Got here pretty close to Christma--a busy time for sure--but they exploded repairs--which were perfectly done--in time for a nice surprise holiday gift--much appreciated. I should note that the jewelry itself here is...not to my taste. I thought I'd get a new piece to go with the repairs, but for me things felt on the showy side. Then again I'm no expert, and tastes vary. I brought in an engagement ring, an antique family heirloom, to get resized. I was nervous about getting work done on the ring, but the owner was reassuring and I assumed the job was pretty straightforward. The result was not good. The shank was lopsided, the sizing beads they added were not even close to evenly spaced, the seam at the bottom of the shank was visible, and one element holding up the diamond's setting had even come apart. The owner gave it back without noting any of these issues. After I brought it back to point them out, he did agree there were issues and offered to take it back to work on it further. When I was given back the ring a second time, one of the issues was addressed but the rest were not. And the owner became defensive when I pointed out the remaining problems. The prices here are low, but so was the quality of work. I ended up paying hundreds of dollars to another jeweler to repair the ring after H&A's botched resizing. If you're looking to have a valuable or vintage piece of jewelry worked on, I would go somewhere else. read more

I had a bunch of really old (like, 15-year-old) Alexis Bittar necklaces with rusty chains. Instagram inspired me to resurrect and update my necklaces so I came to H&A jewelers. Not only did they replace the chains on my old necklaces with beautiful tiny gold chains for 1/10th the cost of Instagram brands, they also put bars on the chains to keep the pendants in place. My ring is white gold and had to be sized up three and a half sizes. It cost $75+tax. It took 3 days and I couldn't be more happy with the experience and updates to my ring. The price also included fixing up the white gold plating that was starting to go! When I dropped off the ring I also had a couple silver rings cleaned at no charge. Quarantine has been too kind for some...so much so that a lot of us has gained a few extra lbs here and there. I, for one am one of them. I have a ring that has gotten too tight for my usual index finger. Brought the ring in to have it enlarged. Little did I know, the ring needed to be enlarged 2 sizes up. The owner warned me that he was worried about stretching it too much past a couple of sizes. Knowing it would be a risk, I still asked him to proceed...and it came out PERFECT. These wonderful people did two things for me recently, and I am so grateful: 1) repaired my wife's engagement ring, platinum with diamonds from the 1930's originally from my grandmother. My wife had broken the band. They had it fixed perfectly by the next day, had cleaned it so it shined like it never had before, and it cost only $25. 2) put a new battery and replaced the battery holder, and added links to NOS luxury watch we had bought my father for his birthday. They charged only for the battery, and did the work while I waited. They are lovely, pleasant, quick, careful, and it's a pleasure to do business. I was in the area and randomly walked into the store after seeing his window display. I met Sal who was extremely patient, polite and fair. He was not pushy like the typical jewelry store salesman. I buy a decent amount of jewelry every year so I have a pretty good idea of pricing. Sal originally quoted me fair pricing so I did not have to haggle back and forth with him which is common practice at most other shops. He had plenty of inventory in stock but I wanted a specific item which he was able to special order me and it arrived the following day as promised. Ultimately I ended up buying several other items from him and plan on going back next time I need something. I took my Seiko here after Brooklyn Watch Shop broke my watch and tried to rip me off by charging me $20-plus to fix their mistake. H&A fixed it in 24 hours and charged me a few dollars. I wanted to write a review at that point, but was too lazy. Today, however, I went back to H&A because the band came off the same Seiko when I wiped out on my bike (watch out for potholes, kids). The guy who fixed it charged me a dollar. When I didn't have cash, he said not to worry about it, I could give it to them next time I'm in the shop. Wow! They did a great job adding balls to my engagement ring. I was a little nervous because the ring is platinum and has diamonds on the sides but there were no issues. He even adjusted the balls a few times for me because at first they wouldn't fit right over my knuckle. I appreciate the amount of work that went in without any complaints. Also super affordable.
