I've been wearing a ring on my right middle finger for the last 10 years, a silver-pewter ring I bought in Spain. I love this ring so much that I only took it off maybe a total of 5 times over the last decade. Three things happened to the ring during that time: 1) My finger outgrew it, so I was physically unable to remove it. 2) The bottom of the ring wore down to the point that it cracked and eventually ripped apart. 3) The beautiful silver eventually turned into a blackish, worn-metal color. It was time to have it fixed. I brought it in to a couple different stores and am so happy I went with Treasures to get the job done. They finished within a week and only charged me $75, which was a great price compared to the jeweler up the street who wanted to charge me nearly $200! Three things are true about the ring now: 1) It's the right size! They added a bit of metal to the bottom so that it fits comfortably, but I can still slide it off. 2) They melded the bottom so it's no longer ripped, and you can't even tell it ever was! 3) It's back to its beautiful, shiny, silver self! It looks brand new. When I went in to pick it up, I only had my AMEX with me, which they don't accept. However, they were kind enough to let me take the ring home and call in later with my VISA card number. Very trusting! All in all, it was an incredible experience. I'm so pleased with the care they took on my favorite ring and would go back to them in a heartbeat. read more

This happened several years ago so it's old news. I think that my case may still be instructive. The young women on duty broke my watch (which I had purchased there) when I brought it in to get the battery replaced. I could deal with that - mistakes happen - but then there was NO ONE that I could talk to about this on telephone, or in person. At one point I found the owner at Facets (same owner, at least then). I'd come in with my daughter and she lit up, started asking about ear piercing, until she realized why we'd come in. She refused to accept responsibility for the breaking of my watch for 8 months before finally agreed to replace it. They have some pretty things, but I'm never buying anything there again. read more

This place was fun to come to and get ear piercings. The man in the store was friendly and accommodating and he reassured our anxious Maha that she would not be in pain. Of course that was a blatant lie, but still-it made her sit still to get a second hole punched in each ear. Nelly didn't flinch until we left the store. We bantered with him about our "criminal" cultural traditions of piercing girls' ears at birth. We told him it's just the way it's done, and he said no. Wait. We still think that it's fine to pierce a baby girls' ears. They won't remember it anyways. I digress, of course. We browsed a bunch of jewelry and ear marked pieces for upcoming birthdays and events. I dropped a very special necklace off at Treasures about a month ago to have the broken chain fixed. The man working at the counter told me that Treasures was planning to close its Brooklyn location but said the repair would take no more than two weeks, would be done at Treasures' Manhattan location, and there would be no problem. I still haven't received a call about the necklace. I've tried calling the store a hundred times but their number seems to have been disconnected and (while the store isn't yet boarded up) it never seems to be open. They have no website, no Yelp contact, and I can't figure anything out about this mysterious Manhattan location. HELP! This is a meaningful piece of jewelry, if not terribly expensive, and I cannot believe a store would just shut down permanently without returning it to me first. **Update** - we stopped by Treasures today, 2 days before my ring was supposed to be finished (resized) and just 1.5 weeks before my wedding. Had a sense that I needed to check in based on my review above. Sure enough, NOTHING had been done. They also claimed they had resized it - wrongly - from a 10 to a 9! This isn't just a bad experience from an otherwise good company. This is systemic. So many other good jewelers on 7th Ave. Go there instead. read more

A dreadful experience. I wish I'd read the Yelp reviews beforehand. I needed a simple watch strap replacement for my Daniel Wellington watch. I bought in my watch with the old strap, plus the new strap I wanted to switch out, a simple job, but the man behind the counter said he didn't know how to do it because he was "still learning," but someone would be around later to do it, and would give me a call on completion. Ok, I said, I'll pick it up tomorrow. The next day I got a call from the shop, saying the watch band I wanted was too big for the watch (turns out I'd accidentally ordered the wrong sized strap online, oooops) but, good news, he said, they had the correct sized Daniel Wellington strap to replace it with, and I could pick it up that afternoon. Sounded good! At the scheduled time, I showed up at the store. It was 4:30pm (the shop is open until 7:30pm). No one was there. I knocked. I called. I hung around for 10 minutes in case someone was in the bathroom. Then I was just forced to leave. The next day, I called to ask what was going on, and the owner said "oh no, we were there." They certifiably were not. He then said "oh maybe we just popped to Starbucks or something" at which point I asked why they wouldn't leave a note on the door. No response. He then tells me my watch is ready. At this point, I'm suspicious, so I say, ok, and just confirming it's the correct Daniel Wellington strap, right? He says, oh no, it's just like your old one (the style I WANTED REPLACED) and isn't Daniel Wellington, but I should "just come and see it." They had literally lied to me about what they were doing, and put a strap on my watch, without my consent, that I never asked for and didn't want. I walked over to the shop that evening after work (my third out of the way visit for this unbelievably simple thing) asked him to remove the ugly strap he had put on my watch and clearly just wanted to flog to me, and left. This was just a watch strap. I can't imagine how awful it would be to have to deal with this kind of rude, insensitive customer service when it comes to expensive, precious jewelry, or beloved family heirlooms. Avoid! read more

I rarely write yelp reviews....but, I felt compelled to warn others. Let me start with the punchline: They may have beautiful jewelry on display, but are not competent at repair. They will ruin your jewelry. So.. I went into Treasures to sell a piece of old jewelry. They offered a fair price and the exchange was made. I then asked if they could size my ring- they responded "no problem". It will be ready Saturday. Well on Saturday, I called. The manager said that there "was a problem and a stone popped out and they don't have a 'setter'". I was upset: a) no one called b)they popped a stone out!!. So they offered half off and promised it would be perfect. On Thursday, my ring was ready, and this time, when trying the ring on realized that the smooth back of the ring, now was pointed in a cone-head type shape. They again took it back, this time saying that it will be perfect when returned and be free of charge. I went back on Saturday for my ring and the stone that popped out, was now laying lower than the other stones and the setting was now crooked (hard to explain but suffice it to say, awful.) I walked out with my ring regretting ever stepping in. NICE PEOPLE- BUT DO NOT GO HERE WITH ANY JEWELRY YOU CONSIDER VALUABLE. read more

Just be careful here, and look at price tags before you ask a price. I have admired the necklaces in here on many a pass-by, and the guy who works here is friendly. I mentioned this to my fiancé and we stopped in one day to look at rings for him. When we arrived we looked at a few pieces and also asked about a wedding band, one particular one he had his eye on. The man quoted him a price--this was a different salesperson, the older of the two. We all had a little chit chat, looking at bands and such, and I noticed my fiancé suddenly did not seem motivated to go further even though some of the rings were just what he wanted, and one especially was just right. Later on I asked him what was up, and he said, " I didn't want to bum you out, because I know you liked this place, but the price he said was much higher than the price tag--I noticed it right away, because you could see the tag sticking out from the ring--but at some point he (salesman) rubbed off the tag from the ring, and when we asked him the price he changed it, on the spot. " Perhaps that's what a lot of merchants do. For us, that is dishonest, no way would we return. read more

Wow, talk about horrible customer service. Needed a new watch band and went in because I wanted to support local business. First visit was told they'd ordered it and it would be delivered in a week to ten days. Several weeks later and no word I went back and was told it was "on back order" and would be in within the month. Never heard from them again and went back a third time only to be told it would be delivered in "a few days." Should I have been surprised not to hear from them? They weren't open the day thru told me told me to come get it and they didnt pick up the phone when i called for a week. when i went to pick up my ring, a week later, they hadn't even done anything to it. I love the jewelry here! I've been admiring it for years, every time I passed the store. I finally went in when I saw a sign that they do repairs. Avi and his associates have great customer service and not only repaired my broken gold chain but it is now in better shape than it was when I bought it. Avi is knowledgeable about every piece in the store including the artist that made it. I recently bought the perfect pair of delicate earrings for a friend of mine and will no doubt go back to find something for myself. The quality of the jewelry is excellent. I had a bad experience here and will not go back. I brought in a rough uncut crystal stone that I wanted to have set in a ring. The guy there, who said he is the designer, spent time with discussing what I want and assured me they would do a nice job. It would cost $450, which seemed high to me, but I really don't know. I left a $300 deposit and they said it would be ready in a little over a week. After two weeks I hadn't heard from them and called, but the phone rang and rang, which was very frustrating. After a few days I finally got through and they said the ring would be ready in a day or two, and then they called me. I went in and the ring was absolutely not how we had discussed. He seemed to know this, as he quickly apologized and said they would do it again, and I briefly explained what we discussed previously. He said it would be ready in about two days. Again, never heard form them, called several times and it rang and rang. Finally they called me to pick up the ring. About five weeks had passed since I first dropped it off. When I saw the ring, it looked very nice, but still wasn't quite what we had discussed (the metal is thick and high around the crystal so you can't really see it), but I let it go. I asked if they would take something off the price because of all the hassle, their mistake, and the lack of follow through on the time. He gave me $20 off, which seemed like nothing. He shrugged and said it wasn't their fault about the first mistake (?) and that they were close enough of the time. He did not seem to care at all that this had been a frustrating experience and was rude to me. Also, later that day I inspected the ring more carefully, and they cut the top of the stone, flattening it, which was the opposite of what we discussed. I realize there is no point going back because they are rude and not accountable. So, the ring they made is not what we discussed and they took much longer to finish it than they had said, and they unpleasant in the process. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Treasures has the worst customer service. I purchased a necklace here for my mother. On her first wear 2 of the many charms fell off. When we looked closer at the item we saw that none of the charms were well attached and all of them would fall off at some point. We also saw that the chain had actually broken at some point and Treasures had fixed it by soldering one of the charms between the break- and poorly at that. I know the store had an exchange only policy but I was sure that once I showed them the poor quality of the product they sold me they would make an exception. NOPE! The owner stood behind the crappy product and would not help me- I've never received such a poor response at a retail store before. I did get the store credit which I will use and then I will NEVER be back. read more

Totally ruined a necklace I had purchased and subsequently 'repaired' there and then somehow blamed me for not being specific enough about how I wanted it repaired. I bought a very nice piece of jewelry here on a Saturday for Mothers day. I'v e bought several expensive pieces here before, they have nice stuff. I actually think it was the most expensive piece in the store. I was reluctant, but the owner told me I could bring it back for a refund if the necklace didn't hit the spot. My wife didn't like it (she has better taste than me). On Monday I returned the item. The store refused to give me a refund even though they had not even yet processed the credit card charge. I left the item in the store with the owner. Perhaps Mastercard can get my money back. If not, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, then NY State Supreme Court. Wow, I wish I'd read the previous review before I went here. I brought my (2 week old, brand new) engagement ring here to be repaired because the stone was slightly loose in the setting. When it was returned to me the gold was scratched and nicked and part of the gold looked like it had been melted with a blowtorch. Horrified, I took the ring to another jeweler to repair the damage -- who then discovered Treasures had 'fixed' the loose stone by supergluing it into the setting. Absolutely insane. read more

I've bought watch from them and had the glass and wristband replaced. I asked for the estimate date when they can have it ready. It wasn't ready in time even though I didn't ask to rush it. So they really could have chosen the date by which they could garantee the work to be done. Every time I called trying to establish as to when it will be ready I got no answer and was asked to call next day when "the boss will be in". Not once the boss was available at said time. Finally got the watch and needed to adjust the length of the wristband. The man at the shop didn't know how to do it and said to come back next day when "the boss will be in". We talked about the best time to come in. I made it in next day at 5:30. 90 minutes before the store supposed to be closed. Only to see the shut gate. Under the closer inspection I discovered the dent in the watch case (what appears to be a result of the glass changing process). Also the wristband which they replace was just horrible. Imagine the stereotypical "made in China" product. Mind you I payed over 200$ for this very simple stainless steel watch. Went few blocks down to a Glitz shop where the man replaced and adjusted the wristband on the spot. Was super kind and informed me just about how much I was overcharged by this "treasures" Unprofessional and uncaring business. read more

I took my brand new watch ( purchased elsewhere, pretty expensive) in here to have a link taken out of the band. Seems pretty simple, no? No. The guy behind the counter proceeded to BANG on the watch with a hammer trying to get the pin out. You can see without any magnifier that the pins are threaded with a flathead screw. I told him to stop and asked if he knew what he was doing. He got snarky, saying no that he "did not, and was just figuring it out as he went along". This was actually the truth, next he stripped out the screw using the wrong size jewelers screwdriver. After all this he charged me 10 bucks. Now I get to take the watch to a real jeweler to see if his banging knocked the timing out. Not cool. Avoid at all cost. read more

The owner/sole employee of this store is the most unscrupulous and incredibly rude I have ever come across in my long life. I returned a watch that wasn't working and after many tribulations he agreed to refund my money. But when it came to the point he refused and called me a liar saying there was nothing wrong with the watch. Now that I have read several negative reviews of this store I realize I should never have gone in there in the first place. I took it upon myself to return today, having received no word and feeling slightly anxious. My anxiety was completely quelled by the gentleman, Avi, who greeted me. Once he realized my items had not been touched, he apologized and went right to addressing the problems. He repaired my necklace in a snap and refused to charge me for it. He then discovered that my watch needed a brand new mechanism and gave me a fair quote on its repair. I walked in and explained the situation, and that i needed it done as soon as possible.
