This is, by far, the best restaurant I went to in Florence. For one, it has a fantastic atmosphere. The restaurant is quaint, casual, inviting, and not too touristy (also, way more affordable than most in the area). The waitstaff is also particularly friendly. The food was extraordinary; unpretentious and honest, yet elegant and creative.
Our table sampled the liver pate which was creamy, flavorful, and delicious. I also had a gnocchi dish with asparagus and fresh vegetables. The gnocchi were fluffy and tender, and the dish was cooked with so much integrity and care, using quality ingredients to create a simple, yet very satisfying product. My favorite savory dish was the homemade sausage served over white beans. The sausage was incredible: an explosion of flavor with the perfect 'snap' texture, and the white beans were a perfect pairing. The linguine with clams was very fresh, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The most heavenly part of the meal was the chocolate torte, warm from coming right out of the oven. It had a flaky, crisp exterior with a perfect gooey tenderness in the middle.
I walked away feeling as though I had visited my Italian grandmother's house (if I had an Italian grandmother), and she had cooked me the most delicious, traditional Florentine dinner I had ever had. If you are looking for honest Italian cooking in a casual atmosphere, this is the place for you! read more
