Jean does amazing work and listens to his customers. He understood exactly how I wanted my engagement ring to look, asked the right questions, made sure it fit perfectly, and got it done in a reasonable amount of time. When it came time for the wedding band, I brought over photos and same thing: he understood the task, asked any questions that needed to be asked, and it was absolutely perfect. I needed it engraved last minute and he was able to fit that in and even showed me what it would look like first. I asked to get the engagement ring also engraved at the same time and it was no issue. Every time I've come up, he always checks to make sure the rings are still in perfect condition. I'm pretty rough with my hands and there are definitely a lot of dings on the bottom of my rings, but they are holding together firm. He definitely makes jewelry that will last. read more

John delivered a holiday miracle! I enthusiastically recommend Optimal Innovative Solutions for all your fine jewelry needs.  John, you are an absolute gem (pun intended)! Thank you for everything, and I truly mean everything because you were with me throughout the entire process. I felt more confident leaving Optimal Innovative Solutions than I did coming in. I entered with some idea of what style I wanted for an engagement ring, a budget, and a date (an aggressive one, if I'm being honest). John provided me with some exceptional options for bands and diamonds, and the final product exceeded my expectations. For one thing, he delivered it on time--like a fourth-quarter buzzer-beater! I didn't think it could be done that quickly. And second, the ring was flawless! My jaw dropped when I saw it for the first time. It exceeded my partner's expectations as well. My fiancée certainly loves her ring and has been getting showered with compliments from her friends and family. The quality and craftsmanship are beyond spectacular on a regular timeline, but to do me a solid and have it ready in a matter of days--my mind is still blown. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! You've helped to make us extremely happy, and I'm looking forward to getting the wedding bands from you.  1,000%  Recommend! read more

I have had great experiences working with Jean, who has rebuilt two different sections of the same old, beloved, well-worn ring in the course of about a decade. He does beautiful work, is easy to communicate with, and is reasonable for the work he does. I very highly recommend him. read more

John is great! He designed my platinum 5 CT eternity ring which I absolutely love and cannot be without. He made the ring using beautiful certified stones and high quality platinum. He is a highly skilled artist with superior craftmanship, I couldn't have been happier with the result. He was a solid communicator every step of the way and completed the project within the specified timeframe. He also did an incredible job resetting my 50 year old 3.5 CT emerald cut diamond engagement ring, he added larger side diamonds which not only made it more beautiful and distinctive, it also substantially increased the rings value; I was extremely satisfied. I highly recommend John, I would never take my jewelry business to anyone else. read more

Years ago, John was referred to my fiance by a good friend. Subsequently he created an amazingly beautiful and unique engagement ring for me. I've had the ring for a while now and because I am such a rough person at times, I ended up damaging my intricately designed ring and losing a stone a couple of weeks ago. I called John up, told him about my issue and he saw me with no problem. Once he saw the ring (despite all the years that have passed), he remembered making it AND when my fiance came to him to design it! He took it with no problem, fixed the ring itself (which had a really bad slant to it - I told you I am rough), replaced the diamond, cleaned and polished it up and now it looks like it did when my fiance proposed to me!! From my interaction with John I can determine that he takes his craftsmanship very serious, is prided in providing quality product to his customers and aims to have his customers leave his office satisfied. He doesnt seem to beat around the bush and look to make a quick sale like some of the other dealers in the district. Like I said, I can tell he takes pride in his work and his reputation. Definitely someone I would utilize again and refer to others. Happy holidays to you and your family John!! All the best and thanks again for making my ring "new" again!! read more

Jean was recommended to my fiancé and I by a NYC appraiser after I lost an heirloom stone from my original engagement ring after only 2 months. Jean looked at my ring and quickly discovered lots of design and quality issues with it. He helped us by writing a letter explaining the concerns to our original jeweler. After we received our money back from them, Jean got to work recreating our ring with our heirloom diamonds and a newly sourced lab diamond. Jean's expertise made the whole process so easy after a tumultuous past experience. He took our design thoughts and then made both design and structural improvements. He was able to source a new lab diamond for the center stone that was more brilliant and bigger than our original one, and took extreme care with our heirloom diamonds. He provided computer and wax designs for us to see throughout the process, and then delivered the ring weeks ahead of our schedule. Working with Jean really turned a horrible situation into a positive one and we are so so happy with the final result - and I'm not worried about it breaking like the original ring! We cannot recommend Jean enough to anyone looking to make a custom design. We will be going back for our wedding bands and any other jewelry needs. He and his team are simply wonderful and miracle workers! read more

John totally hooked me up when my ring needed resizing. He's genial, easy-going and has a creatively crowded workspace (sign of an artist, to me). I highly recommend him if you have jewelry you really value. read more

John is the man! I originally approached him to create a custome ring for my girlfriends birthday. Brenda was given a ring when she was 5 for being a flower girl. I though it would be sweet to have it remade so she could wear it again. He could tell I obviously loved her and asked if I wanted to marry her. I affirmatively nodded and the project changed course. He took his time to show me several designs went over various diamond cuts, looked at different stones under magnification and gave me the crash course in engagement ring shopping. I sat with him for several hours and never felt pressure. I couldn't make up my mind and John encouraged me to take her ring shopping. What an experience. Who knew there were so many choices. After the fourth outing and probably around the 45th ring she tried on. She put one particular ring on six times. I asked if that was the one. She said she liked the design except the stone sat too low and wasn't nuts about the halo. I went back to John and we discussed the situation....Brenda wanted a unique ring. Showed him what she liked and didn't like and he came up with this design. It's absolutely stunning. I couldn't believe it myself. When I opened the box a tear ran down my cheek...I was blown away. I did a great thing...I picked the right jeweler. read more

While buying Jewelry, Jean was very thoughtful throughout the whole process. He helped me find exactly what I was looking for. His design was absolutely beautiful. When I say his design, I mean his design. He did all of the craftsmanship of the ring. His work was amazing. Jean is both the owner, the dealer, the designer, and the craftsman. Besides the obvious fantastic job he has done, his personality and patience with me spoke volumes about him as a person. It was the comfort and ease that made up my mind to trust and to work with him. I recommend anyone to contact Jean (who is Optimal Innovative Solutions Inc.) that is looking for jewelry. read more

Working with Jean was an overall great experience! I was recommended to him by the company that appraised my antique engagement ring. I needed my ring resized and he let me sit in his office while he was resizing it so that I could test it on my finger right there. So convenient! The whole experience was very easy and I would definitely work with him again. read more

Super helpful - clearly very experienced, very careful. I was having my engagement ring re-sized and he worked hard to be sure it was done just right. He also put the ring together for my fiance and it is gorgeous. While i was there, he was working with a jewelry designer and was painstaking in his process, worked very well with the designer to accomodate her needs and wishes. well done! read more

I went to John for a reset of my diamond studs and he did the most wonderful job. He took his time to talk to me about options, what would optimize the sparkle and size of the stones, and was so patient as a fretted about metal colors and prong types! He is a master craftsman with impeccable taste and a true love for jewelry. I have also seen his more complex pieces and they are incredible. Hand made jewelry is a rarity these days, but nothing compares to the quality, precision and detail of something made by hand. Thank you John! I can't wait to come back with more projects! read more

I've been to a few Jewelers in the city and none are talented and professional as he. He didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need and repaired both rings that I brought him in mere minutes. He is THE go to guy in the Jewelry district! He's reasonably priced, easy to work with and tells you like it is! All the best qualities you want in someone working with your most precious heirlooms! I recently entrusted OSI to resize a family heirloom hundred year old platinum engagement ring. This is obviously the kind of repair I didn't want to leave to just anyone and the other yelp reviews helped me make the right decision. The work was perfect. There is absolutely no visible signs of modification. I found John to be honest, straightforward and nice to deal with. I would recommend him highly. read more

We were looking to repair my engagement ring which broke after I had been wearing it with a ring guard for a few months. It was a beautiful vintage ring which belonged to my fiance's grandma, and after consulting multiple jewelers in the Diamond District (which was pretty overwhelming), we were the most comfortable with Jean, and it was an awesome choice that we made. The ring had a lot of wear and tear from years of love (minor cracks on the crown and shank, and the diamond was also slightly chipped) in addition to a major crack that led to the need for fixing while I was wearing the ring. Jean was very detailed oriented, and pointed out all the areas that needed fixing for us, as well as our options and his best advice. We ended up having Jean recut the diamond for us, as well as repairing parts of the ring and rebuilding the shank. Jean did an amazing job and kept us informed and assured through every step of the process, and was also extremely patient with us (with our many visits and being extremely receptive to tweaks). It was also extremely comforting to know that he really appreciated the meaning and character behind a vintage engagement ring and put in a lot of effort to keep its old charm and original look with great craftsmanship and attention to detail. We were especially nervous about recutting the diamond because we didn't want to alter the way it looked but wanted to have it recut to be less susceptible to future damage, and we couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. We highly recommend Jean and will definitely come back to him for any work we need in the future! read more

My fiance went to John because he was highly recommended from a close friend. My fiance had John create a custom engagement ring for me. It's absolutely stunning! The diamonds are gorgeous and crazy sparkly! My fiance dealt with John mostly, he had been to see him multiple times as he originally purchased an antique ring John had and then decided he'd rather have something custom made with brand new stones and all. John happily took on the project to create something brand new and worked with my fiance until he was content with the finished product (which didn't take long as John is an expert craftsman). I did go in and meet with him to have the ring re sized and he was so friendly and personable. He really knows his stuff and hooked my fiance up with a great price for an exquisite ring! He even had it appraised for us while we had lunch. We will most certainly be going back to him to make our wedding bands when the time comes!! Highly recommend him, he knows his stuff, is extremely honest and trustworthy. You don't want to get fooled by the shops in the diamond district, go directly to OIS. read more

This review is long over due, especially since I have gone to John twice! The first time was to adjust and align a 3-band ring that the former jeweler threw together. John saw exactly what was wrong when none of the other jewelers couldn't. He did an excellent job! My second visit was to replace a stone that fell out of my ring. Again, I have no complaints. He is very good at what he does. I am definitely going back to him again for more work. I won't trust my jewelry in the hands of anyone else! read more
