a black stone planter with a triangular shaped piece of slate

Gary was referred to me by my landscape designer, we went with him since he was very responsive in the beginning. We had to delay the project due to Covid. The nightmare began since the first date of our project started. We own a duplex with tenent living on the other side during construction, so I specifically on multiple occasion asked him to provide them a path way when they do excavation of existing landscape, but he still did not do it. Instead he left muddy dirt without path, we had to insist that he provide pathway on a Friday after his crew took off for for the weekend. Second, it followed by bursting the water line, he stated it was because our lines were too old. Okay, we had our plumber come to fix, few extra thousands out of pocket. Then, the slapped us with an increased material of the deck by $3000. I called the lumbar store, they told me that particular material did not increase in price at that time. The real might mare began when they put the cortin steel around the front year without sloping angle. It looked ugly, he blamed that my landscape designer did not put on the drawing. He said to re-do it, it'll cost us $7000. Luckily my designer came onsite and pointed out the the sloping was included in her drawing. We generally paid within the week he sent out the invoice, but he will continue harass you if they don't pay within 1-2 days. He also, refused to paint the fire place that they build, and stained the Fence, claiming it not within their scoop of work. No where in contact stated finishing paint is not included. At the finish of the project, he initially left all the paint splashed along our fence until the repetitively asking him to do a final clean. Even then, it was not very clean. Gary is rude to his workers and very condescending to his clients. Even one of his sub-contractor complained to us about him. If you want your project to go smoothly, don't go with him. Dealing his him was very stressful!

We recently redesigned our backyard through another design company and TLD did the construction work for it. They were referred to us by the design company. Gary and his crew Oskar did a really good job with the construction work of our backyard. Gary was open to scope changes and adjust the contract accordingly. Our project got severely delayed due to the historic rainfall this past winter season. However, his crew made up for the lost time and worked weekends to finish the project before summer. He gave us good referrals for vendors and suppliers along the way. Since they came through a referral from the design company, they resolved open questions directly with the design company and took away the stress from our shoulder of co-ordinating between the design company and them. They were organized and streamlined in their project execution. It really helps to have a schematic design/plot plan for the work that you are trying to do. Gary and his crew follow the plot plan to a tee :).

Love the contrast with the black mulch they put in the plant beds.

I highly recommend Transformation Landscape. Gary and his team truly transformed our "lunar landscape" of a backyard into a beautiful, functional, modern outdoor space. Gary's bid was the most detailed and complete compared to the other contractors we talked to. This resulted in a final cost that was fairly close to the original bid, and only changed because of some upgrades we requested during the project. He is straight-forward, organized, very responsive, welcomes open communication throughout the different phases of the project, is very proud of his projects and stands behind his work. Every day, a crew of friendly, respectful and hardworking guys showed up, and I was impressed how they were accustomed to Covid protocols - they masked up, at the very least, had one ready to go and wore one every time we talked to them about something. I truly lucked out finding this gem of a company (thanks to Instagram - he has more pics of his work on IG)!

We had a great experience working with Gary and the Transformation Design team! The team worked efficiently and was detailed in their craftsmanship. They came early and stayed late to ensure our project could move forward day after day. Gary and the team stayed in communication with us to let us know the next steps. We even made some design changes mid-way through the project and they were able to pivot with ease and deliver the concepts we were hoping for. Overall our project finished in a relatively efficient timeline and we are so happy with the way our backyard turned out!

This involved pouring over 1,500 sq. ft. of concrete, a large retaining wall, a patio deck, a new lawn, and a playground area. Here were some of the highlights of my experience: - Design Guidance: I relied heavily on Baltazar's experience and keen sense of design. His elegant hardscaping solution for the pool transition zones exceeded my expectations and tied the yard together perfectly. - The grading and drainage were very well done. Despite heavy rains, there was zero pooling; the rain gutters were routed directly into pipes beneath the concrete for a clean, streamlined look. - Smart Home Integration: All landscape lighting and irrigation were hooked up to smart-home enabled controllers for total automation and convenience. - The office staff was very responsive, addressing any concerns or follow-up questions usually within a single business day. Props to Gladys and Dahlia! Highly recommended!

It was over 3500 sq ft of lawn and irrigation, as well as concrete fixes around other parts of our property and pool tile repair. I chose them because they had the best strategy to combat the problem, even though they weren't the cheapest quote we received. I wanted the fix to last long term, not just hold me over for a year or two before another gopher invasion destroys our yard. Everything was extremely professional and delivered to contract specifications. We were extremely happy with the results. They had to move a portion of our fence to get the big equipment in but you wouldn't even know it had been moved because they were total pros putting things back. When we asked for additional scope of work (a French drain), they were quick to get back to me with a quote and incorporating the additional work didn't push out the timeline. All in all, highly recommend and we'll definitely use them again for our landscaping needs.

It was an excellent investment; we loved spending in our backyard after that. We asked All Green Scape to come out again to install even more grass, and they once again provided excellent service in an incredibly timely manner. The grass has thrived beautifully- it is really high quality, both lush and soft. Kids love to roll around on it and play on it all day long. Another very happy customer of South Bay Design and Landscaping…read more We had South Bay out to do a full demolition of the existing "landscaping" from when we bought our house and the installation of an entirely new plan from our landscape designer (check out Dawn Engel- she's great!), which included a patio space, a pergola, driveway extensions, hogwire fence, raised planter beds, and a side gate added to our existing fence. These guys do not mess around. Demolition went insanely quickly, and our property was kept neat and tidy the entire time. We never once saw dirt tracked anywhere by the crew, which we can't say the same for any of the other contractors we've worked with (and we're actually quite happy with some of them!), and which becomes even more insane to think about when you consider the nature of landscaping work. Installation went as smoothly as South Bay possibly could have made it. Any time we ran into the occasional hiccup, as happens with all nontrivial projects, Matt, Danny, and Marcus offered thoughtful suggestions and made sure to confirm exactly what we wanted before proceeding. (We had either or both of Matt and Danny on-site most days of our project, and interacted with Marcus via email.) We were delayed a smidge by some heavy rain, but the crew worked through all but the worst of it (talking "if you step in that mud, you're going to lose a boot" type of rain). Partway through the install, we discovered that the previous landscapers had managed to make the L-shaped pathway leading from our driveway to our front door square with nothing- which wasn't easily noticed until we had the planter beds in and hogwire fence line chalked out. (South Bay had laid those out properly square to the driveway and house, as per our plan.) Matt, Danny, and crew were thankfully able to accommodate our request to fix our pathway up by picking up each segment and pushing the out-of-square part over by 4-6 inches; this added about a week of extra time to our project, mostly due to the fact that not all of the pavers could be reused, and that the pavers had actually been discontinued (!). The guys worked around this by sourcing very similar pavers in a different size, and basically cutting and grinding them to match our existing pavers. Post-install, the only way you'd know there are two different pavers in our pathway is if you'd seen it being taken apart and rebuilt. Plants, irrigation, and lighting all went in straightforwardly after the hardscaping work was finished, and Danny gave us a complete walkthrough of all our new outdoor systems. It's been about a week since our project was completed; the plants are all thriving, and we're still ecstatic about our new yards (and so are our neighbors!). In short: we had a fantastic experience working with South Bay Design and Landscaping for our landscaping project. They take pride in doing a quality job, and it shows in everything from demolition to day-to-day jobsite management to the finished project. If you're looking for landscapers, these are your guys. (Special thanks to Matt and Danny for graciously handling my incessant "are you sure you didn't forget about such-and-such little detail?" questions and never once forgetting about any of the details, and also to Sergio for spending basically an entire Saturday morning troubleshooting what ultimately turned out to be a manufacturing issue with our pergola.)

My husband and I could not be happier with their high-quality and detailed work. The new deck was not only laid out beautifully, but extremely well constructed. We were particularly impressed by the sub-structure of the deck, where no corners were cut. It is heavy-duty, with meticulous care taken to the waterproofing and drainage underneath. Matt's crew consisted of hard working and skilled professionals, all of whom were delightful to work with. I am sure that we will enjoy our lovely backyard for many years to come, and I could not thank Southbay more or recommend them more highly.

Again, with much Prayers for God's Guidance, Directions we contacted for 3 Bids. One company with the initials of SL on Yelp great reviews was not a pleasant experience for us. They wanted Photos before they would even consider to bid. After much stress I did the photos, took the measurements as requested. I didn't expect them to come out to bid but they did and their bid was very high. I kept on praying and D&I Landscaping appeared and had great Yelp reviews. My initial reaction was Alyssa Torres was my first contact very personable and then we booked for Luis Blanco to come out to access our needs. No request for measurements or photos at all. Our job was easier only because my hubby knew what he wanted to have done and gave them his Vision and with their advice and help we tweaked a few things. Pavers is not an easy job especially when there's already Pavers installed, the guy I watched him and he was so methodical and kept placing Pavers down until he felt that he got the flow down and it was an amazing and challenging job but he did very well in my opinion. What we Love about D&I , is one of the owners Irving and their Designer Luis came over to meet with us. D&I doesn't charge for a Designer as some other companies do its part of their services. Irving, David, Luis and Alyssa and the entire Crew are so professional again this company was very Honest, Reputable, Hardworking and most of all they listen to our needs. One time our water spigot started leaking or spouting and we have this Project Group Text that they set up for us, all we do is text and within a few minutes David one of the owners showed up and turned it off while we were gone. They installed a water spigot that is easy for us to reach. They finished our Irrigation system along with installing a Rain Bird timer. It's hard to find a good honest company with Integrity but this company has it. Remember the company with the Initials SL think of S = a hard rock. Well... we had 3 bids which included backyard and front yard. When I called SL company and explained change of plans not doing the backyard she said oh, well that changes your front yard quote by 8 - 10% I was livid are you kidding me? No, it changes your price, the Lord quickly had me shut the door on this company bad feelings from the time I contacted them had to do measurements and photos. When the guy showed up,from SL, I told him you're young but you are passing on small jobs because you don't have time, let me tell you something passing on small job could lead you to something bigger, he was cordial and what was funny was after I went into the house he took measurements. When during our conversation I said how can you bid without taking measurements he replied because I've been doing this a long time really you're not even 40 Years old. D&I I contacted them to not include our backyard sent me a new quote penny for penny they just took off the back yard quote the front yard stayed the same. Honesty and Integrity goes a long way plus they don't charge us for a Porta Potty as SL did on our quote $250 for a Porta Potty folks she said unless you want the crew into your house to potty. I did let our Painters use our restroom which is fine they're in our house anyway and they were so professional and kind to us. To each its own. Looking for good Quality Work, a company with Honesty, Interity and a great ideas on your Landscaping this is the company and we had Carpenter Bees in one of our Post. David one of the owners worked really hard into the dark repairing it and he also placed the boulders back onto our neighbors lot for them. Irving drops by to check on the progress of our project. Who does all of these extras? D&I Landscaping give them a call for a quote no job too big or small for them. One of our neighbors hired them shortly after seeing them here at our house for over a week. Well, let me tell you, D&I came to the rescue (not all heroes wear capes!) They planted some really gorgeous flowers and shrubs, and set up irrigation so it's super low maintenance. The neighbors have commented that they love how the front lawn looks now! D&I are very communicative, kind, and give a fresh perspective to things. For example, I was thinking about redoing my backyard which I thought was stamped concrete. D&I inspected it and told me they are real flagstone and it's expensive and not worth replacing. I really appreciated that they weren't trying to squeeze every last penny out of us. They're trustworthy and I can't recommend them enough!

After looking around online, we found 101 Landscape and reached out. Alex got back to us quickly and came by to check out the space and talk through what we had in mind. In the front, we replaced the concrete driveway with pavers, added a grass lawn, and included a decorative planting area. Along the side and in the backyard, we replaced all the concrete with pavers, added more grass, and created another mulched planting area for low-maintenance landscaping. Since it was such a big project, we spent a lot of time in the design phase to make sure we'd be happy with the long-term results. Alex was very patient and flexible with us throughout the process.
