Trattoria di Como is in the space that Joe Fortes used to occupy. Upon being seated, our server told us that previously the restaurant was in the same space. I like how they opened up the dining room by taking out the bench seats in the middle. We were seated at a six person round table which made conversation much easier. Our server also explained that many of the dishes were designed to be shared family style, and the round table really facilitated this.
I usually like to have a cocktail, but unfortunately, none of the cocktails peaked my interest so we settled on sparkling water. For appetizers, we shared some Caesar salad and the beet salad, which was so delicious. The burrata was nice and smooth and the beats were very tasty - a perfect balance of sweetness and sour. The focaccia came out fresh and fluffy. For the main course we ended up sharing as couples. I really liked the sable fish. Portions were good as we aren't big eaters and we were stuffed.
As for the ambiance, at the beginning we could speak at a reasonable volume but as the restaurant filled up, it became more difficult to hear each other as it seemed like everyone was yelling. read more
