I needed a strap for my son's Micro Four Thirds camera, and the staff was fantastic--helping set it up and get everything properly strapped on so we were ready to watch whales breach. (They didn't breach that day, unfortunately.) Still, I was happy the store had everything I was drooling over, from camera backpacks to the new Sigma 20-200mm lens. read more

Tony and his crew are awesome, friendly, and knowledgeable. And Calvin, this one is for you! Both times I came here you were such a nice person and patient with me lol! Thank you so much for your kindness, I needed it that day. People don't realize how much a simple conversation can change someone's entire day so, I hope this review helps get you the recognition you deserve! They have a wide array of cameras. From DSLR, mirrorless, point and shoot, whatever you need go ahead and check them out! They sell items at MSRP so check them out for your camera needs. 100% *SKIP* any Best Buy when it comes to cameras/lenses/accessories, these guys are where it's at instead! Bang for your buck, y'all! Very personable and helpful. Have gotten a Tenba camera backpack and Wandrd sling here. I go for sensor cleanings for my digital rangefinder and mirrorless cameras. I haven't explored the full range of offerings although they off a nice selection of fujifilm and Sony products. Rental program appears to be popular. This is not for film photographers. read more

Support local! Tony, Terrance, and the crew are always awesome and have a lot of knowledge in not just cameras but also gear. It's nice to get local professionals who give their 2 cents about a product. You can tell they value their customers as they are also quick to respond to messages. They carry a lot of the major things that you can't find at most stores here in Hawaii. I bought about 90% of my camera gear from Pro Camera Hawaii and will continue to support them. read more

Amazing service, solid selection, what more can you ask for? Go visit Tony and the team if you're looking to purchase or rent quality camera gear. I love the variety of equipment available. They always have new things coming in, and the location is central for easy pick ups and returns when renting. Fair prices as well! read more

(I was a first time Hawaii visitor) The people working here are super chill and cool. I was looking for a Peak Design Sling camera bag as the one I ordered got delayed before my trip. I found this place after landing and came to check it out. The store is stocked with so much gear and accessories, and the people working here are very informative and friendly. When I got here, one associate was chatting with a customer and showing him different things, explaining the technical aspects in a clear and simple manner, similar to how I would do it if I was teaching someone new or unfamiliar with a topic. The other associate let me browse in peace until I approached him to ask if they carried the camera bag I was looking for. He grabbed it for me to look at and try on. He also recommended the Wandrd bag and brought some over as that was the one he used. He was transparent with the pricing, the usage, material, and his own opinion of the two (both the practical usage and design/look). He left me alone and gave me time/space to go through them and actually came back not to check on me, but to show me a post he saw about some bomb looking tacos like I was his friend. I felt really included and was very comfortable shopping and talking to the staff here. The experience felt very personable, and I enjoyed browsing their other products. Prices are standard market price and they carry a lot of items. The shop looks unassuming as it's tucked away in a random old looking plaza away from the main tourist area, but it's such a gem. If I lived in Hawaii, I would definitely be a regular here! read more

An impulse buy but was so worth it. Was debating whether or not to buy a compact camera. I'm no professional photographer or anything but just wanted to get something to capture family pics and cute selfies. When I got there the staff were welcoming. I asked about the canon sx740 and just so happen they had 1 in stock, it's been sold out everywhere and the price was better than what they were selling for it online and at Best Buy & Walmart. I was teetering between other cameras but they were so awesome with educating me about differences to find what's the best fit for me. So I ended up buying it, since it was such a deal. They were easy to talk to, friendly and knowledgeable. Also love that their online site is an option to purchase and hold an item for pick up. But Will come again and definitely recommend it for anyone. read more

It's not often that a business deserves a 10/10 or full 5-star rating. I can count the ones I've given on one finger... but this place gets the second one ever from me. Tony and the crew here have the best customer service on the island. Always looking to make sure you get "the best" deal; and they're extremely responsive and helpful if you have questions or issues with any equipment you purchase. I used to buy exclusively online from the big camera and electronic places, but I will always see what is available here first. You can't beat local support for a product along with immediate availability--without the shipping costs... all while matching or beating the online prices! You can't go wrong giving them your patronage! My experience... I was on a wait list for 2 1/2 months for a newly released lens. I still had a couple of months more to wait from the manufacturer. I saw the PCH guys at the most recent PhotoCON and mentioned by dilemma. Tony was like, "Brah, we got that lens at my store right now. I will call them and have them hold it for you!" It made my month! Not only did I get that lens, but with their special rebate for the show, I picked up a couple more... I'm now loaded for bear! read more

Who knew there was this hidden gem! My boyfriend is just starting his exploring with photography and his cousins told him about this place. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable and are willing to help you look for exactly what you need. They have rentals for equipment which is amazing for those wanting to try out lens and cameras before they actually make a purchase on them. And the pricing is less than what you'd expect, I'm sure. I know my boyfriend is super excited to keep coming here and familiarizing himself with all the amazing products they have to offer. A must if you're new or a seasoned photographer! read more

Small store with a fairly limited inventory but helpful and friendly if somewhat under-knowledgeable staff. On the one hand, they exist! Most camera stores do not anymore, and major props to them for finding a way to keep the business going. On the other hand, I'd love for the return of larger stores with real merchandise selections and expert staff. read more

By far the best camera shop in Hawaii. Tony, Matt and the rest of the team are knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to help. Often, when it comes to hobbies like photography, it can be intimidating to walk into a shop as someone new - but Pro Camera Hawaii and always been welcoming and more than happy to answer my questions. New to photography and want to try different styles? No problem - they have a mountain of lenses available for rent so you can try everything before investing in some glass. Have a really bad addiction to bags and constantly looking for "the perfect bag"? No problem, they have a whole wall of them. Absolutely love this shop, and they even have classes some times! 1000% recommended. read more

Wannabe photographer here whose prior experience with cameras is the one built into my iPhones. I was ok with the photos I was taking from my phone. Like the saying goes "You don't know what you're missing until you get introduced to what you're missing (and then realize you just got sucked into a thousand dollar hobby LOL [well that's why my rental only review... for now])!! I got introduced to "real cameras and lenses" and now my phone is "EHHHHH" for on the go photos but the real memory keepers I wholly admit are from Pro Camera Hawaii's camera selection. Their rental cameras produce these incredibly sharp, colorful photos with that blurry background so my subject is highlighted (bokeh??). They have an easy and diverse rental department so I don't have to initially spend thousands but can rent equipment and have some fun and get great shots to keep! Tony, owner who actually works behind the counter full time too, has always been really patient, helpful and friendly... and PATIENT when discussing what I'm trying to shoot. He talks about focus (yes I had the "Why isn't this in focus" when looking through the eye hole (?) moment), lighting, subject frame space etc. For my son's soccer games I rented a long lenses camera (don't recall the technical alpha and numerical acronyms each camera and lens...but it was a Nikon). For my just for fun play at the park and gardens, it was this Canon 6d MKll (??) and XX/xx xx(??) lens which was super easy for my point and shot capabilities that produced SUPER AMAZING pictures with my boys and flowers. I don't want to post my boys here, but they were some of my all time favorite. Flowers posted :) Bottom line - RECOMMEND rent some gear there!! It's cheaper than buying new. You can test out the various equipment first! Plus they have a used gear department too, so you can buy if you love it but don't want to pay new prices ;) read more

The best camera shop in Hawaii for photo enthusiast and those obsessed with owning the newest and latest. Why? -- Tony. The personable owner. A gearhead who knows what he sells, actually shoots, and understands why photographers use what they use. Important? Yes. He knows the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 DiVC G2 is sharper and more contrasty than the Canon EF70-200 f2.8L II but knows why one is suited for a certain kind of photography and not another. -- The store is a mess. Huge inventory. Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Tamron, Sigma, tripods, heads, filters, lighting, bags. You name it, they've got it or can order it. Most gear is available for rent so try before you buy. -- Price. B&H, Adorama, the price you see there is the price you'll pay here. -- Rental. By the day, week, month. Reasonable prices. No deposit, no hold on your credit card. So why just four stars? On a recent visit, I asked for a specific, small camera body and pancake lens. Got told by a younger employee that they don't carry it because it's old (even if it's part of the current line up) and not as good as the top of the line model without even asking what I planned to use it for. Buddy, I'd like to see you shove your recommendation with fast glass in your jeans pocket. He failed to understand, tech is great but a camera is only a tool. The photographer provides the creative vision. Put another way, give Annie Leibovitz a used 10 year old, $25 compact camera and you get art. Give a average person a top of the line $6,000 DSLR, another $6,000 in top quality lenses, a $5,000 computer and the best "pro" software money can buy and you get a snapshot maybe worthy of IG. Despite this, Hawaii's best camera shop. read more

I thought my camera needed a sensor cleaning because dust spots were showing in my photos. I was expecting for it to take a while but they said it would be quick. They worked on it for a few minutes and it turned out my sensor wasn't dirty, but they cleaned the dust out of my camera anyway free of charge. They also gave me some alcohol wipes so I could clean the inside in the future. They could have charged me for the sensor cleaning and I would've never known. I'm so appreciative of their kindness and honesty and will definitely be back for any other services or camera gear that I need :) read more

When in doubt, do the research and ask the pros. We wanted to get a simple point-and-shoot camera with some upgraded features but didn't know anything about it. Thanks to Yelp, we were able to attend the recent PhotoCon Hawaii where we visited many booths by asking a lot of questions and attended workshops. Thanks to Yelp Elite Dave F., a photographer in his own right, explained a few things and gave us some recommendations and referrals. Thanks to Pro Camera Hawaii in Aiea, who sealed the purchase for us. Pro Camera Hawaii. They are the best if you need to buy a camera or accessories or even to ask questions about photography. Opened in Dec. 2014 as a one-stop camera shop, owner Tony Zerga, who worked in the camera industry for 10 years prior, saw an increasing demand for photography and wanted to help other photographers, whether they are beginners or professionals. We found Tony to be super knowledgeable, personable, patient, friendly, and honest. He'll ask you a lot of questions so that he can recommend the right camera for your needs now and what can potentially grow if we really get into it going forward. As we didn't know anything about photography, we didn't feel intimated by the many terms known only to photographers, as Tony was genuinely interested in helping us learn more. We could see that he was not about to oversell us with a camera that was beyond our needs. We ended up talking to him for more than an hour, giving us the pros and cons of different cameras, before choosing the model we decided on. When we finally decided which model we wanted, Tony noted that he would have to order one, as he did not have available inventory. So what did he do? He let us use of his rental cameras at no charge and took a bag and camera chip from the wall! He said to use it and jot down our questions when we bring it back to pick up the one we ordered, which was about a week later. So very trusting! Tony's philosophy is also vetted in the staff of two photographer employees, Matt and Jolly. Both are also personable and accommodating and have helped us when Tony was not there. Our camera came in, so we picked it up, and Matt serviced us be setting everything up, including downloading of an app on our cellphone, setting up the automatic date, and even threading the camera strap onto the camera. Cool! Representatives from different camera brands oftentimes hold classes in their store, e.g., a class for advanced photographers in Oct. and a beginner's class by Canon in Nov. And that anytime we have any questions whatsoever, we are welcomed to drop by at any time. Pro Camera HI also provides repair and maintenance services on cameras that are purchased there. And from time to time, professional photographers may show their works via displays there, e.g., Yelp Elite Dave F. once had a stunning display of his seascape photos on glass. Services such as these will surely help us learn more, as if we had purchased a camera online or from one of the big box stores, we would be left on our own without any support services. As we were leaving, we were kindly asked by a personable sales rep, Lyle from the distributor BlackRapid camera straps, if we wanted to try on a body strap that prevents having a sore back when carrying your camera around your neck. Great customer service, as he patiently fitted my hubby with a strap that fit perfectly and gave us many tips when traveling. No obligation to buy and in fact, he said wait for the next sale to get it. Cool! During the times we've been there, we noticed how busy it was, with people coming in and going. And everyone knew everyone. I felt very good vibes in a place where it was so friendly and people with a common interest helping others. Looks like a great hangout, and we look forward to just dropping in anytime, whether to purchase an accessory or to just talk story. Located in Aiea Town Square right across from Hughley's Southern Cuisine. Free parking available in this strip mall's parking lot. Hours are Mon. to Fri. 9:30a - 7:00p; Sat. 9:00a - 7:00p; and Sun. 10:00a - 3:00p. Note that Tony is usually off on Fridays and Sundays. Thank you, Yelp, for paving the way to let us attend the 2019 PhotoCon Hawaii, to have befriended Yelp Elite Dave F. in the Yelp community for his expertise in photography, and the many 5-star Yelp reviews of Pro Camera Hawaii. They all helped in making us happy campers in purchasing a camera! read more

I was taking pictures and I noticed that my DSLR pictures all had spots on them in the same location. After cleaning my lens I still had the same spots. Internet research showed that my sensor needed cleaning and I called Pro Camera Hawaii and they had me fill in a form on their website and told me when the technician would be available to take care of cleaning the sensor. When I get to the store they were very friendly and looked at my lens and camera and saw that the sensor needed cleaning as I thought. The tech took his time and went over my sensor about five times to make sure all the dust was gone. We visited Hawaii for our family summer vacation in 2018, and we had a great time. While on Oahu one of the things we did was climb Diamond Head. It's a great afternoon and the views from the top are spectacular. Our son and daughter both have had GorillaPod tripods for their iPods and our son's GoPro for years, and both brought them and used them on our trip. While at the top of Diamond Head, our son's tripod experienced a "sibling moment" and met its demise. Thankfully a Yelp search found Pro Camera Hawaii and a quick call confirmed they carry GorillaPods. We did not want the very large one, but the smaller-to-mid-sized one. What they offered was a little larger than the one that was broken but it still fits in our son's GoPro case, so it was just right. The staff was helpful with the GorillaPod, and with directions from the highway to their store. While our stop was a brief detour en route back to dinner in our room, a quick look around the store shows that they have a great selection of cameras and equipment... we'd shop there if we were locals and we'll return when next we visit. Thank you, Pro Camera Hawaii, for having the GorillaPod, which our son used the rest of the trip and since we've returned, and which helped return the bit of broken peace to our family's afternoon. read more

I am a beginner and noob when it comes to photography. I initially inquired about lens repair but was given an honest, no BS reply, that would only financially benefit me instead of the business. Pro Camera Hawaii is my number 1 shop for camera, video, and drones. Originally in the my previous review two years ago of PCH, a friend had recommended me to check out this small business when I was looking for quality lens filter. Since then I have returned many times whenever I need to pick up new equipment for my photography, which recently I purchased two lens and a charger for the Mavic Mini. All of the staff at PCH are all currently working in the field, so they will be able to recommend and talk about any of the equipment that is in the shop. They will be able to tailor to almost every customers needs (except film, check Tree House in Kaka'ako). Whenever my friends now ask where I go to get my equipment, I will always recommend them to Pro Camera Hawaii. To summarize everything, the main points why I recommend Pro Camera Hawaii: 1.) The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. 2.) They take care of their customer's needs 3.) Carry most items big box stores (Best Buy) do not 4.) Have a really good rental program 5.) Creating new, strong relationships with other businesses and bringing new products. Check out the Nisi Filters read more
