We have walked by Tre Rivali at least 20 times and enviously eyed the dishes people were noshing on as we made our way to some other eatery. Finally, we had enough of the window shopping and had to try it for ourselves.
The menu has a lot to offer. It'd be a great place for casual drinks and tapas, a casual date, or an upscale celebratory meal. The hardest part was decided what to commit to because everything looked and smelled delicious. As is tradition, my husband and I started with the cheese board. A good cheese board has to have something sweet, something pungent, something salty, and enough crackers to get through the whole shebang. Tre definitely has this recipe for success down because they checked every box.
We moved on to a salad course with a really fresh, lemony escarole and celery salad. This was like summer on a plate. The vibrant citrus dressing and crisp, cold celery was a fabulous lead in to our main course.
We decided to share the Florentine steak, advertised to serve two. To be quite honest, it was a large cut of meat and we could have used another person to help us take it down. Not only was the depth of flavor ridiculous, the meat was tender, marbled and seared to perfection. It was accompanied by a wine reduction, which came on the side in a cow shaped gravy boat. I'm not usually big on drowning a good piece of meat in gravy, cheese, or sauce of any kind, but this was something special. The flavor complimented the meat instead of overshadowing the beautiful beef. The dish was served with duck fat roasted potatoes and we ordered a side of spicy broccolini.
The desserts were also spectacular. I had the sticky toffee pudding, which tasted like a gooey, warm pancake soaked in butter and syrup. Something about it rook me back to childhood breakfast at our cottage. My husband had the chocolate tart. It was covered in a creamy bourbon sauce that I would love to bathe every dessert in for the rest of my life.
The manager walked around while we were dining to chat with every table. This is truly the mark of a fantastic restaurant. He was personable, a great conversationalist, and certainly should feel confident about the food that's coming out of the kitchen. It doesn't surprise me that they have such a great operation going because they take time to listen to guests and implement feedback.
If I could, I'd really rate Tre Rivali as a 4.75 star experience. The only downside was that service was a smidge slow. We had show tickets for 8 and arrived at 5:45, but were rushing to get out. However, it was absolutely worth the wait. Next time, we'll leave the rest of the evening free, so we can relax and enjoy more of the menu. read more
