Service 2/5 Quality 2/5 Turnaround 3/5 Value 1/5 Atmosphere 4/5 I have been shooting 35mm for years, always visited the same great developer in Brooklyn NYC (Photoreal). Now that I'm in Honolulu, I tried out Treehouse in hopes to build a good relationship with a new photo service. I dropped off 2 rolls to be developed (cost about $45 for hi-resolution). Was told I should have them emailed in about 4 days. When receiving the email, I was surprised to see this strange white marks on two of the photos. What was more surprising was nobody reached out to mention there was a blemish or damage. When I went to pick up negatives, I pulled them out and asked the clerk if she knew why that had happened. She told me it was a scratch, and it 'could have occurred in camera or during the development process'. This is something that has never happened the five years I've been shooting on this camera. I'm really surprised that with the price points, and a first time customer looking to create a long term relationship, nothing was done to make up for this. I later tried Rainbow, friendly staff, prices were better, turnaround was 1.5 hours! Scan quality is good (not as high res as Treehouse.. but better than damaged!)

Treehouse is an awesome spot to go to for all of your film or camera needs. I haven't used a point and shoot camera in a few years, but after stopping by, I'm itching to start back up! There are a ton of cameras for you to choose from that best fits your style, price range etc.; and film that is fairly priced. Not only do they have camera gear, but they also have their own brand of apparel that offers shirts and hats, books, and other merch to check out. The staff was awesome! They are knowledgeable about all things film/camera related, and they're more than willing to help however they can. Had an awesome time checking out all the things the shop had to offer, and I'll definitely be back again!

Love this place! I go here to get all my film and to get my rolls developed. Turn around time is always super fast. They said the lab was backed up and it'll take 3-5 days but it took less than 2 days for me which was a pleasant surprise, and the rolls always turn out well :) they send the digitized picture through drop box and email which is sooo convenient and they let you keep your negatives if you pick them up within a month. the cashier's are always super friendly and knowledgeable about their stock and always give me a good recommendation for new rolls! Shout out to Anabelle for being awesome and super helpful. Some of the used vintage camera's are a little pricy, but they're maintenanced and cleaned up which saves me a lot of trouble so it's chill, and they have a good selection of new packaged cameras, I picked up a half frame Kodak Ektar which is my go-to point and shoot, and a Pentax K1000 as a treat! Some film scans from their lab that I loved posted below

Finally pulled the trigger and bought my first film camera. I went for a point and shoot: Olyumpus mju i. The staff is very nice and helpful. The shop is filled with so many diff film cams. They even have disposable ones and plastic body re-loadable ones if you're not ready to commit to a more expensive one. You can also get your film developed here which is convenient, and the turn around is around 2-3 business days. Follow them on IG to see the latest film cams that come in. They sell out fast! So keep your eyes peeled. Can't wait to come back!

My friend and I came here so they could buy their first point and shoot film camera, and we didn't get their name but the employee working today (Sunday morning) was incredibly kind and helpful (and is the reason we're rating this place 5 stars lol)! They answered all of my friend's questions, offered recommendations, and ensured my friend's purchase aligned with their budget and what they were looking for. The employee was even kind enough to help load the first roll of film into the camera. There were many options to choose from, so would highly recommend coming here for anyone looking into getting a film camera!

A haul of some of my favorite films. They've got a plethora of different films for 35mm and medium format!

Treehouse is my go to one stop shop for all things film photography here in Hawaii! Located on the second floor of Salt at Kakaako, you'll always have a pleasant visit to this shop! The staff is very helpful and they're all very passionate about film photography! Knowledgeable about the different types of films and cameras, they have everything you need to get started here on your film journey! They carry a ton of films, offer printing and developing services and just about anything film related!

Two thumbs up for the customer service!! I came here to buy some film for an old Polaroid one step camera that I found in my house. I did a little research prior to what film I needed buy but I wanted a little reassurance before I purchased any. The man at the counter was able to assist me by using a test cartridge to make sure my camera could be turned on (which it did)!! I was very pleased & bought some film for my camera without any hesitation after that!!

    Treehouse on the top.

I walked into this little shop to check it out. There was only one guy there, younger. He greeted my daughter and I and we continued to walk around the store. He didn't seem like he was busy because we were the only customers there. But I felt like he should've asked me if I needed anything or if I was looking for something particular. I had asked him how much the Nikons were and all he said was that they ranged from $300-$900. And that was it. Didn't ask me if I wanted to check it out. Questions you should ask a customer, what have you. I'm looking into film and know nothing about it and thought I could get some information on it but I felt like I had a bad first impression. He should've made us feel more welcomed.

My grandfathers camera. A family heirloom that will be working for years to come thanks to Treehouse and their staff.

I love how bright and lively it is in the inside, there's about 3-4 photo booths , and you are able to choose and pick your layout, backdrops, design, how many photos you'd like/want printed, customize to your liking , as well with filters and other edits you'd like! They also have a few high angle photo booths which I thought was pretty neat as well. It's pretty simple and straight forward as well , you follow the QR code , pay as you go , and boom the magic happens (not sure if all booths have cash and card as an option) but ours did! And it's super convenient to those who rather pay in cash or use card at their convenience. The photo strips were about $12, I think that's a steal and fairly cheap in my opinion. Considering the ridiculous amount you'd have to pay at other photo booths at other places. They do have props but it's a pretty limited selection, but maybe they'll add more in the future! And they also have tables where you can sit down to do extra decorating to your photos (with markers, and other cute lil add ons). We didn't get a chance to check the tables out completely since they were all full, but it looked like a fun time lol. We went a little late in the day and I was surprised how busy they were even then, but to be fair I get it! After the fun's done , you are able to scan a QR code to digitally save a photo copy of your Photo Booth session and even a video of it all. Such a nice touch to a fun lifetime experience! 10/10 recommend! I'll definitely be back for more! And to add to my photo booth collection lol!

At first, the older gentleman was very helpful assisting us with our question regarding pricing. We asked for a price sheet, unfortunately they didn't have one for clients or customers, just a sheet to show you over the counter. I asked, "may I take a picture of your pricing so I can have to review later?" He agreed, until his female co-worker overheard and took the sheet from him and rudely said, NO! They verbally tussled a bit in front of us and the lady got her way and did not allow for me to take a picture of the pricing of prints and sizes. She went on to say how expensive she is, repeating that several times rudely. She demeanor overall was combativeness and unhelpful. She made you not want to give her any business at all. This was typical of my previous experiences at Kaimuki Camera. Their lack of customer service, attitude, unfriendly disposition is off-putting to say the least. They do seem to have a decent printing operation, but I'm not willing to give this company my business based on this experience and all my other encounter with their staff. I would not recommend.

Despite having a scheduled time, we weren't seen until close to 4:00 PM. There was no clear organization in the line appointments and walk-ins were mixed together, and walk-ins were being taken before those with reservations. When our appointment time had already passed and we stepped forward to ask when we would be seen, we were criticized by others in line, which was uncomfortable and completely avoidable with proper line management. The most disappointing part was the actual interaction with Santa. There was little engagement with the kids, they weren't asked what they wanted for Christmas. This was especially frustrating since the reservation form specifically asks what your child wants for Christmas. What's the point of including that information if it's never used? We made an appointment expecting a smoother process and a more magical, personalized experience for our kids. Unfortunately, neither happened. Definitely not what we expected, especially during the holidays.
