I came here based on other reviews from women who reset their rings and / or resized them. After pregnancy my fingers never went quite to their original size so I both reset and resized my engagement ring. The process was really seamless and took about 6 weeks. I was also able to pay in installments which I really appreciated and had to pay no interest on. GLITZ is the worst...I needed a watch pin for the bracelet after it disappeared. I was near Glitz and walked in to see if they had a replacement. The guy (owner) told me he didn't have the exact replacemen, but could install one that would work just as well. I was leaving town and rely on my watch, so I said okay. After installation he told me that he charges $25 for the pin. I was unhappy and made my displeasure known to him, however, I needed the watch and paid the bill. That night the pin broke, subsequently I visited "Watch and Jewelery Repair" on Smith St. The proper pin was installed and it has lasted the intervening year...They charged 5 bucks. If you like Glitz, they advertise that they buy gold...the hallmark of a high end jewelry. Right? No, wrong. read more

I'm fully prepared for the owner to reply to this review saying I'm a liar. I know when I have been gaslit. I took some pieces to get fixed to Glitz. Among were two necklaces, one with a broken chain, the other with a broken clasp, both with a pendant on each. I went to pick up, and one of my pendants was gone. My very small, yet beloved Diamond, from someone I love with all my heart. He told me there was never a pendant. I know what I brought, and I included every piece of every necklace. He said he'd search anyhow, which I appreciate, but came up short. Who knows if he even looked, but he calls to tell me he never lost a piece in his life, and that he's not trying to swindle money, but I did not give him a pendant. I know what is true. I told him to keep my money, keep the chain and keep the pendant. Things are just things. It was a privilege to have ever owned such a sentimentally beautiful piece. One of the last places you should find stress is when purchasing something as special as an engagement ring. It's pretty sensible that whoever is handling the sale for which, considering price as well as sentimentality, would take take it as seriously. What I found was negligence and apathy. The amount of help that I got was lackluster. Eventually ended up going somewhere else because the ring came back twice with defects. The first time the interior engraving was noticeably slanted. The second time it looked like the ring got so scratched it might as well have gotten dragged across pavement and driven over. Eddie didn't care as much to take a second look at the ring either times. At least if he did he didn't care there were glaring defects. I can't begin to describe the embarrassment of my fiance finding this piece of jewelry that's supposed to symbolize our relationship with careless mistakes. The next time I'm looking for something sentimental, I won't be making this mistake twice. I reached out to Glitz Jewelers via email to have a necklace fixed. I was bending down to feed my Pug puppy, and she jumped up and caught my necklace in her paw and broke the chain! When I sent my email, I included pictures of the broken chain and requested a quote for the repair--Eddie got back to me in less than 24 hours! The price was fair, and he was even able to fix it in shorter time frame than quoted. When the necklace was ready, I received a polite text message letting me know, and when I went to pick it up, Eddie even offered to polish my engagement ring for free! I've lived in the neighborhood for quite some time, and I have sampled the services of some of the other popular jewelers in Park Slope, but my experience at Glitz was hands down the best experience I've had. I had a broken prong in my diamond engagement ring. I took it in and asked the jeweler to please examine the ring and fix any prongs that look bad so that I would not loose any of the diamonds. If you're taking the time to bring your ring in to get fixed, you expect to walk out confident that it was examined and anything that needed fixing was fixed. 2 months later a side diamond's prong broke. My husband said to not return to the same jeweler so I spent more time reading reviews. I took the ring to a jeweler that didn't have any negative reviews (unlike the first jeweler.) I watched the jeweler take magnified photos of my ring and was able to see how bad the main stone prongs looked in the photos (my eyes are not trained to look closely at jewelry.) One prong in the middle main diamond shows a very obvious crack and even if he tried to say it was created in the last two month after repair (unlikely) You can see of the 4 main diamond of prongs, two are much larger than the other two. At a side angle you can see he added too much to the prongs he corrected and one of the smaller prongs is no longer even touching the diamond. When I told the jeweler at Glitz the work wasn't good he recommended I get a whole new setting -- which the new jeweler said was absolutely not necessary and she would show me the difference in work after completion. If his opinion was that I needed a new setting he shouldn't have poorly corrected two prongs to be larger than the other two and let me walk out of his shop thinking he had fixed my ring. I trusted his professional opinion as a jeweler to examine my ring and tell me what needed to be done to get it properly fixed. I didn't expect to have to go to another jeweler 2 months later. The 2nd jeweler that I went to said they have often repaired his work and it's frustrating for them to see. I will upload a picture of the prongs he fixed and you can see that he let me walk out with two disproportionate prongs, causing my main center diamond to be off center and the other original prong not to be securing the diamond. Very frustrating experience to say the least. This is also the very first review I gave ever written on Yelp or anywhere for that matter. (Looking forward to Eddie posting a response to this, filled with his typical lies) Always beware a place with a sign that says "No Returns". As soon as you walk in, Eddie will start telling you about all the celebrities he's sold jewelry too, how much they love him, etc, etc. Should tip you off immediately about the kind of low rate grifter he is. Then he showed me this diamond out his "private collection" that he hand picked, said it was worth $8,000. I didn't know much about diamonds at the time. Some of the attributes sounded good. It had good color, good size. Eddie assured me that a "poor" rating for cut didn't matter, wasn't important. Well I learned later what a complete lie that was. I bought a ring with that diamond, it cost $9,000. A lot of money, but I thought I was getting something great for my fiance. I was nervous about proposing to my girlfriend, about this whole big decision I was making, it really distracted me from the obvious red flags that is Eddie. Please don't make my mistake. If he seems shady, it's because he is. As soon as I took it out of the store's lighting, it was obvious that the diamond looked like glass. You could see right through it. That's what a "poor" cut means. It doesn't refract. Most online diamond sellers wont even carry them. So I got scammed, and that's on me, but that doesn't absolve the scammer. I couldn't believe how much he lied to me. How he tried to get me to buy this rip-off. So I took it back. It was a custom band, with 2 small diamonds on the sides. So I said I'd pay the cost to make the custom ring, and for the side diamonds, but I wanted a refund on the rest. He said he wouldn't do it. I argued with him for a while and he eventually agreed to give me $6000 of the $9000 back. He also said he'd take the ring and sell it, and once he did, we would split the profit 50/50 which would hopefully be the $3000 he still owed me. I asked what if he couldn't sell it in 1 year, and he said if it still wasn't sold in 1 year, and I didn't want to wait any longer, he'd give me $500. I agreed, and he wrote up a receipt. What else could I do? Better than nothing, right? Well, I asked after a year, he said he still didn't sell it. So I waited another year. I called him up, and at first he said he didn't remember the deal. Then when I explained the original deal, he suddenly remembered exactly! ...A totally different deal he just made up; if he sold the ring he'd give me $500, and otherwise nothing. He gets to keep either $2500 or $3000 from me, and I get nothing in return. When I told him that was a lie, that wasn't the deal, he accused me of a running a scam (haha, can you imagine having a con artist trying to accuse YOU of scamming THEM?), and he hung up on me. So I went right over there to confront him. It took me 3 minutes to walk over. And he was already gone. He ran out of there as fast as he could after hanging up on me (like someone with a guilty conscience would do). The lady at the counter told me he was running errands. So I stuck around. I saw someone come in who looked a lot like him, so I went up and asked if he was looking for something, he didn't really give a straight answer. So I figured the lady at the counter had called in a relative from nearby to help intimidate me, while Eddie hid somewhere. I asked him if he was related to Eddie, and he said he was, so I explained exactly how bad of a business Eddie was running. Eventually Eddie came back, and got right in my face and started putting his finger in my face calling me a liar. He's bigger than me, and I think he thought he could just scare me away and keep all the money he stole from me. But I wasn't having it, he was definitely lying and had the gull to screw me over and lie to my face. He wouldn't even acknowledge the crappy deal I initially agreed to. He then immediately called the cops and I said good, bring them in. I was hoping they could do something to help me. They got there, we explained it, they asked him if he could grab the receipt that had the deal written on it, and he refused. Why would he refuse if he wasn't lying? But they couldn't force him. They asked me to step out with them, and I explained the situation and the cop seemed stunned by the outrageous scam Eddie had pulled. But he said all I could do is find my copy of the receipt and take Eddie to court. Which is what I'm going to do now. My recommendation, don't give your business to these old school scammers. There are so many good alternatives. I highly recommend buying online. Eddie himself told me that the physical stores upcharge jewelry 300%. Whereas online you can get much better diamonds upcharged only 15%. I got something way better than any of the gaudy designs offered at Glitz, for a fraction of the cost. Please don't make the mistake I made. Can't believe I have to waste my time taking this joker to court. read more

Beware for any of us with items of high sentimental value. I brought my watch in to Eddie at Glitz, and I should have at first been wary of his overconfidence at being able to remove a link and tighten a clasp. I came back 15 minutes later to see him looking impatient and the watch in pieces, and he was about to take a hammer to the link, after he had rudely told me to "go for another walk or just wait!", after I tried to get some clarity after he had already admitted to me that it was "harder task than he thought". Maybe I was unlucky, and this kind of watch is not common, but then he should have been more cautious. The end are damaged, the remaining links he couldn't detach are bent out of shape because didn't know the right way to adjust it. I would expect a far higher level of service. Not only was he rude to my face but he damaged a present from my father from 1965. Shame. read more

I asked if I could watch the jeweler work on my engagement ring because I was nervous, and Eddie said that they could do that for me by appointment if I came in prior to the appt to show them the ring so that they could get an idea of the job. Eddie took special care and made me feel at ease. When I arrived for my appointment I met Marco the jeweler who walked me through every step of the process and wanted to make sure I could see everything he was doing. My ring fits perfectly and it's as stunning as the day I received it. Both Marco and Eddie were so calm, confident and reassuring. Brought my watch here for a battery replacement. Service was very good, only took about 5 minutes and cost $16. The next day, I noticed one of the link pins had come almost entirely out. I pushed it back in and forgot about it, and the day after that my watch fell off while I was walking down the street. Luckily, it was caught in my coat sleeve so it didn't fall on the ground, but the pin was nowhere to be found. I went in to Glitz to have my rings cleaned and inspected. Alyssa helped me and was honest, friendly, and helpful. She even cleaned both of my rings and my fiance's ring for free. I brought in a pair of silver hoop earrings- the post had broken off of one and needed to be repaired. I was charged $50 and the repair job is really poor-- the earring is discolored and melted looking where it attaches to post. Also you'll also be asked to pay up front before you see the repair job. This is a well overdue review... I went to Glitz for two custom made wedding bands in April this year. One band is a 2 carat eternity channel set platinum band. It fits perfectly and shines beautifully. The store didn't carry exactly what I was looking for but working with Eddie was easy. He helped me figure out the perfect combination. The ring was ready on time and I appreciated the call letting me know it was ready for pick up. The second band was made to match my engagement ring band (purchased elsewhere). Eddie went out of his way to have the band custom cast to perfectly hug the diamond on my engagement ring and match the width of the two bands. I'm in love! They look like a matched set! I've been going to Glitz for all my jewelry repairs (and shopping) for more than a year, and I've never been less than extremely pleased with the service I've gotten, the quality of the repairs done on my jewelry, the advice I've gotten from Eddie, and all my interactions here. Eddie is also excellent at explaining what needs to be done and why, finding ways to solve seemingly insoluble problems, and hunting up items you weren't sure you could get. My husband bought me two gorgeous Skagen watches here, for various occasions, and I've just bought a Movado for him...and I never thought I could afford a Movado! I couldn't recommend Eddie and Glitz more highly...pleasant, neighborly service, quality repairs and merchandise, good prices, gentle handling of your valuables.
