particular Bicycles Inc. location was because of the personalized customer service and the bicycle selection. I had a wonderful experience here. Gordon was phenomenal with the customer service and helping educate myself on very many aspects of bikes that I didn't have a clue about. Even got me to really set my focus on upgrading because it was something in the back of my head to begin with. There is an older comment that states something about if you don't spend a lot of money or have a high-end bike, they don't even help you. To didn't experience this is the least bit, and I walked in with a bike that is worth $75 and 2 sizes too small for me. He took the time to show me around and explain the differences in the bikes that are different prices points and point out 5 strong points to look for when buying a bike. He knew I wasn't able to buy quite yet, but still let me test ride one with no questions asked, he even offered. I also expressed to him that I was in need of a helmet, which he got right on, because they are big on safety there. Found something in my price range, and fitted me for the correct size. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size in stock, but he promptly looked in the back, and called another store that was a short drive down the road, and had them set one aside for me and told me who to speak to. Service like this makes me ok with spending $50 or $100 more than an online price of a bike, because it's the business relationship that was built in my experience today, and I didn't even buy anything. He took the time to a explain everything, and build the trust to make me WANT to buy from that store specifically, and be ok with bringing my purchase back for routine maintenance, and accessories. I hope you read all of this and know that your small business support is greatly appreciated, and you experience will be wonderful as well. Don't go here they rip you off and they hold your bike hostage. The old lady at the front counter is rude she refused to address me when I walked in it took their new hire to say "hello, can I help you". Plus she caused him to get fired on top of everything because she lied on him. They told me they would give me a quote for my fold up bike but it took them over two weeks (needed a tune up plus new tires). I called checking on it and they hadn't even looked at it, I had to go up there after two weeks to see what is the price. Then he quoted me an outrageous price for new brakes and new tires...that's more then the bike smdh REALLY!!! I didn't ask you to fix my car because that's a repair I pay for my car. He found the most expensive parts when I just wanted to go on short rides for exercise. STOP TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CUSTOMERS!!! If anything you should have charged less after keeping my bike a long time. Once again, they are rude the nicest person there was the new hire and the old hag got him in trouble. read more

The Techs and sales people are just about as helpful as it gets. I have bought 2 bikes from them. I asked lots of questions and they answered them in language that even I could understand. Their bikes are expensive but you're paying for all the knowledge they offer and you're guaranteed to walk out with a bike designed to fit your needs. My son hadn't been able to ride his new bike in a long time. We bought it pre-assembled from Target, but the front brakes popped off a few weeks after purchase. Finally, I decided to take it to the bike shop. My son rolled his bike into the service area and Tyler took it and put it on his bench right away. Typer fixed the brakes and then double-checked everything else to be sure my son was safe on his new bike. He had to tighten several things up. Listen, this is a great bike shop. You can tell Tyler really cares about his customers. I'm extremely thankful for what he did today and wondering why I did not bring my son's bike in sooner. They act like they don't like customers...especially black ones...My friend walked in and with a mask, she may appear to be caucasian, she was asked in and greeted very nicely, she went around the caution tape in order to social distance, however when I walked in, and did the same, I was greeted by the question,"What do you need?" It wasn't said nicely or in a welcoming manner, it was just rude and weird. The hubby brought his new bike in and as soon as we talked to someone, he said its the wrong size, the tires are whack and so on. I just felt like were we being talked down to. Also when we walked in, not a single person said hi. There was two guys doing jack and one helping customers. Also for prices on bikes, they were really expensive unless ones on sale. This place is fantastic! There are actually four in the metroplex (all leaning toward the Fort Worth side). The staff is very helpful. And the selection is unbeatable. They even have a fair number or recumbents on sale. Just be sure to not bring a skinny wallet with you. I thought I was just coming in for a helmet and I got a little carried away, not that I regret a single purchase, just forewarning you all. Bikes Inc. also have group rides throughout the week for multi-level riders. It's a great way to socialize and meet other cyclist not to mention stay in shape. read more

BEWARE if you are a new rider!! My husband and I were both sold incorrect sized bikes. I went through months of adjustments and spending tons of money to try to make an incorrect sized bike work.The manager tried to justify and assure us novices that we were on the correct size bikes in order to "cover up" his salesmans' error. But with all the adjustments, fixing, my problems were not solved. I insisted on a smaller size frame after four moths and that made a huge difference!! My husband went to another shop and traded for a smaller size bike as well. These guys are suppose to be the experienced/trained staff. I did not find that to be true at this particular location. My advice is to shop around multiple shops before buying a bike at this location. The staff is very nice and is disappointing that training/knowledge is very poor! read more

These guys are great!!! Instantly took me in and found EVERYTHING I needed to get my Drift Bike on the road!!! And it was quite an experience to say! Wasnt quite sure if they were going to be able to get me going as in on a drift trike and no one has had what I needed to get on the road and these guys pulled it off!!! 100% my home shop for anything and everything I need now! First- I would buy the "bicycle book for dummies". I'm stubborn, curious and I'm highly selective. Fun customer right? I went in thinking I wanted a hybrid. David really listened to the details and determined a 29er mountain bike would be best for me, because I didn't want to restricted on trails. Back to highly selective- I didn't like any of the colors, so had my bike ordered. Richard helped place my order. This took longer then my 1 week ETA date, due to it out stock but Richard empathized and stayed on top of it. Works for me! When it arrived, I saw another "shiny" bike and couldn't chose. Richard has the knowledge and the patience of a saint. I test rode a males bike and it was extremely important to him that the fit was perfect. I came in at least 2-3 times just working with him, no pressure and super patient. I had a million questions- about helmets, accessories, the first bike, the second bike, comparing the two, test riding several times. I even learned about sit bones and how seats are sized. I made the decision to start MTB on my own, with no friends who ride and Richard educated me on the local trails, and even networking opportunities to ride with others. Lastly, after a few nights of sleep to make my final decision - I chose my bike and finalized with Kelly. He was equally as patient with my million questions. Showing me how to take the tire off, had me try, got me started on some tools, and quick run down on patching tires, tire pressure and tubes. Oh and bonus- they fed me pork rinds with hot sauce cause all the test riding made me hungry. These guys are awesome. What started off as a lonely and intimidating new hobby on my own, I feel more confident, and extremely happy with my purchase. I look forward to learning more when I visit for additional gear and tune ups! read more

Eddie Holsopple, you need to make some big changes fast because LOTS of folks in the cycling community are talking about Trek Bikes and are sharing stories about how their bike was screwed up and Trek Bikes didn't care to fixit. I took our 2 bikes in for their annual tuneup. It was my 1st time in since Trek took over Bikes Inc. Basically, after spending over $600 I got back 2 bikes that were so screwed up we couldn't ride them! My wife's bike had been specially setup for her as she has back issues. Literally everything you could adjust had been changed, including seat height and handlebar stem angle! Her brake levers were pointing straight up and were unusable. My road bike, which I had paid to have fitted to me, was similarly screwed up. I had to pump my shift levers from 3 to 10 times to get it to shift gears! The shifting was fine when I took it in and had never done this before. It also made a loud click/pop when pedaling hard and the rear brakes were dragging! I called the shop and they were not interested in fixing the screwup - not their fault. So, I took the bikes to Ray-Jay's and they fixed them for $20. My bottom bracket had not been reassembled correctly, the shifter had not been reassembled correctly, the crank arm bolts were loose, and the shift cable assembly was adjusted incorrectly. read more

We visited the store just to see what they had available as my wife and I were looking to purchase our first road bikes. The sales staff was excellent and spent two hours with us on our first visit simply test riding the various bikes in our price range. They also arranged to transfer the two bikes we were interested in from other stores. On our next visit, Eddie and his staff spent three to three and a half hours with us helping to pick out accessories and double check the initial fittings to make sure the bikes were sized correctly. The even installed our computers, seat packs and re-wrapped the handlebar tape while we waited. I can't say enough good things about the high level of customer service and attention we received from the staff at Bicycles Inc. - Arlington. We have already recommended the store to our friends and are looking forward to participating in some of the upcoming century rides. read more

I've been coming to Bicycles, Inc since this location was on Bowen. The new shop (well, not so new anymore!) is much larger. I just bought a new Trek Pro Caliber mountain bike and Kelly did a great job assisting me to be sure I got the proper bike. And not just the right bike for the riding I do but the right size. I thought I'd need the smallest size with the 27.5" wheels and he suggested I try the next size up with the 29" wheels instead. I was a little confused by that but he said I'd be better off on it. He ordered one to be sent to the store since the only one in stock was definitely too large for me. A few days later they call to say the bike is there and ready for a test ride. Kelly was absolutely right about the fit and the stand over height on the 29'er was actually a bit lower than the 27.5. The bike fit like a glove with nothing more than a slight seat height adjustment and moving it a touch forward. He spent the time to make sure I was happy with the fit, the feel and the quality of the bike before I ended up buying it. In the past, I've had them build me some wheels for an older Cannondale road bike using Mavic Open Pro rims laced to the Shimano hubs my bike came with and they did a terrific job on those. They also built up a frame for me using the parts from a bike that was broken when another rider ran into me head on out at River Legacy. Very reasonable price to swap all the parts and use new cables. My son still rides that bike 5 years later and its only needed minimal adjustments. I guess the only negative thing is sometimes it takes a little time to talk to someone there because they are with another customer, but once they are finished, you get their undivided attention. read more

I visited the store to purchase a training wheels. The staff who assisted me is not very helpful and there is no customer service at all. He gave me the training wheels and I asked if I can fit it first to my daughters bike and he refused. He said I need to pay it first and bring home and if its not suitable then i need to go back and return instead. I brought the bike and showed it to him and he told me that I can do it outside and when I asked if i can borrow one of their wrench so i can use it for a while and he said NO. I will say that they indeeed did quality work on my bike and maybe this was an isolated incident but the guy I dealt with was very Cocky and talking down to me when all I did was ask for help. Most of the guys in there working are great but some just rub me the wrong way I probably will take my business elsewhere due to this experience. Again most of the guys are nice but all I did was ask for help taking my pedals off when I just got the bike serviced there a day before and this guy lottery flexed his bicep in front of me then asked me to race I was like what All I said was I'm a runner I'm not a bike mechanic and I needed help I wasn't even cocky at all if anything I admired my lack of experience. My family has been using this bike shop for about 15 years now and I think from now on we will all take our buisness to another shop. read more
