We arrived early in the morning at 9am, hours before check-in, desperately in need of a room as I had fallen ill with food poisoning during our trip. We had asked several places for an early check-in, but all had turned us down. However, the manager at the front desk showed great kindness and understanding of our situation and promptly provided us with a room at no additional charge. We will be forever grateful for the kindness that was shown. I would give this hotel 10 stars if I could. The room was clean and came with a filter/fan that was a wonderful thing to have when you don't feel so great. Easy walk to grocery stores nearby. This is a very unsafe property. There were lots of street walkers and homeless in the area. While unloading or luggage I was hit up by one of them. We ended up leaving and checking into a different hotel. If you can, skip Eureka all together, if you must staff do your research and stay at another safer hotel. read more

I am very happy to recommend this budget hotel to anyone passing through Eureka. We feel fortunate to have found it. The hotel we had planned on was booked up and the others in town that we contacted did not have reliable internet service. Travelodge gave excellent wifi delivery. The concierge was friendly, accommodating and efficient. The room was very clean. The bathroom was actually sparkling. The bed linens were crisp white and had even been ironed. The room is small but even with a king-sized bed, the room was well designed to comfortably hold two suitcases and a cooler. The refrigerator kept our travel food fresh. We were a bit disappointed the the fridge did not have a freezer for our ice packs. We especially liked that the room had cross ventilation windows allowing for a fresh breeze to pass through while the door was closed. The view from our window of the very professional mural on the supermarket wall across the street was delightful. The parking is very convenient, right outside your door. The parking lot is fenced, but there is no locking gate, so you have 24 hour access. The exterior is well-lit all night. There are many good restaurants nearby. Breakfast is in a small hospitality room. Dry cereal, oatmeal, delicious pastry products, juice and coffee are included in the very low price for a room. Each room has a table and two chairs so if the breakfast room is crowded it is comfortable to eat in which we did. read more

If I'm contacted by the establishment and offered a discount I will remove my review. Everything else was fine except for the two beds. The most important part that I needed honestly was to get a good nights sleep and the two beds look like poor old worn out horses. I literally woke up this morning with the worst neck ache that I've had in forever. And I was in the mountains sleeping in the back of my truck for a week. And I slept better than I did here. Certainly not worth around the $200 for the 2 nights we stayed. There's NO AIR CONDITIONING which should be told to the person reserving but they don't let you know til check-in. Pretty shady business move if you ask me, it's like lying by omission. Definitely much nicer places to stay within a mile or two for approximately the same price. Our rooms supposed to be nonsmoking but there's definitely recently been smoking in our room, they try masking the odor with cheap smelling chemicals. Bed is uncomfortable. Room was kinda clean, not terrible. TV, microwave, mini fridge, and WiFi work ok. Everything is just really cheaply made. Easy to tell they cut tons of corners to save money. Definitely won't stay again.. Only thing that's good is the water pressure and there's plenty of hot water for showers. read more

We recently checked in for 3 nights, using our airline credit card points in advance. We had a lot of stuff in our van so I simply asked if there was a downstairs room as he had us upstairs, for convenience of lugging stuff up and down the stairs. He said he could do that, at no extra charge, which was cool. He then said it would be a little extra $$ to do so and ran my card (which I thought was just what they often do, but I wasn't told about the room being extra prior), so I told him no need to change, we'll just go upstairs. I didn't want to pay more, I was just asking. Then apparently he couldn't change it back in his computer so he said it'll be no extra charge at all and the extra $69 charge was only pending and will refund in 3 business days, don't worry. After 3 business days it was still pending and we checked on it and said it would come off any day. Then it went from pending to a full charge a couple of days later. We called and again they said don't worry, it'll come off. It never did. We are going through our bank to reverse the charge since they won't. We feel we were scammed, duped, for this extra charge. Certainly lied to. The area is very bad, there is a rod-iron fence around the property and we heard people on the sidewalks all night, quite scary. And then being over-charged and lied to, we will never stay here again (to be honest we never would've again anyway). This is not an ethical business. read more

Requested ground floor because of handicap. Was given upper deck upon arrival. Clerk fumbled around and seemed to put us in the worst room in the whole place. Our front door is facing a cement wall. No windows in the front when every other room has them in front and back. Back window overlooks 2 fences and a parking lot. One crappy fan. Went and bought a box fan at Walmart. Tiny tv screen. Only 1/2 a roll of toilet paper in the entire room. Beds hard as a rock. No coffee maker in room despite accommodations listing that when I booked it. No ice bucket in room. Only thing I can say is that I don't think there are bed bugs. read more

You aren't staying here if you're reading reviews. At a solid two star average you're either in our position of in desperate need of a nights sleep or on my neighbors position of somewhere needed to rail lines of meth all night. Three separate rooms three separate crappy experiences. One room with a shower head to the nipples. One room with a sit down shower and stale coffee in the machine from the prior occupant (you can't clean out old coffee?? What else don't you clean?). And my gem of a room with a missing part for the coffee maker oh and the meth heads yelling all night how they were going to kill each other in the room next to me at full volume all night until 6 am when meth heads sleep and the rest of us wake up. Wish I could give this place less than one star. This will be the last money I ever spend at a travel lodge and now I understand when my credit card number was hacked why the money was all applied to a travel lodge. We travel A LOT for work and this is where we stay about once every 6 weeks when we are in the area. It's no luxury accommodations by any means, but it's a clean, safe, quiet and affordable place to rest for the night. No complaints! It's very centrally located to our places of business and the entertainment we enjoy after work. Staff has always performed adequately; though some more friendly interaction and maybe a smile or 2 from the regular manager guy on duty would be nice. The continental breakfast is always tidy and stocked - bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit (sometimes), coffee and orange juice. Rooms have always been clean and there is never any troubles with our stay. Would recommend and will be back - unfortunately after being a regular customer, after tonight we will be seeking other options. **edit- in the last month since we've stayed last, the breakfast has been stopped. Per the owner/manager it's a corporate thing. So...... it's NOT LIKELY WE WILL BE RETURNING. for sure finding other options. read more

Thank you Yelp members. I had booked this hotel per the recommendations of another travel company and had reviews of pretty good location for the money. After crosschecking it with Yelp there was only one pretty good review and the rest for one or two stars and I do want to avoid stains bugs and flat pillows. Since the research I've cancel the reservation and found a clean well established place to stay with a good record and plenty of clean happy customers. Stayed at this Travelodge during the Memorial Day weekend. Initially when we arrived, found the room to be nice and clean, perfect for our needs as we would be spending the days hiking. The first evening, we noticed an odor from the bathroom, which we both ignored. The following day when returning in the evening from being out all day, the odor of raw sewage through the room was overwhelming and had to open the bathroom and bedroom windows hoping to clear out the smell. In the meantime, we went to the office and informed the hotel desk clerk. He responded with something about it happens with high tide or heavy rains and they have even called a plumbing company. He said unfortunately all the other rooms were occupied and didn't seem interested in helping. We returned to our room and called multiple other hotels, without success as all were booked for the holiday weekend. We ended up having to stay in the room, leaving the bathroom fan on overnight and both windows open, which did not make me feel safe, but at least did not have to breath whatever was causing the foul odor. read more

Well Just after checking in I found out there is no AC here. If you want to have any cooling at all you have to open the window, which only open about 6 inches, and then it's loud. The room and bathroom are the smallest I've ever seen. The sheets don't look like they were changed since the last guest due to black hair all over the place. Totally gross. I checked in about 20 mins ago and I feel like checking out but I don't want to pay for another booking for 2 nights. On a positive note the desk person was very nice and helpful. read more

Horrible. Checked in later in the day about 9 30. Was a nice young lady at the front desk. She was nice and inviting. Hot in room and there was hair on the beds and the tube. Dirty wash clothes and rocks in the bathroom. I had just had surgery so I wanted to sleep. We cleaned up the room our self's and then went to take a shower. Well the shower was clogged. Would not drain. Took 3 hours to drain 2 inches of water. When checking out wanted to let them know and the man was very rude. He yelled why I did swap rooms or this and that. I had said it was late and I'd just had surgery the day before so I'm hurting and tired from driving all-day. I did not want to deal with it so was letting them know so that the next guest had a better time then me. He said well I don't know what to tell you. Just very rude I'd give 0 stars. read more

I spent two nights at this Eureka Travelodge to study for a hard up-coming test. I found the air-conditioning/heater units to be deliberately locked when I tried to turn on the unit that was in my room. I asked one of the owners if he would be willing to unlock the air-conditioning/heater unit, and he said "no." It was an exceptional warm day, and I really needed the cool air, but the owner refused to unlock it. In addition, the owner told me to that all the air-conditioning/heater units in all the other hotels rooms were locked also. I pointed out to the owner it was a very warm day, and he had me use a fan that was in a closet. Apparently the owners locked these units down in order to save money. I feel they are wrong in doing this. In my opinion this is false advertising. There are units in all the hotel rooms; yet you can't use them, and there is no mention of them being locked. I don't recommend this hotel because I have stayed in many local hotels and this is the only hotel that doesn't have an operational heater or air-conditioner. read more

Nice spot with free cable and wi-fi that gets the job done. Bathroom was clean and bed was nicely made each day. The place is centrally located in eureka and there's a Co op across the street should you need food or anything else. The main drawback of the place would be that it can be a little loud at night from passing cars and people having loud conversations from the street, otherwise it's a decent stay if you're heading to the redwoods. I stayed 3 nights and didn't really have a problem with the noise except an occasional group of cars here or there. They also have complimentary continental breakfast which is nice if you're trying to get a quick bite before heading out. read more

I came out to Eureka for several days of work. This was a good location, as there are many shops and restaurants nearby. The staff was friendly and the room was set up nicely. There was no noise to complain about and the staff is constantly monitoring the parking area and property to ensure there are no thieves or unnecessary people coming onto the property. I noticed there were some homeless that were attempting to come onto the property to ask me for stuff and the staff quickly asked them to leave. I do feel for the homeless but I do not like to be approached! The room had a microwave, refrigerator, and two large fans you can position yourself. The room was clean and everything worked great. I had made a reservation at the Travelodge in Eureka, California for February 13, 2021.  When I got a few miles south of Crescent City I found that highway 101 was closed due to a mud slide and there was no detour available and no other route to take to get to Eureka that night.  When I called the motel then I was reminded that there would be no refund for a cancellation made with less than 24 hours notice, notwithstanding that I could not have foreseen the road closure.  Consequently, I was charged $59.93 for a night's stay that I did not and could not have possibly taken. Shouldn't they make exceptions for acts of God or the public enemy?  Couldn't they have waived the room charge under these circumstances? read more

So we arrived to check-in for our two night reservation at this hotel. Front desk couldn't accommodate our party so after some back and forth dialogue, we went back to our car to decide on our next course of action. While sitting in our car, the front desk clerk walked towards us and motioned with his finger to have us come out (very disrespectful) from about 50 feet away; like how one would motion for a dog to come. Back inside at the front desk, the same clerk was very condescending towards us and even started raising his voice, after we asked questions about what we, as CUSTOMERS, could do to get our refund (or partial refund for night 2). At first he said we could get our money back for the second night but then he changed the story and said we were past the deadline and SOL (sorry outta luck). What a PR travesty for Travelodge Eureka! Eventually we booked a place at a near-by hotel (for a far better value/deal) but basically, if you come to this Travelodge, prepare to deal with some not-so-friendly customer service. Two stars only because for Eureka, it was pretty clean. I've stayed at travel lodges across the country, and I've never had to put down a deposit for the room. This one required a $200 deposit, and was not mentioned online or when I called the manager to confirm the reservation. Halfway through our stay, we were asked to switch rooms because ours need "maintenance"- there was nothing wrong with the room, and we didn't see anyone but the maid go in after we switched. I believe the owner was profiling us and looking for damage or smoking. It made the rest of the stay extremely uncomfortable. They also no longer serve any kind of free breakfast. read more

Dirty room..I had the pleasure of looking at the previous customers toothpaste spittle on the mirror. Room had little insulation...Everytime a neighboring room used water I got to hear it and it was ridiculously loud. Shower took about 20 minutes to get hot, by then I had given up and was done with my cold shower. The "free breakfast", is crap...basically just gas station donuts and mini bagels, nothing hot except the crappy coffee. Waste of money. read more

When we arrived, we were greeted by a gentleman who wasn't welcoming whatsoever. We got checked into the room and everything was fine until my mom looked at the bed sheets and there was black specs of dirt in the bed. We asked to change rooms, which was no problem. It was actually the front desk persons idea. Getting into the second room, the beds were fine but the walls have stuff on them. Was woken up around 645 to someone stomping on the roof above us because we stayed on the lower level. Beds were hard as rock and maybe got a good solid three hours. You get what you pay for , but especially during a pandemic you'd at least expect things to be a little cleaner. Bad neighborhood. All the nearby restaurants make it look like it will be okay, but it's not. I walked 8 minutes to dinner (nice restaurant), but there were soooooooo many homeless people about on the streets. Abndoned buildings, etc. I opened my bathroom window for a sec; all tagged up back there. And it's on a very busy road, so loud. The fridge has no freezer. The room has no AC. And its $130/night. INSANE. My motels in Monterey and San Luis Obispo were cheaper and nicer. Tell my family I love them. read more

Worst night's sleep in ages. I suffered through the neighboring guest's sputtering chainsaw snoring through the cardboard-thin wall pretty much the entire night. No ventilation in the room save for cracking the window which isn't an option I'd recommend because of the traffic; clogged toilet; a thick film of dust blanketing everything from the drapes to the lampshades; broom closet bathroom; no storage to speak of; parking lot within earshot of the impromptu bus stop tweaker commune. I am equally dissatisfied with travellodge and priceline. It said "book tonight" on their mobile site and when it completed my payment it said the next night on the confirmation. Neither the hotel or priceline would do anything to change the date. There were like 10 cars in the parking lot. Both told me that they didn't have authorization to move the date up. Could've helped but they are fine with just taking the money and doing nothing. Went to motel 6 down the road and they had a construction crew running air compressors/power tools/beating on shit at 6:45 AM and shut the water off. I wouldn't recommend that place either. That was the only bad experience out of the whole trip so I guess thats not too bad but I wouldn't stay at either place again. read more

The good....cheap The bad.....Listened to the logging trucks barreling by all night....which would not be bad if you liked that kinda noise :) Ugly....yep...just sad and UGLY. When I say "a lot of money" I mean for what you get. Here is what you get 1. Free wifi (connected clocked it at about .05 MPS D and .02 for upload) wouldn't even load google 2. Prison style shower head. Looks like something someone made. It's like a little rod with a pinhole drilled in it. This will sand blast off your tatttoos if you're not careful.) 3. Service (door lock key card thing stopped working and 3 days has gone by and it's still not fixed) 4. Stiff bed (not for the tall) 5. This was the worst hotel we stayed at while driving from OR to Los Angeles. You heard every noise in other rooms especially when the room upstairs turned on their water for a shower at 6am in the morning. The breakfast was basic and nothing more plus they ran out of seats so we had to stand awkwardly until someone finished. The check in was the only part I liked. It was quick and easy and the person at the front desk was so friendly. Otherwise I was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel even for a quick night stop. read more
