Well, let's see... I first took a motorhome to Hillmans for…read morea "pre-purchase" inspection that was apparently never done, as when I had to remove the engine cover weeks later, there was an animal next, obviously old, on top of the engine block. Hillmans told me the unit was in good shape. 2 weeks later, returning from our second camping trip (local, thank goodness), we overheated. Since I had already scheduled service for a generator that kept stalling and a refrigerator that didn't get cold (thanks for the "pre-purchase inspection...), I added that to the list. After two days, I called for an update and was told the radiator needed to be replaced. Three days after that, I cancelled my scheduled camping trip due to not having a motorhome to go in. I was told the new radiator was $1500.00 but they could send the old one out for a re-core. A week after than, I again called for an update and they claimed to have not heard from the radiator shop but my generator had been repaired and the refrigerator was cold. I expressed my displeasure that Hillman had not called me and that I had to keep calling for updates. Long story short, they never called me until I called complaining and, after two weeks, I had a new radiator and a refrigerator that still wasn't cooling. The generator was untested. Ricky at Hillman told me he'd price a new reefer and get back to me. Still waiting for that call. Meanwhile, the motorhome has been leaking transmission fluid in my driveway and any other place the unit has been, the generator continues to stall and I finally got the reefer working myself. The motorhome is now at another shop, and the first question I got was "who put this radiator in? All the transmission lines are cross threaded and leaking". I paid Hillman $3,000.00 for all this work and the only thing I got was excuses and a poorly installed radiator. Lesson learned.... 10/8 - Update from the shop fixing what HIllman didn't: ""Good evening Bob, just letting you know I literally just closed the hood on your RV & it's all set for pickup tomorrow....Please give me an idea when you're going to come by and pick it up.... We will talk then about going after the place that did this terrible butcher job." and "but we definitely need to get your money back from those hacks."

Mike, the owner I could tell right from the start is passionate about what he does. He went above and beyond to help me. Most shops if you don't know exactly what you want, will tell you to go and do research and come back, this is not the way he operates. Mike helped and gave me some suggestions on the way to go. Needed to find a go to mechanic in Buffalo for my daughter. Her car had one major issue and one…read morerelatively small one but that one had some slight safety implications . My strategy for finding any new third party is to read the reviews and try and synthesize the truth, speak to a decision maker and assess and finally ask for some quotes for the parts and labor. I spoke to four shops and of course everyone needs to see the job before finally committing and that scope can obviously change. Sam freely and patiently gave me some quotes for both (others couldn't get past - we need to see it), the quotes and the final pricing were both very fair and competitive. Mo communicated freely during the fix and heres the kicker and why we'll trust these guys moving forward. They easily could have turned the minor job into a relatively major fix and they didn't, the problem and solution was less in every sense than what I assumed it would be including their cost - great job the both of you!
