    Steak frites
    Lindsay S.

While visiting Athens on a work trip, I was craving a good meal. A friend suggested Trappeze, mentioning it was one of the best restaurants in the area. I was sat in the bar area. The server/bartender was awesome, very attentive. I got a glass of wine, french onion soup and the steak frites. Everything was delicious. The steak was a nice size and the blue cheese-truffle fries were very yummy. Next time I'm in the area I'll be back to order the same meal!

    Bangers and mash

Good food and drinks. Inside is modern and clean. Got the mash and bangers and it was a ton of mash potatoes and not a lot of duck sausage. Waitress was a little slow for how quiet the place was. Also had a waiter walk in to the women's bathroom without knocking ... that was really weird. He left upon seeing me hence how I know it was a mistake. Still odd and uncomfortable.

I came for a rehearsal dinner. We had a private room and the food was buffet style. The appetizers were sliders, buffalo chicken dip, veggies, and fries. The main course was salmon, Mac and cheese, meat, (looked like a roast), salad, rolls, and roasted potatoes. There were also mixed drinks. The food was good except for the mac and cheese. It was lacking flavor. The staff was friendly and no one had any complaints. I don't like in Athens but if I had the opportunity, I would give them another try.

    Red dragon cheese plate

I ordered a Red Dragon Cheese Plate. It was delicious! One of the cheeses was better (I believe it was the paler one). Lots of variety, and I liked the jam on the board, too. Service was fine, ambiance was pretty lowkey.

Not exactly blue cheese fries, but damn good fries with some cheese droppings?

Let's start with the service at the bar - phenomenal! I'll likely massacre the spellings here, but Nico and Izland were amazing! Nico was fairly new, but had a great spin on cocktails and humored me taking a gin & jam drink and sub bourbon since I don't like gin, and it was fantastic to the point I was disappointed I didn't make it back over the weekend for another. We had a burger and some bar food, which is pretty much our jam. The blue cheese fries left a tad to be desired as I am accustomed to more cheese and likely a sauce, but the fries themselves were tasty and it came with a choice of dipping sauce, so no trauma. The jam with the pimento cheese was the star of the show (hence the drink order). Now the true test to a restaurant is how they handle it when something goes wrong, and someone got distracted and the lamb burger was nearly a hockey puck when it came out. Nico was on it, took it back to the kitchen with all the apologies and we were presented with a replacement that was perfectly cooked. It was super tasty with the onions and toppings to the point that we didn't even care there was not a gluten free option. Bathrooms were immaculate, as was everything, and the bar area very inviting. It's one of those menus where anyone can find something and will absolutely be a go to upon our next return. Thanks guys!!

    Chicken wings in Cheerwine sauce

One of our favorite spots in downtown. Lots of seating, great service, and several unique and delicious dishes. To start, you have to try the Cheerwine Wings. They are one of the best and most unique things I've had in Athens to-date. Perfect flavoring. A bit pricy, so that's the only downside as I could probably eat an almost endless amount based on the flavor. Otherwise we've had the fish, chicken sandwich and several other dishes--all of which have been very flavorful and cooked perfectly. This is a great lowkey spot to enjoy a casual dinner in downtown.

    Veggie burger

This place was absolutely incredible!! We had a few choices but this spot just sounded delicious. We definitely picked right! They have an incredible veggie burger that was absolute perfection!! The garlic fries hit the damn spot & the cocktails were refreshing as well. Our server wasn't terrible but she definitely didn't seem happy or have a personality. Everyone can have bad days though. Either way, check this spot out!

Chickpea Burger, fries, and tomato soup

Dined on a Friday evening at approximately 5pm. They got real busy right after our arrival. We had boiled peanuts, tomato soup, burgers, wine, and mixed drinks. The service was excellent and all of the food and drinks were outstanding. We will definitely return when we are back in the area.

    Pub burger Belgian fries

A friend and I were in Athens for a concert recently and we stopped by Trappeze to eat dinner beforehand. I had the pub burger and my friend had a burger as well but with no bun (since she's allergic to gluten.) I loved the burger but it was pretty messy though. It was definitely falling apart by the time I was finishing it. I think it tasted great but I just kinda wish the greens on the burger weren't all over the place and that it was easier to eat lol. I was a fan of the fries. Our server took some time bringing back our receipts when we were waiting to leave, but I still think the service was pretty good overall. The inside area of the restaurant had a pretty cool vibe. My friend and I were happy with our visit and I'm sure I'll be back at some point

Chicken Bacon Ranch with Fries and Garlic Aioli
    Emma H.

This restaurant has always been one of my favorites. It is always crowded, but I rarely have to wait. The staff is always extremely friendly and takes great care of me, making sure that my drinks are full and never rushing the table even when it is busy. The food never disappoints. They have great sandwich options and the fries are amazing with the garlic aioli. I almost always stick with a sandwich, but the nachos are also great. I can always make two meals out of it as well. I always choose Trappeze for a catch up or an evening out!

Yes, we have TV coverage throughout the dining room!

Are small (pug) dogs allowed with outdoor eating?

Hi Susie! Of course, we love dogs here! While we only allow service animals inside, our patio is open to dogs of all shapes and sizes. Hope to see you soon, cheers!

Is it impossible to get a table in the restaurant on a Friday night if you don't have a reservation?? Went to go make a reservation for tomorrow but I was too late so wondering if I should just stop by and try anyways?

In my experience, not impossible! I went a couple of Fridays ago and didn't have a reservation. We went around 7. I've been many times and it's been busy, but have never had to wait. I highly recommend going-- it's great.

How late is the kitchen open?

The kitchen is open until 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday evenings, and until 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday!

    Any happy hours?

It was an old-school street meter, thankfully it accepted credit cards. We took a short walk across the street and noticed a few outdoor tables in front, before heading inside. We entered and saw the sign instructing to seat yourself. We sat at a high top table pretty centrally located. The whole interior felt like we were transported to a British pub. Our server quickly came over with menus and waters, giving us a few minutes to review the options. We needed some time to review the menu. The beer list was massive; drafts as well as cans and bottles spread across multiple pages. While they don't offer traditional beer flights, they do serve smaller 11 ounce pours. Wifey ordered a couple of those: a Harp Premium Lager and a Bavak Super Wit from the draft list. I went with a bottled Pilsner Urquell and later tried an 11 ounce taster of "Escape Button," an IPA from local Athens brewery, Athentic. We enjoyed all of our choices. The food menu featured classic pub options, but also a few that you wouldn't expect like a Curry Chicken Bowl that I almost ordered but instead I went with the Turkey Club sandwich with no tomatoes and a side salad. Wifey ordered Chicken tenders with french fries. The food took a little longer than expected to come out and when it arrived my sandwich still came out with tomatoes. I did not make a big deal about it and picked them out. My sandwich and salad were actually very good and Wifey said her meal was also very good. While hanging out in the dining room we noticed some original artwork near the bar that we found out was to depict the history of wine. There's also an upstairs area that was blocked off during our visit, and a sign mentioned that live music starts at 10 PM. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch time visit to The Globe and would definitely return the next time we are in town.

Unfortunately, my recent Sunday visit for a takeout order left me thoroughly disappointed, and nearly $50 lighter with very little to show for it. The Food: I ordered two items: the pimento cheese fritters and the shrimp and grits. The pimento cheese fritters were, in a word, average. They looked and tasted like standard fried cheese balls--nothing visually impressive, nothing exciting about the flavor, and at $16 (or $4 a piece), I expected something with a little more creativity or punch especially at entree pricing for an appetizer. It was just pimento cheese, deep fried. That's it. Just as literal as could be. The shrimp and grits was the bigger disappointment. At $26, I expected a hearty, well-portioned dish. What I got was four average-sized shrimp and barely any andouille sausage--and I mean barely. It was just one thin slice of smoked sausage, cut in half, and placed in the entire dish. That was it. The portion felt light the moment I picked up the bag, and once I got to my friend'd and opened it, that feeling was confirmed. I will say, as an avid Yelp user I did my homework before ordering. I looked through photos on their page and noticed that their Shrimp & Grits looked completely different across three separate photos. When I asked the staff about it when I arrived, they mentioned the menu rotates every twelve weeks, which is fine, but the inconsistency made it hard to know what I was actually ordering. Atmosphere: I didn't dine in, but from what I could see, the space seemed nice. It's located in a charming, up-and-coming part of Lilburn, and the staff I interacted with were friendly and pleasant. So there's that. Final Thoughts: This meal was definitely not worth $50. It wasn't worth the drive, and honestly, it wasn't worth the effort. The food was underwhelming, the portions were stingy for the price, and the value just wasn't there. My friend loved the place, so maybe they caught a good day, but based on my experience, I don't know if I'll personally be returning. If I'm being honest, if I wasn't so tired then and it wasn't as far as it was, I would've just driven back, returned the food, and gotten a refund.
